A performance in Japan in 2022, when the unexpected string co-star was realized. Two latest live albums will be released at the same time, where you can experience the best of the symphonic shows that have been acclaimed in various places!
This work is the second of two simultaneous releases. This is a superlative audience recording of the performance of “September 18, 2022: Club Citta Kawasaki”. This visit to Japan is only for two performances at CLUB CITTA’. This work is a live album that vacuum-packed the whole story of the last day. These two works are also sister works. It was recorded by Mr. “West Japan’s strongest taper” who is familiar with our shop. In other words, you can fully experience the two performances in Japan with a sense of unity of the same venue, the same equipment, and the same recording artist.

The sound of this work is as superb as a painting. As mentioned in the commentary on the sister work “KAWASAKI 2022 1ST NIGHT (Amity 696)”, Mr. “Strongest” is unique in progressive rock along with HR / HM, and Club Citta Kawasaki, a mecca for progressive rock tours to Japan Naturally familiar. In addition, CARAVAN captured at “KAWASAKI 2019 (Amity 565)” three years ago, and this is the second day at the same venue. We are facing a perfect system with no bad elements.
Naturally, the sound of this work lives up to that expectation…not more. I wrote that the close contact with the sister work “KAWASAKI 2022 1ST NIGHT” is “like an official”, but this work has transcended even more! “I don’t know how to express this…” The guitar picking, the synth edge, the vocal breathing… all the edges are crisp and sharp, and even if you listen carefully with headphones, you can’t feel the presence of the atmosphere. If “1ST NIGHT” is a feeling right in front of you, this work will give you the immersive feeling of being on stage with the members. Far from zero distance, it is a synchronous feeling that the band rises into the brain.
“This factor is probably… or should I say, definitely position.” It seems that the sister work “1ST NIGHT” was around the 10th row, but this work is closer to the 5th row. Of course, if it is too far forward, there is a risk that the sound will wrap around, but the fifth row is not so far, and there is no way that the master craftsman “Strongest” would make such a rudimentary mistake in the first place. The sound captured after calculating the distance / direction to the PA is exactly “Isn’t this a sound board?” If “1ST NIGHT” is an official grade with a sense of pouring sound, this work is a “desktop sound board grade” that protrudes in a synchronized feeling that becomes one with the performance sound.
A full show similar to “1ST NIGHT” is drawn with such a different dimension sound. Let’s put it together in the same format as the sister work.

“More important than that is the performance itself.” Mark Walker’s beat is youthful, tight and aggressive, and Lee Pomeroy, the bassist who has been my partner since last year, is a veteran master who is also known for his activities with ELO, YE feat. ARW, and Steve Hackett. There is no complaints about the lively performance that is currently in season, and it pulls the show. Jeffrey Richardson and Jan Schellhaas, who are the cornerstones of the ensemble, ride on it. They also play wonderfully as if they were rejuvenated. And above all, Pie Hastings. In advance, he said, “This time will be my last visit to Japan,” and the guitar and singing voice echoed with the depth of that feeling.
The previous visit to Japan three years ago was a miracle for the first time in 14 years, but this time it was a wonderful stage that made a big impression. This work is a 3-disc set that allows you to fully experience the final performance with an unbelievable sound of “desk directly connected sound board class”. This work itself is a masterpiece of the work that Japan is proud of, and if you combine it with the previous day’s work “KAWASAKI 2022 1ST NIGHT”, you can fully experience the entire visit to Japan. In other words, if you combine it with “KAWASAKI 2019”, you can complete 18 years of live in Japan at the same venue and the same recording artist collection.  本作は2作同時リリースの第二弾。「2022年9月18日:クラブチッタ川崎」公演の超絶級オーディエンス録音です。今回の来日は、クラブチッタでの2公演のみ。本作は、その最終日の一部始終を真空パックしたライヴアルバムなのです。また、今回の2作品は姉妹作でもある。記録したのは、当店でお馴染みの“西日本最強テーパー”氏。つまり、同会場・同機材・同録音家の統一感で来日2公演を丸ごとフル体験できてしまうのです。
 
