●100% pure IEM matrix without customer records
That’s all 8 performances. Nippon Budokan was the last highlight performance. Speaking of the IEM matrix album coming to Japan this time, “NAGOYA 2023 IEM MATRIX” was also well received, but this work is not the Budokan version. It is a transcendental album of incomparably high quality.
The biggest point is “no guest records”. “NAGOYA 2023 IEM MATRIX” is based on Joseph Williams’ IEM sound source, and Steve Lukather’s guitar is off. It was a matrix that assisted that balance with audience recording. In contrast, this work does not use any audience recording and only matrixes IEM sound sources. Of course, if the balance gets out of whack, there’s nothing wrong with it, but there’s no need to worry about that in this work. In addition to Joseph’s ear monitor, we also intercepted the confirmation channel of the PA output sound. He hits every note of every instrument perfectly.

●Official surpassing sound by master matrix
Even more amazing is the matrix editing technique. In the first place, the IEM recording that became the source of this work is an original sound source that is not open to the public, and the recording artist who intercepted it is a master of the road who has produced masterpieces and masterpieces with many artists. This work was completed by the master himself. Even though it is natural that the whole IEM sound source is compatible with the audience because it is not mixed with the audience, the IEM sound source has both strengths and weaknesses, so simply layering it will only be unnatural. It is necessary to accurately identify the missing elements of each sound source and reconstruct the TOTO ensemble while complementing each other. This work is an intercept art that could only have been achieved by the person who knows everything about IEM and who recorded it.

Each note of each instrument stands out clearly and clearly, and the sense of separation/stereo that does not blend even when they overlap is excellent. While “the experience of a concert site” is not required, in the sense of “musical work performed live”, it is a live album that is at a level that even official works cannot reach.

以上、全８公演。日本武道館はラストに控えたハイライト公演でした。今回来日のIEMマトリクス・アルバムと言えば『NAGOYA 2023 IEM MATRIX』も好評を博しましたが、本作はその武道館版……ではない。比べものにならないほどハイクオリティな超絶アルバムなのです。
その最大のポイントは「客録ナシ」。『NAGOYA 2023 IEM MATRIX』はジョセフ・ウィリアムズのIEM音源が土台となっており、スティーヴ・ルカサーのギターがオフ気味。そのバランスをオーディエンス録音で補助するマトリクスでした。それに対し、本作はオーディエンス録音は一切使われておらず、IEM音源だけをマトリクスしている。もちろん、バランスが狂ってしまっては元も子もないわけですが、本作にその心配はない。ジョセフのイヤモニに加え、PA出力音の確認チャンネルも傍受。すべての楽器のすべてのノートをばっちり押さえているのです。

●達人マトリクスによる公式超えサウンド
さらに素晴らしいのがマトリクスの編集技。そもそも本作のソースとなったIEM録音は門外不出のオリジナル音源でして、傍受した録音家は幾多のアーティストで傑作・名作を生み出してきたその道の達人。本作は、その達人自らが仕上げているのです。全編IEM音源でオーディエンスを交えないので相性が良いのは当然としても、IEM音源は長所も短所も激しいために単に重ねただけでは不自然にしかなりません。音源１本１本の足りない要素を正確に見抜き、相互補完させながらTOTOのアンサンブルを再構築していく必要があるのです。本作はIEMを知り尽くし、しかも録音した本人だからこそ成し得た傍受アートなのです。
