What a good sound … We have delivered James Taylor’s finest live sound source, but this time it is also amazing quality. Recorded live at the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison from the 1976 tour, which was carried out with the masterpiece “IN THE POCKET” that ended the 70’s glorious Warner era.
This is a really great quality audience recording, with some parts of the sound rubbing that seems to be tape degradation (eg at the beginning of “Carolina In My Mind”) and occasional mic noise (eg). “How Sweet It Is”) is a problem, but isn’t it appropriate to release it on a press CD? Sound quality that seems to be.
After all, the sound image is very close, and not only Taylor’s singing voice but also the excellent backing of the tour band centered on the members of the ally The Section are recorded with a vivid balance, and you can enjoy it from beginners to enthusiasts while recording the audience. Great quality.

Speaking of the “IN THE POCKET” tour in 1976, the radio broadcast of the Syria Mosque two weeks later has become a staple, and now even the gray zone CD has been released. However, the sound source was only less than 40 minutes long enough to fit on one LP for broadcasting, and it was too unsatisfactory to experience the actual stage.
The Red Rocks this time will solve the dissatisfaction of such enthusiasts at once. Finally, it became the appearance of a sound source that reveals the whole picture of the stage.
In addition, David Lindley, who participated in the album and also had a strong presence on the radio sound source, not only added flowers with a fiddle from the opening, but also played a banjo in “Carolina In My Mind”. In addition, David Sanborn of saxophone, who emerged as a studio musician at the time and participated in the previous work “GORILLA”, is also featured on the front.
The release of this sound source would delight enthusiasts all over the world, especially because they and the members of The Section were on a tour accompanied by a dream team that formed a tag team.

And because it was the 70’s Warner period at the height of popularity, the excitement of the venue was tremendous. After all, it conveys the feeling of being active, showing a great reaction to the songs recorded in “IN THE POCKET” that has just been released.
On the other hand, even the live performances of artists like Taylor are closed to the insensitivity of the audience who ring the firecrackers, but it is his face to keep singing lightly. Also, unlike the early stage of Warner, the stage performance with a crisp sound by the backing band with gorgeous members is also wonderful.

何たる音の良さ…これまでもジェイムス・テイラーの極上ライブ音源をお届けしてまいりましたが、今回がまた凄いクオリティ。70年代栄光のワーナー時代を締めくくった名盤「IN THE POCKET」を引っ提げて行われた1976年ツアーからモリソンにあるレッドロックス・アンフィシアターでのライブを収録。
これが実に素晴らしいクオリティのオーディエンス録音でして、いくつかの個所にテープ劣化と思われる音の擦れがみられる（例えば「Carolina In My Mind」の冒頭など）のと、たまにマイクのノイズが入る（例えば「How Sweet It Is」）点が玉に瑕ですが、それでもなプレスCDでのリリースが相応しいのでは？と思えるほどの音質。
何しろ音像が非常に近く、テイラーの歌声はもちろん、盟友ザ・セクションのメンバーを中心としたツアーバンドの卓越したバッキングも生々しいほどのバランスにて収録しており、オーディエンス録音ながら初心者からマニアまで楽しめる素晴らしいクオリティ。

76年の「IN THE POCKET」ツアーと言えば二週間後のシリア・モスクのラジオ放送が定番となっており、今やグレーゾーンCDまでリリースされている。ところが同音源は放送用LP一枚に収まる40分足らずという長さでしかなく、実際のステージを体感にはあまりにも物足りなかった。
そんなマニアの不満を一気に解消してくれるのが今回のレッドロックス。ようやくステージの全貌を明らかにしてくれる音源の登場と相成りました。
またアルバムに参加し、なおかつラジオ音源でも存在感を発揮していたデヴィッド・リンドレーはオープニングからしてフィドルで花を添えるに留まらず、「Carolina In My Mind」ではバンジョーを弾くといった活躍ぶり。さらにスタジオ・ミュージシャンとして当時頭角を現し、前作「GORILLA」にも参加していたサックスのデヴィッド・サンボーンも前面に渡ってフィーチャーされている。
彼らとザ・セクションのメンバーがタッグを組んだドリームチームを従えて敢行されたツアーだけに、なおさら今回の音源のリリースは世界中のマニアを歓喜させることかと。

そして人気絶頂の70年代ワーナー期ということもあり、会場の盛り上がりも凄まじい。何と言ってもリリースされて間もない「IN THE POCKET」収録曲に対して大きな反応をみせている現役感まで伝えてくれる。
一方テイラーのようなアーティストのライブですら爆竹を鳴らしてしまう観客の無神経さには閉口してしまいますが、それも軽く受け流して歌い続けるところが彼の面目躍如。それにワーナー初期のステージと違い豪華メンバーを従えたバックバンドによるメリハリに富んだサウンドのステージ映えも素晴らしい。
1970年のステージとしては信じられないほどの高音質オーディエンスだった「PORT CHESTER 1970」、まさかのマイク・ミラード録音による「BEVERLY HILLS 1981: MIKE MILLARD FIRST GENERATION TAPES」という二つの時代の極上音源の間を見事に埋めてくれる、UXBRDGEレーベルによるジェイムス・テイラー第三のハイクオリティ・オーディエンス・アルバムが登場します！
