そんなショウは何よりもプロショットが残された事で知られ、特に名物番組“Sight And Sound”バージョンは何度も再放送されたこともあり、数限りない既発群を生み出して来た定番中の大定番となってきました。しかし、その“Sight And Sound”は約30分枠でしたが、この映像は本来もっと長い。本作は、そんな長尺バージョンにして最高峰クオリティでもあるベスト・バージョンをDVD化したものなのです。
そのベスト・バージョンの正体は、実は日本放送。当店ではお馴染みともなっている『黄金の洋楽ライブ』放送版なのです。当店では記録マニアの方々から提供頂いた極上マスターによって数々の音楽番組をアーカイヴしておりますが、本作もそんなコレクションの１つ。特に本作の元になっている2007年放送版は、全世界のマニアも「最高クオリティ版」と大絶賛。問答無用に完全オフィシャル級であり、その放送局マスターの映像美を劣化なしでそっくりDVD化できているのです。
では、そんな最長映像ではどんな曲が楽しめるのか。上記の「欧州」レッグは公式盤『MOONFLOWER』にも残されていますので、比較しながら整理してみましょう。

【さらに盛りだくさんの番組独自コーナー】
そんな長尺セットだけでもお腹いっぱいですが、本作はそれ以上。『黄金の洋楽ライブ』ならではの美味しい“オマケ”もたっぷり楽しめるのです。”オマケ”はいくつもありますが、まずは日本語テロップ。お約束の曲間MCだけでなく、各曲の曲名やクレジット、ミニ解説まで付いている。場組担当はSANTANAのファンらしく、メドレーアレンジのポイントなどもキチンと押さえくれます。第二の“オマケ”は、この番組の特色である解説コーナー。毎回、著名人を招いてショウの背景や思い入れを語るのですが、本作の案内人は必殺の組紐屋という意外な人選。実のところ組紐屋の竜はギタリストでもあり、語る内容もおかしくはないのですが、カメラに向かって斜めのキメ・アングルを決して崩さず、妙に芝居がかった口調が楽しかったりします。
さらに、本作は本編コンサートの“その後”もフィーチュア。80年代から放送のあった2007年まで、代表曲を時系列に辿っていくのです。80年代の「I Love You Much Too Much」「Hold On」→『SUPERNATURAL』の「Smooth」→スティーヴン・タイラーが歌う「Just Feel Better」と、わずか４曲で駆け足ではあるものの、メインの「1976年」から「2007年」の30年間を繋ぐ粋な企画なのです。そしてトドメが「Black Magic Woman / Gypsy Queen」の特別映像。各時代の演奏をパッチしていく独自編集でして、栄光の歴史が１曲に濃縮されている。ここまででも番組スタッフのSANTANA愛は疑いようがありませんが、その勢いが最後の最後に大爆発しているのです。
