“December 13, 1977 Inglewood performance” is included in this work. It is the best audience recording recorded in “THE FORUM” which is the garden of Millard’s specialty. The rod at that time turned solo and became a hit after the hit. He had climbed to the position of a superstar who was neither pushed nor pushed. This work is a live album that conveys such a brilliant moment with on-site sound. First, let’s look back on the schedule at that time and confirm the position of the show.

This is Rod Stewart in 1977. At first glance, it looks like they are touring all year round, but the so-called “FOOT LOOSE & FANCY FREE TOUR” is only for North American tours after October. The Inglewood performance of this work was the last concert among them. As a matter of fact, there are some vague points in the records at that time, and it is not clear whether the “THE FORUM” performance will be for two consecutive days or three consecutive days depending on the materials. Therefore, I will avoid affirmation, but it is probably the 22nd performance of “North America # 2”.
This work was recorded at such a show, but there is no need to worry about the quality because it has the same “1977” and “THE FORUM” as the legendary “LISTEN TO THIS EDDIE”. It’s no wonder it’s the best … No, it’s not enough. The seat, which was the only unstable element of Millard who devised the winning equipment and method, is as expected. The sound of a wheelchair in the sweet spot is unwavering, and it has a feeling of closeness that does not seem to be an audience, beauty that is more than a sound board, and a feeling of on-site experience that is real but integrated with the performance. ..
A rod in full bloom drawn with a perfect sound …… It is natural that it was made into a permanent storage press CD, but this time it was introduced from the Uxbridge label. The biggest factor is … incomplete recording. The show also started recording from “Maggie May”, which was approaching the middle stage, and only about 55 minutes of the latter half was recorded. The cause of this is unknown. Jim R’s memoirs, which he went to the show with Millard at that time, weren’t late, so maybe he couldn’t record because of on-site security, or (no way) he just made a mistake … Millard and Jim also watched the concert on “December 14th” the next day, but there was no recording there. From that, it is possible that there was something wrong with the equipment.
Anyway, the recorded 55 minutes is a blissful time. If you organize the songs that are spelled there …

… And it looks like this. The content is regrettable. Too regrettable. A rod that roars a majestic singing voice in the middle of a great success, and a spectacle of a large chorus that satisfies “THE FORUM”. You can experience the wonderful space with the superb sound that is thin even in “LISTEN TO THIS EDDIE”. There is no such thing as bad.
It is a hidden treasure of about 55 minutes left because there was a mirrored that was a series of super masterpieces shining in the history of recording and a rod full of brilliance. Although it is a short recording that is rare for a legendary master, the sound itself is richer than ever. Such a “regrettable!” Live album. Please enjoy it as if you were chewing.

毎週のように発掘が続いている歴史的名手マイク・ミラードのオリジナル・マスター。その最新弾となるロッド・スチュワート篇が登場です。
そんな本作に収められているのは「1977年12月13日イングルウッド公演」。ミラードお得意の庭となる“THE FORUM”で記録された極上オーディエンス録音です。当時のロッドはソロに転向してヒットに次ぐヒット。押しも押されもせぬスーパースターの地位に登り詰めていました。本作は、そんな輝きの刹那を現場サウンドで伝えるライヴアルバム。まずは、当時のスケジュールを振り返り、ショウのポジションを確かめておきましょう。

これが1977年のロッド・スチュワート。一見、年間を通してツアーしているようにも見えますが、いわゆる“FOOT LOOSE & FANCY FREE TOUR”は10月以降の北米ツアーのみ。本作のイングルウッド公演は、その中でも終盤にあたるコンサートでした。実のところ、当時の記録にはあやふや点があり、“THE FORUM”公演も資料によって２日連続か３日連続かはっきりしない。そのため断言は避けますが、恐らくは「北米#2」の22公演目だと思われます。
そんなショウで記録された本作ですが、あの伝説名高い『LISTEN TO THIS EDDIE』と同じ“1977年”と“THE FORUM”が揃っていることからもクオリティ面では心配なし。もはや極上で当たり前……いえ、それどころでは済まない。必勝の機材と手法を編み出していたミラード唯一の不安定要素だった座席も思惑通り。スウィート・スポットに車椅子で陣取ったサウンドは揺るぎなく、オーディエンスとは思えない密着感とサウンドボード以上の美しさ、それにリアルでありながら演奏と一体化した現場の体験感のすべてが揃っているのです。
パーフェクトなサウンドで描かれる全盛のロッド……本当なら永久保存プレスCD化されて当然なところですが、今回はUxbridgeレーベルからのご紹介となりました。その最大の要因は……不完全収録。ショウも中盤に差し掛かった「Maggie May」から録音がスタートし、後半部の約55分しか録音されなかったのです。こうなってしまった原因は不明。当時ミラードと共にショウに足を運んだジムＲの回顧録には遅れた旨はないので、現場セキュリティの関係で録音できなかったのか、（まさか）単に操作を誤ったのか……。ミラードとジムは翌“12月14日”のコンサートも観覧するも、そちらの録音は一切なし。そのことからすると、もしかしたら機材に何かしらの問題が起きていたのかも知れません。
ともあれ、記録された約55分は至福の時。そこで綴られる曲を整理しますと……

……と、このようになっています。その内容は、惜しい。あまりにも惜しい。大成功真っ直中の威風堂々とした歌声を轟かせるロッドと、“THE FORUM”を満たす大合唱のスペクタクル。その素晴らしい空間を、かの『LISTEN TO THIS EDDIE』にも肉薄する超極上のサウンドで体験できる。これが悪かろうハズがありません。
録音史に輝く超名作を連発していたミラードと、全盛の輝きに充ち満ちたロッドが居合わせたからこそ残された約55分の秘宝です。伝説名手には珍しい短時間録音でありながら、サウンド自体はいつにも増してリッチ。そんな「惜しい！」ライヴアルバム。どうぞ、噛みしめるようにご堪能ください。
