Early ROXY MUSIC was a crucible of talent, with Bryan Ferry and Brian Eno lined up. The shock image that you can fully enjoy the stage for about 46 minutes is decided to be permanently preserved.

This is a multi-camera professional shot when I performed at the “THE GOLDEN ROSE” festival, an international television festival sponsored by the European Broadcasting Union. Speaking of 1973, it was a turbulent year when not only the turning points “FOR YOUR PLEASURE” and “STRANDED” but also the solo works of Bryan Ferry and Eno were released. This is ROXY MUSIC in 1973. He is not busy producing masterpieces and also touring Europe in spring and autumn. Eno will withdraw in July after the “FOR YOUR PLEASURE Tour”, but this work was the third performance of “Europe # 1” three months before that. However, the taste is a little different from the so-called “concert”. As mentioned above, “Rose d’Or”, the site of this work, is a media-sponsored event. Although there are some spectators, it’s more like a studio live in the station.
Anyway, such a show has been known for professional shots for a long time, “Editions Of You” is recorded on the official DVD “THE THRILL OF IT ALL”, and “Ladytron” is rebroadcast. Only these two songs have been loved as treasures. However, recently, suddenly, a long and superb master of 6 songs (about 46 minutes) was newly discovered. The length alone is an incident, but the quality is overwhelming. It is certain that all possible deteriorations in the video and audio are not found in the dust, and are directly digitized from the Omoto Master. It seems stupid to refer to the air check of the broadcast, and it is a completely official grade quality that is not defeated by the official DVD at all.
It is a treasure just to listen to such a show on the sound board, but it is the scene projected by the multi-camera that makes it out of the question. At the bottom is not the later dandy and stylish ROXY MUSIC, but the rich, stale and chaotic gram odor. Paul Thompson, who looks like a squadron hero, and Phil Manzanera, who immerses himself in convulsions, are just the beginning, and the three people who catch their eyes are Ferry, Eno, and Andy Mackay. Andy is dressed in a shining green outfit, and his sloppy pants look like a cactus or a strange illness in the manga “Black Jack.” Eno is beyond that. The ghost-like shoulder decoration of a giant shell string has abandoned the silhouette of a human being, and is a cyborg or an angel of the universe … While screwing the controller of the synth in that figure, the psychedelic sound is undulated.
And, while following such members, the ferry that stands at the front is the one who plays the leading role. Although it seems to be more matomo than the other members in terms of black lame costumes, the face is big with sweat because it is a raw stage on the regent’s head. Then, he sings enthusiastically with an ecstatic expression on his shining face. What do you say, the world view that is drawn with the background and music is too different from the later dandyism. In terms of intensity alone, Ziggy Stardust and Peter Gabriel from the GENESIS era joined ALICE COOPER BAND in the early 70’s, and a dense world view that no one left. The cutting edge of glam rock, which was sweeping the scene at that time, spreads in front of you.
Exactly gram. It’s a cultural heritage. An amazing multi-camera pro shot that shows one side of British rock with superb quality. 【イーノ時代の長尺・超極上プロショットが新発掘】
そんな本作が撮影されたのは「1973年４月29日モントルー公演」。欧州放送連合主催の国際テレビ祭”ローズ・ドール（THE GOLDEN ROSE）”フェスティバルに出演した際のマルチカメラ・プロショットです。1973年と言えば、ターニング・ポイントの『FOR YOUR PLEASURE』『STRANDED』だけでなく、ブライアン・フェリーやイーノのソロ作もリリースされた激動の１年。細かな時期も極めて重要ですので、ここで改めて振り返っておきましょう。

これが1973年のROXY MUSIC。忙しなく名作群を制作しながら春と秋に欧州ツアーも行っている。イーノは“FOR YOUR PLEASURE Tour”を終えた７月に脱退しますが、本作はその３ヶ月前にあたる「欧州#1」３公演目でした。ただし、いわゆる「コンサート」とはちょっと趣が異なる。前述の通り、本作の現場となった”ローズ・ドール”はメディア主催のイベント。一応観客も入ってはいるものの、どちらかと言うと局内スタジオライヴ的なムードです。
ともあれ、そんなショウは古くからプロショットが知られており、公式DVD『THE THRILL OF IT ALL』に「Editions Of You」が収録され、「Ladytron」が再放送。この２曲だけが秘宝として愛されてきました。しかし、最近になって突如、６曲（約46分）に及ぶ長尺＆超極上マスターが新発掘されたのです。その長さだけでも事件なわけですが、クオリティが輪をかけて圧倒的。映像にも音声にも考え得るあらゆる劣化が微塵も見当たらず、大元マスターからダイレクトにデジタル化されているのは確実。放送のエアチェックなどを引き合いに出すのもバカらしく、公式DVDにもまったく負けていない完全オフィシャル級クオリティなのです。

