1968年「STEAMHAMMER」でデビューを飾り、1972年にドイツのみでリリースされた4thアルバム「Speech」を最後に活動の幕を閉じたSTEAMHAMMERのライブから、「Speech」リリース後に行われた1972年7月13日ロンドン・マーキー・クラブ公演を、オーディエンス録音でほぼ完全収録。メンバーチェンジを経てリリースされた「Speech」は、難解な楽曲を強烈な演奏で収録したプレイヤー側に向けられたアルバムで、ハード・プログレの名盤として評価されていますが、本公演は前半では「Speech」からの楽曲、後半は70年にリリースされた名盤「Mountains」からの楽曲を中心に組まれたセットリストでステージが構成されています。冒頭の27分に及ぶ「Penumbra」、そして後半の「Riding On The L&N」「Hold That Train」でライブ・バンドとしての圧巻な演奏が収録されており、特にMartin Pughの無骨なギター・サウンドは全てのブリティッシュ・ロック・ファン必聴と断言出来ます。DISC 2では1970年のドイツで行われたフェスティバルから2公演を収録。当時、本国イギリスよりドイツでの人気が先行していたという史実を物語る、熱狂的なファンに迎えられたステージが展開されています。そして最後に1972年レディング・フェスティバルから「Penumbra」を22分間収録。こちらのテイクはテープノイズが発生し音質も良くありませんが、過去に全くリリースされた事が無いSTEAMHAMMERのライブとして貴重なテイクとなります。全ての音源がオリジナル・テープより収録された唯一無二のSTEAMHAMMERのタイトルが登場です。
