The shocking master of “DARK SIDE OF THE MOON Tour” is newly discovered from the popular “Mike B” collection! Making full use of related sound sources, we have created a definitive record that updates the longest and highest peak and will be preserved forever.
What is engraved in this work is the special concert held twice a day. This is the legendary audience recording of “November 4, 1973 Rainbow Theater Performance”. This show was part of the “DARK SIDE OF THE MOON Tour” and was also a benefit concert to support Robert Wyatt, who was paralyzed from the waist down due to an unexpected accident. First of all, let’s look back at the outline of activities at that time and check the position of the show.
●1973
・January 13th – February 4th: Paris (4 performances)
《“Madness” released on March 1st》
・March 4th-24th: North America #1 (16 performances) ← *DEFINITIVE BOSTON 1973 and others
・May 18th + 19th: London #1 (2 performances) ← *EARLS COURT 1973 and others
・June 16th-29th: North America #2 (12 performances) ←*TAMPA 1973 and others
-About 3 and a half months later-
・October 12th + 13th: Europe (2 performances) ← *VIENNA 1973
・November 4th: London #2 (2 performances in 1 day) ←★Here★
This is PINK FLOYD in 19736. The main part of the tour ends with “North America #2” in the summer, and only 3 days (4 performances) in Europe in the fall. The “Rainbow Theater” performance of this work was also the last two performances. I’m sure some of you have already noticed, but these two performances are famous for having great recordings, and “RAINBOW 1973 (Sigma 166)” has become a standard at our store. Although this work is the same recording, it is a new master that updates its highest peak.
●Late show upgraded with “Mike B” collection
The biggest point of this work is the late show (DISC 2) of the two performances in one day. This is a new master discovered from the “Mike B” collection, which has been producing shocking works. The difference is also obvious from the length. After “Madness”, the show will play “Obscured By Clouds” and “When You’re In” in the encore, but the tuning before this encore is longer than before. In this work, we aim to be the longest in history by supplementing with separate recordings, but this is the first record in history that did not exist in separate recordings for about 50 seconds.
Of course, the length of the tuning is only evidence of the new master, and what is important is the sound itself that runs through the entire volume. This is also clearly a younger generation than the conventional master. The whole song has been brought back to life in a fresh and natural way, but if I had to choose the part that is easiest to understand, it would be “Money.” Especially the register sound in the intro that makes you think, “Is this really the same recording?” If you have the previous release, I would like you to play it a bit, but in the previous master, the left channel started off a bit, and the left channel finally recovered just before the drums came in. However, this time’s “Mike B” master does not have this left channel sound drop from the beginning. The register is beautiful in three dimensions, and the cheers in the left channel are realistic.
Furthermore, the sound quality itself has also been beautifully upgraded. The stiffness of the conventional version is quickly removed, and the sound itself is smooth. This has never happened before. In fact, the existing groups so far are based on masters discovered in the 1990s, and are genetically the same. We have been competing to be the best with minor version differences such as the remastering method and unprocessed feel. However, this time’s “Mike B” master is different. Gene itself is getting younger, and it is a decision board that has completely risen to a higher level.
●Early show is also a new master with the highest peak update
The order of the stories has been reversed, but this work is a complete set of two performances in one day, and the early show (DISC 1) is also an upgraded version that updates the highest peak. Early Show is also known for its two recordings, “Nigel B” and “Steve B”, and this work combines the best masters of both to create the longest and highest peak version. This is also a good opportunity, so let’s check out the two types of recordings here.
・Main: “Steve B” recording
Although it is a 2nd generation, the sound far exceeds “Nigel B”. Uses an upgraded master that is more stable than the conventional version.
・Complementary: “Nigel B” recording
Although there is some distortion, it is the best Omoto master production ever. Compensated for the opening part that was missing in “Steve B”.
…and it looks like this. This processing is the same as the previous version, but this time the main “Steve B” has been upgraded. In terms of generation, it is the same 2nd generation as before, but we use a new master that has a stable stereo feel, which was unstable with the previous master. Previously, the fluctuation was suppressed by converting it to mono, but this time you can enjoy it stably even if you digitize the stereo tape. You can enjoy a more strictly unprocessed natural sound.
The early show has also updated its all-time high, but what is still shocking is the late show by the “Mike B” master. The ultra-young generation sound that is on a different level than before is truly a new experience in a different dimension. The encore is especially must-listen. Since there are two performances in one day, unlike usual, “Obscured By Clouds” and “When You’re In” have been selected, but the late show is also the last performance of these two songs of the day. is. The 50th anniversary commemorative edition has undergone an unexpected upgrade after half a century. Please experience it to the fullest with the press 2CD that will leave the highest shine forever.
★Legendary audience recording of “November 4, 1973 Rainbow Theater Performance”. It is a complete set of two performances a day, and the late show in particular is a young generation master excavated from the much-talked-about “Mike B” collection. It is longer than the previous version, and is much more natural and beautiful. The early show is also a new master that is more stable than the previous version, and is a cultural heritage album that allows you to fully experience the special performance supported by Robert Wyatt.
