In recent years, “Mike Millard Tape” has been digitized from the master direct or low generation tape. This tape was recorded by Mike Millard, a taper familiar to fans due to the outstanding technology of audience recording. The same label has released several sound sources based on this newly digitized Mike Millard tape, but if you look closely, you can see “Brushed Mike Millard Tape” and “Legendary Mike Millard.” Did you notice that there are two types of tapes? Not all Mike Millard tapes have perfect sound quality, and some of them have a lot of room for improvement, and the “Brushed” series has been significantly improved. Originally, it is almost perfect and there is not much room for sound quality improvement, and the “Legendary” series is the one that keeps the minimum of light editing such as between songs.

This time, Jackson Browne is introduced from the “Legendary” series. Recorded the first day of the Cristic Benefit Concert in 1990. The concert also features Bruce Springsteen and Bonnie Raitt, and most of Bruce Springsteen’s sets have been officially released. However, this brown set has not been released and is a long-awaited sound source for fans. Moreover, Bonnie Raitt will appear as a guest in the two songs. You can listen to the wonderful slide guitar that is synonymous with her. The band feeling is a little weak, and the content is more like a singer-songwriter, but the ability as a singer / songwriter is a wonderful content that was unfortunately demonstrated.

近年マスター直、或いはロウ・ジェネレーションのテープからのデジタル化が進んでいる“マイク・ミラード・テープ”。オーディエンス録音の卓越した技術でファンにはお馴染みのテーパー、マイク・ミラード氏により録音されたテープです。同レーベルからもこの新デジタル化のマイク・ミラード・テープをマスターにした音源が複数リリースされておりますが、よく見ると“ブラッシュド・マイク・ミラード・テープ”と“レジェンダリー・マイク・ミラード・テープ”の二種類があることにお気付きでしょうか。マイク・ミラード・テープも全てが完璧な音質なわけではなく、中にはかなり手を加えて改良の余地があるものもあり、大幅に手を加えて改良されたものが“ブラッシュド”シリーズ。元々完璧に近く音質改良の余地があまり無く、曲間等の軽い編集など最低限にとどめてあるものが“レジェンダリー”シリーズとなります。

今回は“レジェンダリー”シリーズよりジャクソン・ブラウンの登場です。1990年に行われたクリスティック・ベネフィット・コンサートの初日を収録。このコンサートはブルース・スプリングスティーンやボニー・レイットらも出演しており、ブルース・スプリングスティーンのセットのほとんどはオフィシャルでリリースされています。しかしこのブラウンのセットはリリースされておらずファン待望の音源です。しかも2曲ではボニー・レイットがゲスト出演。彼女の代名詞でもある素晴らしいスライド・ギターを聴くことができます。バンド感はやや弱く、どちらかというと弾き語りに近い内容ですが、シンガー・ソングライターとしての力量は遺憾なく発揮された素晴らしい内容です。
