With Billy Sherwood / Igor Khoroshev, YES in 1998, which became the strongest lineup in 1990. Introducing a super-decision board where you can enjoy the full show.
What is recorded in this work is “March 31, 1998 Budapest performance”. This is a 3-disc set with the stereo soundboard recording on DISC 1-2 and the multi-camera pro shot on DISC 3. Igor joined YES in 1997. Participated as a guest in “OPEN YOUR EYES” and accompanied the tour as it was. It has been upgraded to an official member. At that time, the absence of Rick Wakeman was anxious, but Igor, who has a deep understanding of YES Songs, is more than just a technician. The ensemble, which evolved gorgeously with the participation of multiplayer Billy, was whispered as the strongest in history.
The live of such a strongest era was left in the official video “HOUSE OF YES: LIVE FROM HOUSE OF BLUES”, but of course this work is a separate performance. First, let’s look back on the history of “6 people YES” and confirm the position of the show.

《Billy Sherwood withdrawal》

This is the process from Igor participation to Billy withdrawal. The official “HOUSE OF YES” was after “THE LADDER”, but the Budapest performance of this work was about a year and a half ago. It was the 28th performance of “Europe # 1”.
Such a show was recorded professionally and broadcast, probably because it was the first performance in Hungary. This work is a three-disc set created by the best master. Its quality is very good. First of all, the sound board version (DISC 1-2), but this is not the sound drop of the pro shot version (described later). I don’t know the details because it’s Eastern Europe in the 90’s, but it’s probably FM broadcasting. The mix is ​​clearly different from Proshot, with a focus on “good” things like keyboards, guitars and vocals. In addition, it is a mix table direct connection system with almost no enthusiasm of the audience, and the bread that flies to the left and right is super vivid. It’s a soundboard album where you can enjoy the intricately intertwined melody in a different dimension.
And, instead of Pro Shot (DISC 3). This voice is proportional. The rhythm section is also mixed with a balance that is comparable to the finest, and the thick midrange is also dynamic. The sound board version (DISC 1-2) was recorded from a mix table without any processing, but it feels like it is prepared for home audio playback. More important than that is (naturally) video. The image quality that emphasizes the highlights digitally cannot be touted as “completely official grade!”, But the vivid vividness and noiseless luster are tremendous. As long as you are prepared for the resolution, you can enjoy the full show comfortably and beautifully.
The sound board / pro shot is a full show of “6 people YES”, which is said to be the strongest. It’s quite different from the official “HOUSE OF YES”, so let’s organize it while comparing it.

Billy left YES in the spring of 2000 and Igor left YES in the summer. “6 people YES”, which boasts the strongest playing ability, has ended. The historically famous “8 people YES” was a gorgeous but distracting ensemble, but the “6 people YES” was different. It was an era when we focused on symphonic progressive rock, and focused only on “music” without regard to name recognition and star character. This work is a decisive board where you can enjoy the heavy ensemble with a sound board / pro shot. An extremely fresh 3-disc set as a sequel to the official “HOUSE OF YES”. Please enjoy it carefully.

そんな本作に記録されているのは「1998年３月31日ブダペスト公演」。そのステレオ・サウンドボード録音をDISC 1-2、マルチカメラ・プロショットをDISC 3に配した３枚組です。イゴールがYESに合流したのは1997年。『OPEN YOUR EYES』にゲスト参加し、そのままツアーにも同行。正式メンバーへと格上げされました。当時はリック・ウェイクマン不在が不安視されましたが、YESソングスを深く理解しているイゴールは、単なるテクニシャン以上の大活躍。マルチ・プレイヤーのビリーの参加もあってゴージャスに進化したアンサンブルは、史上最強とも囁かれました。
そんな最強時代のライヴは公式映像『HOUSE OF YES: LIVE FROM HOUSE OF BLUES』にも残されましたが、本作はもちろん別公演。まずは「６人YES」の歩みを振り返り、ショウのポジションを確かめてみましょう。

《ビリー・シャーウッド離脱》

これがイゴール参加からビリー離脱までの歩み。公式『HOUSE OF YES』は『THE LADDER』以降だったわけですが、本作のブダペスト公演はそれより約１年半前。「欧州#1」の28公演目にあたるコンサートでした。
そんなショウは初のハンガリー公演ということもあってかプロ収録されて放送。本作は、そのベスト・マスターから起こされた３枚組なのです。そのクオリティは非常に素晴らしい。まずサウンドボード篇（DISC 1-2）ですが、これは（後述する）プロショット篇の音落としではない。90年代の東欧という事もあって詳細は分からないのですが、恐らくはFM放送なのでしょう。ミックスがプロショットと明らかに異なっており、キーボードやギター、ヴォーカルといった「上物」に焦点が当てられている。また、観客の熱狂もほとんどないミックス卓直結系でもありまして、左右にブッ飛ぶパンも超・鮮烈。複雑に絡み合うメロディを異次元感覚に味わえるサウンドボード・アルバムなのです。
そして、代わってのプロショット篇（DISC 3）。こちらの音声は均整型。リズム隊も上物に負けないバランスでミックスされており、厚みのある中音域もダイナミック。サウンドボード篇（DISC 1-2）はいかにもミックス卓から無加工で録音した感じでしたが、こちらは家庭用オーディオ再生用に整えられている感じです。それ以上に注目なのが（当然）映像。デジタルでハイライトを強調したような画質は「完全オフィシャル級！」と喧伝するわけにもいかないのですが、その分ビビッドな鮮やかさもノイズレスな艶やかさも絶大。解像度さえ覚悟すれば、快適に美しくフルショウを楽しめるのです。
そんなサウンドボード／プロショットで描かれるのは、最強と言われた「６人YES」のフルショウ。公式『HOUSE OF YES』とはかなり違いますので、比較しながら整理してみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。普段であれば、被っていないレア曲に「★」印を付けるところですが、今回は被っている曲が５つしかない。ツアーが異なるために変化を付けたのでしょうが、おかげで本作も『HOUSE OF YES』に馴染みまくった耳にも極めて新鮮に響くのです。
2000年春にはビリーが、夏にはイゴールがYESを離脱。最強の演奏力を誇った「６人YES」は終了しました。歴史に名高い「８人YES」はメンツこそ豪華ではあってもアンサンブル的には散漫でもありましたが、「６人YES」は違った。シンフォニックなプログレッシヴ・ロックに絞り、知名度やスター性も度外視でひたすら「音楽」だけにフォーカスした時代でした。本作は、その重厚アンサンブルをサウンドボード／プロショットで楽しめる決定盤なのです。公式『HOUSE OF YES』の続編としても極めて新鮮な３枚組。どうぞ、じっくりとご堪能ください。
