JOURNEY started his US tour a little earlier than the release of his new album “FREEDOM” for the first time in 11 years. The latest live album, which will be the breaking news report, will be released at the same time!
This work is the first of these two titles. It is a super-excellent audience recording of “February 28, 2022 Boston performance”. JOURNEY resumed activities with the single “The Way We Used To Be” last year, but a member change broke out as soon as possible. Randy Jackson / Narada Michael Walden has left. This is the 2021/2022 JOURNEY. It was silent in 2020 due to the new Corona Pandemic, but the tour started with the release of the single. However, by that time, the Randy / Narada pair had already left and replaced Marco / Dean. However, the lineup is also tentative, and Marco will leave in 2022 when the year changes. Formerly DORO / HARDLINE, I changed to Todd Jensen, who is also known for his activities with Paul Rodgers and Alice Cooper. Currently, a full-scale US tour “North America # 3” is being carried out with that lineup. The Boston performance of this work was the fifth concert in the early stages.
This work recorded at such a show is a dynamic and superb audience. Recording is also attracting attention only for the tour after a long time, but this work is already whispered as “Isn’t it the No. 1 tour !?” Anyway, the core is very thick and powerful, yet the spectacle of the hall sound is also excellent. If you pay attention only to the core, it will approach you with a sound board-like close contact without making you feel the distance. However, the sound of the hall rising from the core like an aura is extremely relaxed, and it is a feeling of exhilaration as if the playing sound goes on forever. Of course, if such a sound hides or makes the details muddy, there is no source or child, but there is no worry about this work. The sound itself is thick, but it is strangely transparent and does not block the rushing force of the core. The rugged bass is plump, and the outline of each note is clear.
It was a great recording that made me wonder, “Is the audience in 2022 so great?”, But there is also a reason for that. In fact, it is a recording of a modern master and a master of rumors. The master is Mr. “Farve 4”. As some of you may have heard of the name, the person who is announcing the finest products of the latest show one after another. At our shop, masterpieces of various bands such as “MANSFIELD 2021 (Uxbridge 1506)” by Hall & Oates, “BOSTON 2019 (Uxbridge 1173)” by FLEETWOOD MAC, and “BOSTON 2018 1ST NIGHT (Uxbridge 872)” by THE EAGLES are very popular. I have received. This work is the JOURNEY edition of such a master collection.
Moreover, this work brushes up the original sound. It is the highest peak board refined by meticulous mastering. The point is mid-high range. The original sound of the net had a texture that included a slight jerky distortion, but in this work, the discomfort is alleviated in terms of band analysis. 本作は、そんな２タイトルの第一弾。「2022年２月28日ボストン公演」の超極上オーディエンス録音です。昨年シングル『The Way We Used To Be』と共に活動を再開したJOURNEYですが、その後に早くもメンバー・チェンジが勃発。ランディ・ジャクソン／ナラダ・マイケル・ウォルデンが脱退してしまいました。まずは、スケジュールで近況を整理しつつ、ショウのポジションを確かめてみましょう。

これが2021年／2022年のJOURNEY。新型コロナ・パンデミックもあって2020年は沈黙していましたが、シングル発売を機にツアーも開始。しかし、その際にはすでにランディ／ナラダ組は離脱しており、マルコ／ディーンに代わっていました。しかし、そのラインナップも仮でして、年の改まった2022年にはマルコも離脱。元DORO/HARDLINEでポール・ロジャースやアリス・クーパーとの活動でも知られるトッド・ジェンセンにチェンジしました。現在は、そのラインナップで本格的な全米ツアー「北米#3」を実行中。本作のボストン公演は、その序盤５公演目にあたるコンサートでした。
そんなショウで記録された本作は、ダイナミックな極上オーディエンス。久々のツアーだけに録音にも注目が集まっているわけですが、本作は早くも「ツアーNo.1ではないか!?」と囁かれている業物なのです。とにかく芯が極太で力強く、それでいてホール鳴りのスペクタクルも絶品。芯にだけ注目するとサウンドボード的な密着感で距離を感じさせずにグイグイと迫ってくる。ところが、その芯からオーラのように立ち上るホール鳴りが極めて伸びやかで、演奏音がどこまでも突き進んでいくような天翔る高揚感なのです。もちろん、そんな鳴りがディテールを隠したり濁らせたら元も子もありませんが、本作にその心配はなし。鳴り自体は厚みもあるのですが、それが妙に透き通っており、芯の突進力を遮らない。ゴリゴリとしたベースもふくよかでありつつ、１音１音の輪郭もクッキリとしています。
「2022年のオーディエンスはここまで凄いのか」とタメ息が漏れる名録音なのですが、それには理由もある。実は、現代の名匠と噂の達人録音なのです。その達人とは「Farve4」氏。名前を聞いたことのある方もいらっしゃると思いますが、最新ショウの極上品を次々と発表している人物。当店でもホール＆オーツの『MANSFIELD 2021（Uxbridge 1506）』やFLEETWOOD MACの『BOSTON 2019（Uxbridge 1173）』、THE EAGLESの『BOSTON 2018 1ST NIGHT（Uxbridge 872）』と、さまざまなバンドの名作が大好評を賜っている。本作はそんな達人コレクションのJOURNEY編なのです。
