In 1995, the second performance of the Ringo All Stars in Japan, it was settled on the TV broadcast of the Budokan, and the other tours had almost no sound source released. “BUDOKAN 1995 2ND NIGHT” is a masterpiece that has thrown a stone of maniac madness in such a situation. A real document that recorded the day when it was broadcast on TV with the best audience recording, and captured the cut songs perfectly in the broadcast, or a masterpiece that became a very meaningful release as “Another Side of Budokan” is.
However, it is a fact that it was the sound source of the same day as the standard video. In that case, it would be tempting to ask another day from the 1995 performance in Japan, where there are few items. The Osaka performance released by UXBRIDGE will fulfill the wishes of such enthusiasts.
The source of the release is the exclusive DAT master audience, which has never been distributed among traders. What surprises me most is the on-sound image. The sound is quite soundboard-like, and you can clearly hear the play of each All Stars. However, since the sound was recorded close to each other, there were some places where distortion occurred, so it was unfortunately the release on CD-R.
However, the sound quality is more than compensated for this slight distortion. It would be good news for Japanese enthusiasts that they finally came to Japan in 1995 for performances other than the Budokan, and that they were able to hear with such sound quality.

The TV broadcast of Budokan was at the end of the tour, but this is around the middle of the tour. In addition to that, the sound quality is also good, and it captures the atmosphere of the day, which is completely different from the Budokan. As a matter of fact, the performance in Japan was also the first live activity of All Stars in 1995, so it can be said that the day of the TV broadcast can be called the “completed form at the beginning of the tour”. In that respect, the Osaka performance has digested the initial schedule of the performance in Japan and captures the stage where the members can perform without danger.
In particular, the apple seems to be extremely relaxed, and he talks happily even if he doesn’t understand English from beginning to end. The feeling of relaxation on this day was even more striking because there was no proposition of video recording like the Budokan.
In addition, the 1995 All-Stars are easy to hear because two American musicians, Billy Preston and former Grand Funk Railroad Mark Farner, are good at partitioning and each member’s performance progresses crisply. The charm of the 1995 version of All Stars. A relaxed apple is added to that, so you can feel the fun and relaxing atmosphere that is different from the Budokan with the best sound quality.

John Entwistle, one of the highlights of the 1995 All-Stars, couldn’t sing his “My Wife” at the Budokan at the end of the tour, probably because he was tired, and the song saw the cut from the broadcast. However, it is only in the middle of the tour that you can sing well here in Osaka. In addition, Felix Cavaliere, who was more prominent than Entwistle for enthusiasts, included “My Girl” of The Temptations in “Groovin'” at the Budokan, but here “Just My Imagination” of the same Temptations is included. A scene of singing instead appears. Of course, Entwistle has already sung “Boris the Spider” in Japanese at this point.
Also in the apple repertoire, the arrangement that “Honey Don’t” starts with Presley’s “Jailhouse Rock” style intro is unique to All Stars at this time. A first-appearing audience recording that captures a happy day in a relaxed atmosphere that is different from the classic Budokan. I’m sorry to all the enthusiasts who wanted to hear about days other than the Budokan even when they came to Japan in 1995!

リンゴ・オールスターズ二度目の来日公演となった1995年は武道館のテレビ放送で決着がついてしまい、他はまったくと言っていいほど音源がリリースされないツアーとなってしまいました。そんな状況にマニア狂喜の一石を投じてくれた名盤が「BUDOKAN 1995 2ND NIGHT」。テレビ放送された日を極上のオーディエンス録音で収録し、放送ではカットされた曲もばっちり捉えたリアル・ドキュメント、あるいは「アナザーサイド・オブ・武道館」として大変に意義のあるリリースとなった名盤です。
とは言っても定番映像と同じ日の音源であったことは事実。となればアイテムがただでさえ少ない95年来日公演から別の日を聞いてみたくなるというもの。そんなマニアの願いを叶えるのが今回UXBRIDGEからリリースされる大阪公演。
リリースに際して元になるのはこれまでトレーダー間にも一切出回っていなかった独占入手のDATマスター・オーディエンス。そこで何より驚かされるのはオンな音像。かなりサウンドボードチックな音の近さであり、オールスターズ各人のプレイも明瞭に聞き取れる。ただし音が近く録れたが故に若干ながら歪みの生じる個所が散見されたことから、惜しくもCD-Rでのリリースと相成りました。
とはいえ、この微弱な歪みを補って余りある音の良さ。ようやく武道館以外の公演の95年来日が、しかもこれほどまでの音質で聞かれるようになった事は日本のマニアにとって吉報でしょう。

また武道館のテレビ放送はツアーの終盤だった訳ですが、こちらはツアーが中盤に差し掛かる辺り。そこに加えて音質が良いこともあり、武道館とまったく違った当日の雰囲気まで捉えてくれている。実のところ来日公演は95年のオールスターズ最初のライブ活動でもあった訳で、テレビ放送の日が「ツアー初期の完成形」とも呼べる状態の記録と言えました。その点、大阪公演は来日公演の初期スケジュールを消化し、メンバーが危なげなく演奏できるようになった段階を捉えてくれています。
特にリンゴは極めてリラックスしている様子で、終始ご機嫌に英語が通じなくとも楽しそうに語り掛けてくれる。武道館のような映像収録という命題がない分、なおさらこの日のリラックス感は際立っていました。
それに95年のオールスターズは以前からのメンバーであるビリー・プレストンと元グランド・ファンク・レイルロードのマーク・ファーナーという二人のアメリカ人ミュージシャンが仕切り上手で各メンバーの演奏がサクサク進行して聞きやすいのも95年版オールスターズの魅力。そこにリラックスしたリンゴが加わるものだから、武道館とは違った楽しげでくつろいだ雰囲気を最高の音質で感じてもらえるのでは。

95年オールスターズにおける目玉メンバーの一人だったジョン・エントウィッスルはツアー終盤だった武道館では自身の「My Wife」が疲労のせいか歌えておらず、同曲が放送からカットの憂き目を見てしまったわけですが、ここ大阪ではしっかり歌えているのもツアー中盤ならでは。またマニアにとってはエントウィッスル以上に目玉的存在だったフェリックス・キャバリエは武道館だと「Groovin’」の中でテンプテーションズの「My Girl」を盛り込んでいましたが、ここでは同じテンプスの「Just My Imagination」を代わりに歌うという場面が登場。もちろんエントウィッスルはこの時点でも既に「ボリス・ザ・クモ」と日本語を交えて歌ってくれています。
またリンゴのレパートリーにしても「Honey Don’t」がプレスリーの「監獄ロック」風イントロで始まるアレンジがこの時期のオールスターズならではかと。定番たる武道館とはまたちがった、大らかな雰囲気の中で行われたご機嫌な一日を捉えた初登場オーディエンス録音。95年の来日でも武道館以外の日を聞いてみたかったというマニアの皆様、お待たせしました！