そして、真の衝撃はそのクオリティで描かれる初期ROXY MUSICの本生100％パフォーマンス。TOTPやOGWTなど、当時の細切れ映像も現存するのであの世界観をご存知の方もいらっしゃるでしょうが、それが６曲に及ぶ生演奏で繰り広げられる様は強烈無比です。セット的にはイーノ時代の２枚『ROXY MUSIC』『FOR YOUR PLEASURE』から３曲ずつがセレクトされ、ちょうどLP１枚分の持ち時間（約46分）に濃縮還元。まさに「生演奏の初期ベスト」の様相です。
そんなショウをサウンドボードで聴けるだけでもお宝ですが、それを問題外にするのがマルチカメラで映し出される光景。底にいるのは、後のダンディでスタイリッシュなROXY MUSICではなく、コテコテで混沌としたグラム臭が濃厚なのです。戦隊ヒーローみたいなポール・トンプソンや痙攣するように没入するフィル・マンザネラなど序の口で、目を釘付けにするのはフェリー、イーノ、アンディ・マッケイの３人。アンディは全身光るグリーンの衣装に身を包み、イボイボなパンツはサボテンというか漫画『ブラック・ジャック』に出てくる奇病のよう。それを越えているのがイーノ。巨大な貝ひものお化けみたいな肩飾りはもはや人間のシルエットを捨てており、サイボーグというか宇宙の天使というか……。その姿でシンセのコントローラーをネジネジしつつ、サイケ・サウンドをうねらせていくのです。
そして、そんなメンバーを従えつつ、あくまでも主役を張るのがフロントに立つフェリー。黒ラメな衣装的には他のメンバーよりはマトモな気がするものの、リーゼント頭に生ステージだからこその大汗で顔面はビッカビカ。そして、その光る顔面に浮かぶ恍惚の表情で熱唱する。何と言いますか、バックも音楽も相まって描かれる世界観は後のダンディズムとはあまりにも違う。濃さだけで言うなら、70年代初期のALICE COOPER BANDにジギースターダストとGENESIS時代のピーター・ガブリエルが加入して、誰も脱退しなかったような濃密な世界観。当時シーンを席巻していたグラム・ロックの最先端が目の前に広がるのです。
まさにグラム。まさに文化遺産。英国ロックの一面を超極上クオリティで見せつける驚異のマルチカメラ・プロショットです。もはやROXY MUSICの傑作ではなく、大衆音楽史の秘宝として語られるべき大傑作です。その輝きを永久に残すプレスDVD。どうぞ、この衝撃を刮目してご体験ください！

The main press DVD is a video masterpiece where you can enjoy the live performance of early ROXY MUSIC with Brian Eno for about 46 minutes. However, they went beyond the glam rock category and swept the era as New Wave jockeys. Therefore, a collection of professional shots that spells out the “subsequent evolution” of such a main press DVD will be included as a special bonus.
This work contains 6 types, 16 songs, and about 70 minutes of superb video. All of them are multi-camera pro shots when they appeared on West Germany’s famous TV program “MUSIKLADEN”. Its appearance history is wide, from 1972 to 1980, but it can be roughly divided into three sections. Let’s introduce each one individually.
It is a completely official-grade visual beauty that plays and flows out. Its quality is close to that of the main press DVD, but it is amazing because the impact of the contents is not defeated. The two outfits are different, both of which are full of grams, and Andy Mackay, who is still unified in green, Eno in crow costume, and Bryan Ferry who sings enthusiastically in Regent have a great impact. They also showed off “Do The Strand” and “Re-Make / Re-Model” that were not played on the main press DVD, and it is exactly 5 songs that should be called “sequel”, about 25 minutes. [1974: Eddie Jobson era (2 types, 8 songs)] Next up is the Eddie Jobson era when Eno left. About 3 months after the release of “STRANDED”, “January 24, 1974” (5 songs) and 2 days before the release of “COUNTRY LIFE”, “November 13, 1974” (3 songs). ..
In the “STRANDED” era, the ferry and McKay were refined while still retaining the gram feeling. The ferry has its hair down and screams with a butterfly tie and white tuxedo and a dandy outfit, and McKay is also dressed in a suit and is different from a green monster. And the biggest highlight of this work is the three songs from the “COUNTRY LIFE” era. John Wetton is playing the bass here! The sight of sharing the stage with his ally Jobson, who will form U.K., is spectacular, and after all, Buri Buri and the vulgarly powerful bass sound are nothing but Wetton. “All I Want Is You” and “If It Takes All Night”, which cannot be heard on the official live album “VIVA!”, Are also treasure images that can be enjoyed on Wetton’s base. [1980: “FLESH AND BLOOD” era (2 types, 2 songs)] The last section is the “FLESH AND BLOOD” era, where time has advanced. There are a total of two songs, “Over You” and “Oh Yeah”, from the appearances of “June 19, 1980” and “October 9, 1980”.
At this point, the gram color was completely gone, and it was completely new wave mode. You can listen to the refreshing and stylish synth pop. Another point is that neither of these two songs can be seen in the official video “THE HIGH ROAD”. Toku, “Over You” is an extremely rare song that has been played only as many times as possible.

