PRO-SHOT Click Image To Enlarge “ロックの殿堂”入りを果たし、６年ぶりの来日も実現したTHE CURE。そんな彼らの最新・極上プロショットが登場です。 そんな本作に収められているのは「2019年８月11日ヘルシンキ公演」。15年続くフィンランドの名物音楽祭“FLOW FESTIVAL”に出演した際のマルチカメラ・プロショットです。夏にはヨーロッパ重でフェスが開催されますが、“FLOW FESTIVAL”は一種独特。バンド演奏だけでなく、デザインや建築の展覧会や映画上映、トーク、フードイベントまで開催される総合アート・フェスなのです。８月９日-11日の三日間で多数のバンド／アーティストが参加しましたが、THE CUREはその最終日の大トリとして出演。そして、その模様はプロ撮影されて配信。本作はその極上マスターをDVD化したものなのです。 また、THE CUREと言えば、今年のFUJI ROCKも記憶に新しいところ。彼らの近況を知る意味でも、ここでツアー概要からショウのポジションも確認しておきましょう。 ・３月16日＋21日：南アフリカ（２公演） ・３月29日：ロックの殿堂セレモニー ・５月24日-30日：豪州（５公演） ・６月８日-７月25日：欧州#1（17公演） ・７月28日：FUJI ROCK出演 ・８月３日-23日：欧州#2（６公演）←★ココ★ ・８月31日：PASADENA DAYDREAM出演 ・10月５日＋12日：AUSTIN CITY LIMITS出演 《10月18日『40 LIVE: CURAETION-25 + ANNIVERSARY』発売》 これが現在までに公表されている2019年のスケジュール。先月末にFUJI ROCK出演を果たしましたが、その直後には欧州に帰還。本作のヘルシンキ公演は「欧州#2」の４公演目にあたるコンサートでした。FUJI ROCKではサイモン・ギャラップが「深刻な個人的事情（一説によると奥方が危篤になられたとか……）」により来日できず、代わって息子のエデンがベースを務めた事も話題となりました。しかし、その代打はあくまで日本のみ。ヨーロッパに帰還した現在ではサイモンが復帰しています。 さて、そんなショウで撮影された本作。これがもう、鉄壁。完全オフィシャル級のマルチカメラ・プロショット。最新配信のベスト・マスターだけにオフィシャル級でも当然とは思いますが、それにしても美しい。画質・音質・ミックス・カメラワーク……何から何まで文句の付けようがない。さらに美味しいのがヨーロッパの夏フェスならではのムード。緯度の高いヨーロッパの夏は昼間が長く開放的なわけですが、特に北欧ともなれば極端。夜21時ごろになってやっと日が暮れ始め、そこから急に夜になっていく。そのため、大トリのTHE CUREでも開演時にはまだ会場は明るいのですが、約２時間15分ほどの持ち時間の間に真夜中になってしまう。最初は照明なしでも機材までハッキリ見えて野外会場の開放感たっぷりなのですが、ショウが進むほどに闇夜が深くなり、幻想的なライトショウや巨大スクリーンの映像美が支配していく。それこそ１曲１曲で表情が変わり、まつで違うショウのように鮮やかなのです。 自然光まで演出めいた映像美で描かれるショウは、先日の日本公演も鮮やかに甦りつつ、似て非なるもの。先述の通り、日本公演はエデン・ギャラップがベースを務めていましたが、本作ではサイモンが復帰。エデンも父親そっくりなベースを完璧に弾きこなしていたようにも思えましたが、やはり本人のグルーヴは本物感たっぷりです。そして、セットも異なる。『THE HEAD ON THE DOOR』『DISINTEGRATION』を軸としつつ、幅広くキャリアを見渡す構成は共通しているものの、日本では聴けなかった名曲もたっぷり。特に多いのは80年代初期のレパートリーで、「Primary」の他、『PORNOGRAPHY』の「A ...
