Steve Miller left his old Capitol label and entered the 90s. A soundboard album is now available that will let the live performance flow into his brain.
This work was recorded at “Irvine performance on August 9, 1991.” This is a stereo soundboard recording. After releasing “BORN 2B BLUE” in 1988, Steve took a break from creating his own music for a while and continued his long live career. At our store, the soundboard album “KANSAS CITY 1989 (Uxbridge 1302)” is also a standard. First, let’s take a look at the overview of the activities at the time and check the positional relationship between them.

This is Steve Miller from 1988 to 1991. Immediately after the release of the album, we performed “North America #1”, but after that, we continued to tour the United States in the summer. Under such circumstances, the Irvine performance of this work is “North America #5”, three years after the album was released. This was the 17th concert.
It is also known that such a show was broadcast on Chicago’s AOR station “WXRT”, and its FM soundboard has become one of the standard. This work is also a broadcast soundboard, but it is not a copy of an already released one, but a new master that was recently discovered. It was released by the prestigious “Krw_co” and is a masterpiece that was digitized directly from the original reel master recorded at that time.
The sound has a wonderful natural feel that transcends 32 years of time and space. The station mix, which still has a strong 80’s mood, is difficult to call “official grade!”, but its freshness is the best ever. Not only are there no dubbing marks, but there is also no sound pressure gain. During the boot bubble era of the 90’s, most air checks were processed to increase sound pressure, but this work is exactly as it was broadcast.
What is depicted with such natural FM sound is a show that concentrates the glorious career. Although it is not as long as “KANSAS CITY 1989″, perhaps due to the broadcast time frame, it is still worth listening to over 70 minutes. It includes plenty of repertoire that cannot be heard on the traditional official work “LIVE!”. Let’s check the contents here.

The album is centered around 10 songs selected from the two biggest hits, “FLY LIKE AN EAGLE” and “BOOK OF DREAMS,” and skillfully interweaves representative songs up to “ABRACADABRA.” It is also a “best album of live performances” that is neatly organized into a single piece.
This is a soundboard album in which Steve himself concentrates the essence and pours it into his brain. “KANSAS CITY 1989”, which takes advantage of its long length and allows you to enjoy a wide range of eras, was also wonderful, but this work, which has been narrowed down more tightly, also has a special taste. Please enjoy to your heart’s content with the newly discovered natural master of “Krw_co”.

古巣Capitolレーベルから離れ、90年代に臨んでいったスティーヴ・ミラー。その生演奏を脳みそに流し込んでくれるサウンドボード・アルバムが登場です。
そんな本作が記録されたのは「1991年８月９日アーバイン公演」。そのステレオ・サウンドボード録音です。1988年に『BORN 2B BLUE』をリリースしたスティーヴは、しばらく作品づくりから離れて長い長いライヴ活動に邁進。当店では、そのサウンドボード・アルバム『KANSAS CITY 1989（Uxbridge 1302）』も大定番に君臨しています。まずは、当時の活動概要を俯瞰し、それぞれの位置関係を確認してみましょう。

これが1988年ー1991年のスティーヴ・ミラー。アルバム発売直後にも「北米#1」を行いましたが、その後は夏になると全米ツアーを繰り返す時期でした。そんな中で本作のアーバイン公演は、アルバム発売から３年が経った「北米#5」。その17公演目にあたるコンサートでした。
そんなショウはシカゴのAOR局“WXRT”で放送された事も知られ、そのFMサウンドボードが定番の１つとなってきました。本作もその放送サウンドボードではありますが、既発のコピーなどではなく、最近になって発掘された新マスター。名門「Krw_co」が公開したもので、当時録音されたオリジナルのリール・マスターからダイレクトにデジタル化された銘品なのです。
そのサウンドは、32年の時空を飛び越えたナチュラル感が素晴らしい。まだ80年代的ムードを強く残した局ミックスは「オフィシャル級！」と呼ぶか迷うところですが、その瑞々しさは過去最高。ダビング痕がないだけでなく、無闇な音圧稼ぎもされていない。90年代のブート・バブル時代にほとんどのエアチェックが音圧稼ぎ加工されてしまいましたが、本作は放送そのまんまなのです。
そんなナチュラルFMサウンドで描かれるのは、栄光のキャリアを濃縮したショウ。放送枠の関係か『KANSAS CITY 1989』ほど長尺ではありませんが、それでも70分超えの聴き応え。伝統の公式作『LIVE!』で聴けないレパートリーもたっぷり収録されています。ここで、その内容もチェックしておきましょう。