本編プレスDVDは、ブライアン・イーノもいる初期ROXY MUSICのライヴを約46分に渡って楽しめる映像傑作です。しかし、彼らはいつまでもグラムロックの範疇には留まらず、ニューウェーヴの騎手として時代を席巻していきました。そこで、そんな本編プレスDVDの「その後の進化」を綴っていくプロショット集が特別ボーナス付属決定です。
そんな本作に収められているのは、６種・16曲・約70分に及ぶ極上映像。そのすべてが西ドイツの名物TV番組“MUSIKLADEN”に出演した際のマルチカメラ・プロショットです。その出演歴は1972年から1980年と幅広いのですが、ざっくり３つのセクションに大別できます。早速、それぞれ個別にご紹介していきましょう。
【1972-1973年：ブライアン・イーノ時代（２種・５曲）】
まず冒頭を飾るのは、本編プレスDVDと同じくイーノ時代の２種。デビュー直後の「1972年（日付不明）」出演回からの「Virginia Plain」と、本編プレスDVDの１ヶ月前となる「1973年５月30日」出演回の４曲です。
再生して流れ出るのは完全オフィシャル級の映像美。そのクオリティも本編プレスDVDに迫りますが、中身の衝撃度も負けていないから凄い。２回で衣装が違うもの、どちらもグラム度満点で、相変わらずグリーンで統一しているアンディ・マッケイ、カラス衣装のイーノ、リーゼントで熱唱するブライアン・フェリーが凄いインパクト。本編プレスDVDでは演奏していなかった「Do The Strand」「Re-Make/Re-Model」も披露してくれ、まさに「続編」と呼ぶべき５曲・約25分です。
【1974年：エディ・ジョブソン時代（２種・８曲）】
続いて登場するのは、イーノが去ったエディ・ジョブソン時代。『STRANDED』リリースの約３ヶ月後となる「1974年１月24日」出演回（５曲）と、『COUNTRY LIFE』発売の２日前「1974年11月13日」出演回（３曲）です。
『STRANDED』時代はまだまだグラム感覚を残しつつ、フェリー＆マッケイがグッと洗練。フェリーは髪を下ろして蝶タイ＆白タキシードとダンディな出で立ちと鳴り、マッケイもスーツ姿で緑の怪人とは様変わりしています。そして、本作最大の見どころでもあるのが『COUNTRY LIFE』時代の３曲。ここでベースを弾いているのはジョン・ウェットン！ U.K.を結成する事になる盟友ジョブソンとステージを分け合う光景も壮観ですし、何と言ってもブリブリと下品なまでにド迫力なベース・サウンドがウェットン以外の何者でもない。公式ライヴアルバム『VIVA!』では聴けない「All I Want Is You」「If It Takes All Night」もウェットンのベースで楽しめるお宝映像です。
【1980年：『FLESH AND BLOOD』時代（２種・２曲）】
最後のセクションはグッと時間の進んだ『FLESH AND BLOOD』時代。「1980年６月19日」と「1980年10月９日」の出演回から「Over You」「Oh Yeah」の合計２曲です。
ここまで来るとグラム色は抜けきり、もう完全にニューウェーヴ・モード。爽やかスタイリッシュに煌びやかなシンセ・ポップを聴かせてくれます。また、この２曲はどちらも公式映像『THE HIGH ROAD』では観られないというのもポイント。徳に「Over You」は指折り数えるほどしか演奏していない激レア曲です。
以上、６種・約70分に及ぶ完全オフィシャル級プロショット集。全16曲には曲ダブりも一切なく、ROXY MUSICの歩みを百の言葉を越える雄弁さで語ってくれる映像作です。約46分という本編プレスDVDの食い足りなさを補ってくれるだけでは済まない大傑作。どうぞ、合わせて存分にお楽しみください。
