Rory Gallagher / Offenbach 1979 / 2CDR / Uxbridge
Stadthalle, Offenbach, Germany 9th October 1979
“Bad Penny” was appointed to the movie “Last Night in Soho” released in 2021, and “TOP PRIORITY” which is suddenly attracting attention, such as the young band ASH RED of Isle and covering “Philby”. Rory Gallagher of the era. Introducing a live album where you can experience the best of 1979, when you were on the hard rock road.
It is “October 9, 1979 Offenbach performance” that is imbued with such a work. It is the best audience recording. Speaking of 1979, it became (a part of) official works such as “ROCKPALAST”, “LIVE AT MONTREUX” and “NOTES FROM SAN FRANCISCO”, and the masterpiece sound board album “SITTARD 1979 (Uxbridge 1341)” was also very popular at our shop. .. First of all, let’s check the position of this work while organizing the situation with the schedule.
・ January 1st-March 4th: Europe # 1 (23 performances)
<< April “TOP PRIORITY” completed >>
・ April 29-May 14: Europe # 2 (3 performances) ← * ROCK PALAST
・ July 7-18 / August 18: Europe # 3 (4 performances) ← * MONTREUX
・ August 22nd-September 15th: North America # 1 (26 performances)
“September 26,” TOP PRIORITY “released”
・ September 19th-November 3rd: Europe # 4 (31 performances) ← ★ Coco ★
・ November 14th-December 7th: North America # 2 (14 performances) ← * NOTES FROM SAN FRANCISCO
This is Rory Gallagher in 1979. While completing “TOP PRIORITY” in early spring, it will be released in autumn. The Offenbach performance of this work is “Europe # 4” which started immediately after the long-awaited release even in the main battlefield Europe. It was the 15th performance of the concert. Our “SITTARD 1979” is also the same “Europe # 4”, and this work was 9 days before that masterpiece.
This work recorded at such a show is a very thick and tight superb audience recording ……, maybe. I suddenly became weak, but it’s so powerful. Actually, the gene excavated by the prestigious “Krw_co” is also an obvious audience recording (reel master of the 1st gene), but the sound flowing out of the speaker does not have a feeling of air. The thick core and fine details do not seem to be a microphone recording through the atmosphere, and the bass, which tends to be a weak point in the audience, is super clear.
Of course, there is no sense of air, so there is no sense of distance, and I don’t think it’s an audience in terms of timbre. Compared to the genuine sound board “SITTARD 1979”, the stereo feeling of the bread that blows to the left and right is not, but it is not monaural and the separate feeling is also wonderful. That’s the tight sound that makes you want to blame others like an elementary school student, saying, “Because Krw_co says it’s an audience.”
The 1979 full show that was burning hard was drawn with such a thick and close contact sound. Here, let’s organize the set while comparing it with the latest “SITTARD 1979”.
● Original album (12 songs)
・ TATTOO: Tattoo’d Lady
・ AGAINST THE GRAIN: Bought And Sold / Out On The Western Plain (Red Belly)
・ CALLING CARD: Do You Read Me (★) / Moonchild / Calling Card (★) / Secret Agent
・ PHOTO-FINISH: Shadow Play
・ TOP PRIORITY: Wayward Child / Follow Me / Bad Penny / Philby (★)
● Other covers (5 songs)
・ I Wonder Who (Muddy Waters) / As The Crow Flies (Tony Joe White) / Going To My Hometown (Trad) / Bullfrog Blues (Trad) / Messin’With The Kid (★: Junior Wells)
* Note: The “★” mark is a song that could not be heard on the masterpiece sound board “SITTARD 1979 (Uxbridge 1341)”.
…… And it looks like this. Unlike “SITTARD 1979”, which was edited along the radio broadcast frame, this work has a wonderful penetration unique to the audience, and the rare “Do You Read Me” “Calling Card” and “Philby” introduced at the beginning. You can also enjoy it with a very thick sound.
Rory Gallagher who finished the golden 70’s with a hot and hard sound. It is a new excavation live album that you can fully experience such a fulfilling period with a thick and close contact sound. The masterpiece of the sound board “SITTARD 1979” was also wonderful enough to be called a semi-official work, but this work is a new masterpiece that surpasses the volume of songs while being thin with sound. Please enjoy it to your heart’s content.
★ The best audience recording of “October 9, 1979 Offenbach performance”. The sound digitized directly from the 1st Gene Reel excavated from the prestigious “Krw_co” does not have a feeling of air, and if the core is extremely thick, the details are fine. It is a close-fitting sound comparable to the masterpiece “SITTARD 1979 (Uxbridge 1341)” of the genuine sound board. It is a new masterpiece that you can enjoy rare songs such as “Do You Read Me”, “Calling Card” and “Philby” that cannot be heard in “SITTARD 1979:” with a thick sound.