 そんな本作のサウンドは、画に描いたような超極上。姉妹作『KAWASAKI 2022 1ST NIGHT(Amity 696)』の解説でも触れましたが、“最強”氏はHR/HMと並んでプログレッシヴ・ロックを特異としており、プログレ来日のメッカであるクラブチッタ川崎も当然お馴染み。さらにCARAVANは3年前の『KAWASAKI 2019(Amity 565)』で攻略しておりますし、今回は同会場の2日目。悪くなる要素が何もない万全の体制で臨んでいるのです。
 当然、本作のサウンドはその期待通り……ではなく、それ以上。姉妹作『KAWASAKI 2022 1ST NIGHT』のド密着感を「まるでオフィシャル」と書きましたが、本作はさらに超越してきたのです! これは……どう表現した良いものか……。ギターのピッキング、シンセのエッジ、ヴォーカルの息づかい……すべてのエッジがキリッと切り立っており、ヘッドフォンで耳を澄ませても大気の存在を感じられない。『1ST NIGHT』が目の前感覚だとしたら、本作はメンバーと一緒にステージに上がっているような没入感。ゼロ距離どころか、バンドが脳内にズカズカと上がり込んでくるようなシンクロ感なのです。
 この要因は恐らく……と言いますか、絶対にポジションでしょう。姉妹作『1ST NIGHT』は10列付近だったそうですが、本作はグッと近づいた5列目。もちろん前すぎると音が回り込んでしまう恐れもあるわけですが、5列目はそこまでではなく、そもそも名匠“最強”氏がそんな初歩的なミスを犯すわけがない。PAとの距離/方向もキッチリと計算した上で捉えたサウンドは、まさしく「コレでサウンドボードじゃないの?」。『1ST NIGHT』が鳴りの降り注ぎ感まで整ったオフィシャル級とするなら、本作は演奏音と一体になるシンクロ感に突出した「卓直結サウンドボード級」なのです。
 そんな異次元サウンドで描かれるのは、『1ST NIGHT』と似て非なるフルショウ。姉妹作と同じ形式でまとめ直しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。『1ST NIGHT』との違いはラストのアンコール。前日はクラシックスの「If I Could Do It All Over Again, I’d Do It All Over You」で締めましたが、本作は『PARADISE FILTER』の「I’m on My Way」でフィニッシュしています。
 それ以上に重要なのは、演奏そのもの。マーク・ウォーカーのビートは若々しくタイトでアグレッシブですし、昨年から相棒を務めているベースのリー・ポメロイはELOやYE feat. ARW、スティーブ・ハケットとの活動でも知られる歴戦の名手。今が旬の現役バリバリな演奏は文句の付けようがなく、ショウをグイグイと引っぱる。その上に乗るのがアンサンブルの要となるジェフリー・リチャードソンやヤン・シェルハース。彼らも若返ったかのように素晴らしい演奏を聴かせてくれる。そして何より、パイ・ヘイスティングス。事前に「今回が(私の)最後の来日になるだろう」と語っており、その想いの丈が籠もったような滋味深いギターと歌声を響かせているのです。
 3年前の前回来日も14年ぶりの奇跡でしたが、今回は輪をかけて大感動を呼ぶ素晴らしいステージでした。本作は、その最終公演を「卓直結サウンドボード級」という信じがたいサウンドでフル体験できる3枚組なのです。本作自体が日本の誇る御長く作品の名作ですし、前日作『KAWASAKI 2022 1ST NIGHT』と併せれば、来日全体をフル体験できる。もっと言えば、『KAWASAKI 2019』とも併せれば、18年間のライヴ・イン・ジャパンを同会場・同録音家コレクションでコンプリートできるのです。超極上オーディエンス録音だけが可能にする愉しみに溢れた、絶世の三姉妹作。どうぞ、心ゆくまで存分に味わい尽くしてください。
