GUNS N ‘ROSES is planning to start the tour in the fall and then make full-scale production of the long-awaited new work. The latest and superb video of the slash that was made just before that.
Included in this work is “August 4, 2019 Chicago Performance”. This is a multi-camera pro shot when performing at Miles Kennedy and the world-famous festival “Lola Paloosa”. As mentioned earlier, Slash has been announced to focus on tours and recordings with GUNS from autumn, but the main activity in 2019 is solo. First of all, let’s check the show position with the schedule announced so far in order to know the circumstances.

This is the 2019 slash. This year has been a solo activity since the beginning of the year, and today is the time when this article is updated. From next month, GUNS N ‘ROSES will finally be restarted. Under such circumstances, the Lola Paloosa performance of this work was the concert corresponding to the 14th performance of the final edition “North America” ​​leg.
“Lola Palusa” is a world-famous festival of course. For this reason, this show was shot with a multi-camera and distributed worldwide. This work is a DVD of the pro shot. The quality is completely official. I think it’s natural that the latest professional shots are superb, but it’s not just an official grade just for the global “Lola Paloosa”. The crew is clearly a professional pro, the mix and recording are perfect, the angle is dynamic, the cut is full of sense and the music is perfectly synchronized. It’s a transcendent video beauty that embodies a “pro-shot” that can’t be found in a country festival.

… and it looks like this. Although it is a short set due to the appearance of the festival, it concentrates on two songs, “APOCALYPTIC LOVE” and “LIVING THE DREAM”. In fact, although it is a song that can be seen in the official video work “LIVING THE DREAM TOUR” to be released next month, the atmosphere of the show is totally different. The official work is a dark indoor concert only in London’s “Eventim Apollo (former: Hammersmith Apollo)”, but “Lola Palusa” is an outdoor festival. In the distance from the venue, you can enjoy plenty of summery feeling with the unique mood of buildings. Speaking of professional shots of outdoor festivals, “ROCK AM RING 2019 (Shades 1066)”, which was also very popular in our shop, is a new memory, but it is not. “ROCK AM RING” was performed all day long in bright sunlight, while “Lola Palusa” appeared at dusk. At the start of the performance, the mood of the afternoon is still drifting, and each time one or more songs are layered, the dusk deepens and is replaced by colorful lighting. The transition synchronizes with the show’s enthusiasm, and the dark nights of the city are exuding and sharpening the edges of the show.

秋にはツアーを控え、その後は待望の新作の製作も本格化するというGUNS N’ ROSES。その直前に行われたスラッシュの最新・極上映像が登場です。
そんな本作に収められているのは「2019年８月４日シカゴ公演」。マイルズ・ケネディと世界的な有名フェス“ロラパルーザ”に出演した際のマルチカメラ・プロショットです。先述のように、スラッシュは秋からGUNSとのツアーやレコーディングに集中すると表明されていますが、2019年のメイン活動はあくまでソロ。まずは、その事情を知る意味でも現在までに公表されているスケジュールでショウのポジションを確かめてみましょう。

これが2019年のスラッシュ。今年は年始からソロ活動に邁進しており、本稿が更新される今日がまさにツアー千秋楽でもある。来月からは、いよいよGUNS N’ ROSESの再始動です。そんな中で本作のロラパルーザ公演は、最終盤「北米」レッグ14公演目にあたるコンサートでした。
“ロラパルーザ”は言わずもがなの世界的超有名フェス。それだけにこのショウはマルチカメラで撮影され、全世界的に配信。本作は、そのプロショットをDVD化したものなのです。そのクオリティはまさに完全オフィシャル級。最新プロショットが超極上なのは当たり前という気もしますが、世界的な“ロラパルーザ”だけに単なる公式級ではない。クルーは明らかにプロ中のプロであり、ミックスも収録も完璧ですし、アングルはダイナミックを極め、カット割りはセンスたっぷりで楽曲と完全シンクロ。そんじょそこらの田舎フェスではあり得ない“プロショットかくあるべし”を体現する超絶の映像美なのです。
そんな映像美で描かれるショウは、GUNS N’ ROSESに通じながらもそれだけに囚われないスラッシュの名曲ラッシュ。ここでその内容を整理しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。フェス出演なためにショート・セットでもありますが、その中で『APOCALYPTIC LOVE』『LIVING THE DREAM』の２枚にこだわって名曲を濃縮している。実のところ、来月リリース予定のオフィシャル映像作『LIVING THE DREAM TOUR』でもすべて観られる曲ではあるのですが、ショウの雰囲気はまるで違う。オフィシャル作はロンドンの“イベンティム・アポロ（旧：ハマースミス・アポロ）”だけに暗い屋内コンサートなわけですが、“ロラパルーザ”は屋外フェス。会場遠方にはビル群がそびえ立つ独特なムードで、夏らしい開放感がたっぷりと味わえるのです。また、屋外フェスのプロショットと言えば、当店でも大人気を博した『ROCK AM RING 2019（Shades 1066）』も記憶に新しいところですが、それとも違う。“ROCK AM RING”は終始日差しの明るい日中に行われましたが、“ロラパルーザ”は夕暮れ時の出演。開演時にはまだまだ昼下がりなムードを漂わせつつ、１曲また１曲と重ねる度に夕闇が深くなり、色とりどりの照明に取って代わられていく。その変遷がショウの熱気と見事にシンクロしており、薄暗い都会の夜の“ヤバさ”が滲み出し、ショウのエッジを鋭くしていくのです。

「欧州#1」から生まれたオフィシャル作『LIVING THE DREAM TOUR』、「欧州#2」の代表作『ROCK AM RING 2019』、そして本国アメリカ編とも言える本作。GUNS N’ ROSESとソロを平行させるようになったスラッシュの超極上プロショット３部作でも最新の映像作品です。オフィシャル映像の姉妹作としても、GUNSの最新作に向けてカウントダウンする“今”を噛みしめるにも見逃せない１枚。どうぞ、じっくりとお楽しみください。
