The 50th anniversary special project “50 Years Live !: From the Aerosmith Vaults” is shocking among collectors around the world. The superb video, which was a limited release for a week, is now available on DVD.
What is recorded in this work is “June 24th + 25th, 1977 Houston performance”. This is a multi-camera pro shot compiled from two consecutive performances. “50 Years Live !: From the Aerosmith Vaults” is a live archive project on the official channel of AEROSMITH. In the history of 50 years, we will release the symbolic professional shots of each era. The lineup is a standard item for collectors, but quality is not familiar to them. It’s much more beautiful than before … It’s a super-upgrade with a different dimension that “I don’t think it’s the same image anymore”. After all, instead of rebroadcasting at that time, it was transferred directly back to the original master tape, and then HD remastered. Its quality is completely official (as a matter of course). It does not mean that it can be released officially, but it is a genuine official image that the genuine official side has taken the budget and time to create and send out with prestige.
However, despite the beauty of the video, the release period is only one week. Some of you may have missed it, and I want to see it whenever I want. This work is a DVD to respond to such feelings.
That’s why the quality of this work is the ultimate. However, the content is a little different from just an upgrade. To explain that, let’s first look back at the show position from the schedule at that time.

“December 9,” DRAW THE LINE “released”

This is AEROSMITH in 1976/1977. 1977 is the time when the two tours “ROCKS Tour” and “DRAW THE LINE Tour” intersect, but the switch is the legendary first visit to Japan. The “ROCKS Tour” is until the first visit to Japan, and the “DRAW THE LINE Tour” is from “North America # 3” five months later. The Houston 2 performance of this work was the 3rd / 4th performance of “North America # 3”.
Full-scale professional shots were unearthed for each of these two performances, but the “From the Aerosmith Vaults” version released this time is an edited work assembled from both performances. Moreover, it took about 85 minutes per performance, but this time it has been reassembled in about 1 hour. So which song is selected? Let’s organize it by comparing it with the full set.

… And it looks like this. It must be an “incomplete version”, but only three songs were cut. You can see that the number of songs is quite large. Speaking of 1977, professional shots of Lago performances are also a staple, but it is also a nice point that “Adam’s Apple” and “Sick As A Dog” that can not be seen there are firmly left.
And more than that is the “feeling of work” that the dense highlights are uninterrupted because it is edited. When it comes to live works, the highest value tends to be placed on the complete reproduction of the scene, but in reality, it is more important to be “cool to listen” and “fun to watch.” This 50th anniversary project is not a broadcast but a distribution, and if you want to do it, a complete version should have been possible. Nevertheless, it is hard to think of the reason for narrowing down other than “completeness as a musical work”, and it is finished as a masterpiece video that has undergone tremendous creation to support it.
As a fan psychology, it is true that I wanted to see the full version of the show, but the overwhelming visual beauty and spectacularness are so amazing that I forget it. It is a masterpiece that should be handed down as an eternal masterpiece. It is wrong that such a video disappears in a week. DVD release for that. AEROSMITH in 1977 was dangerous, dangerous and incredibly sexy. Please enjoy it anytime!

そんな本作に記録されているのは「1977年６月24日＋25日ヒューストン公演」。２連続公演から編纂されたマルチカメラ・プロショットです。“50 Years Live!: From the Aerosmith Vaults”とは、AEROSMITHの公式チャンネルで行われているライヴ・アーカイヴ企画。50年に及ぶ歴史の中で、各時代の象徴プロショットを公開していくものです。そのラインナップはコレクター諸兄にとっては大定番なものばかりなのですが、お馴染みじゃないのはクオリティ。従来とは格段に綺麗……と言いますか、もはや「同じ映像とは思えない」という次元違いの超アップグレードなのです。何しろ、当時の再放送などではなく、オリジナルのマスター・テープに遡ってダイレクトにトランスファーし、その上でHDリマスターを施している。そのクオリティは（当たり前の事ながら）完全オフィシャル級。それも「オフィシャルで出せそう」という意味ではなく、正真正銘のオフィシャル・サイドが予算と時間をかけて作り上げ、威信をかけて送り出してきた正真正銘のオフィシャル映像なのです。
しかし、それだけの映像美でありながら公開期間はわずか一週間。見逃してしまった方もいらっしゃるでしょうし、今後いつでも好きなときに観たい。本作は、そんな気持ちに応えるためのDVD化なのです。
と言うわけで、本作のクオリティは究極。しかし、内容は単なるアップグレードともちょっと違います。その辺をご説明するためにも、まずは当時のスケジュールからショウポジションを振り返ってみましょう。

これが1976年／1977年のAEROSMITH。1977年は２つのツアー“ROCKS Tour”と“DRAW THE LINE Tour”が交錯する時期ですが、その切り替えは伝説の初来日。初来日までが“ROCKS Tour”であり、その５ヶ月後の「北米#3」からが“DRAW THE LINE Tour”です。本作のヒューストン２公演は、その「北米#3」の３公演目／４公演目にあたるコンサートでした。
この２公演はそれぞれフル・スケールのプロショットが発掘されていたのですが、今回公開された“From the Aerosmith Vaults”バージョンは両公演から組まれた編集作品。しかも１公演につき約85分でしたが、今回は約１時間に組み直されているのです。では、どの曲が選ばれているのか。ここでフル・セットと比較しながら整理してみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。確かに「不完全版」には違いないものの、カットされたのは３曲だけ。かなりの曲数ボリュームなのが分かって頂けるでしょう。1977年と言えば、ラーゴ公演のプロショットも定番ですが、そこでは観られない「Adam’s Apple」「Sick As A Dog」がしっかり残されているのも嬉しいポイントです。
そして、それ以上なのが編集されているからこそ濃密な見どころが途切れない「作品感」。ライヴ作品というと現場の完全再現に至上価値が置かれがちですが、実はそれ以上に「聴いてカッコイイ」「観て楽しい」ことが重要。今回の50周年企画は放送ではなく配信であり、やろうと思えば完全版も可能だったはず。それにも関わらず絞り込んだ理由は「音楽作品としての完成度」以外には考えづらく、それを裏付けるような凄まじい作り込みを経た名作映像に仕上がっているのです。
ファン心理としてはショウの完全版が観たかったのも偽らざるところではありますが、それを忘れてしまうほど圧倒的な映像美と見応えも凄すぎる。まさに永遠の名作として語り継がれるべき大傑作です。これほどの映像が一週間で消えてしまうなんて間違っています。そのためのDVDリリース。ヤバくて危険でとてつもなくセクシーだった1977年のAEROSMITH。どうぞ、いつでも存分にお楽しみください！
