Jackson Browne, who finished his performance in Japan after the corona wreck with a storm of rave reviews, but as he himself touched on every night’s stage, in front of the sad fact that David Lindley is absent, once again his presence. I was reminded of greatness.
While the afterglow of such a performance in Japan has not cooled down, we will release a very rare stage record by him and Jackson with the highest quality audience recording.
In the latter half of the 1990s, Jackson always accompanied the band and performed energetic activities, such as performing large-scale world tours when releasing the album “LOOKING EAST” and the first best album “THE NEXT VOICE YOU HEAR”. Very strong impression.
However, in the spring of 1997, between these releases, Lindley and I went on a tour around Europe for the first time in a long time for about a month.
For the above reasons, Jackson’s acoustic and simple tour of the 90’s was a rare existence by itself (although there were many Jackson’s solo event appearances), but I added a ring to it with Lindley. It was only at this time that the stage of two people alone was treated as a semi-legendary tour by maniacs.
In addition, due to the short schedule of one month, the items of this tour have never been released. When it comes to sound sources other than those circulated among traders, I think that the VHS of the audience shot that captured the performance in Italy in April was rather popular.
That’s why the release of the performance in Malmö, Sweden on March 26th will make maniacs all over the world go crazy.
What makes me happy is that the quality of the audience recording is really wonderful. The sound image is really close even though there are only two people and the number of acoustic sounds is small. Besides, the sound quality itself is very clear, and it seems that even a press board will be cool enough.
While the excitement between songs is just like a European concert, the presence of listening carefully during the performance also plays a role in making it easier to hear.
And now that Lindley is dead, I can not help but be surprised that an acoustic tour of only two people was realized in 1997. In fact, the repertoire and arrangement of the performance seems to be a reproduction of the live activities that the two performed until the mid-70s.
After all, the medley of “Come Ye Fair And Tender Ladies / Take It Easy”, and the ending finished with the ultimate “Cocaine”, it seems to be reminiscent of the live performance at the main point in 1975.
On the other hand, Jackson set up Lindley, who had gained enough fame as a solo artist, and included four of his own songs. In particular, the songs recorded in the album “Bakemono” have been reborn into wonderfully simple arrangements from lively arrangements, and this is also a performance that can not be heard without tears now.
And Jackson’s joyful singing, backed by his ever-changing slide guitar, in a much more laid-back atmosphere than the band’s tour at the time. At that time, he was doing a very energetic tour, but it was at that time that he realized an acoustic show with Lindley as if he had returned to his original intention.

コロナ禍以降における来日公演を激賞の嵐と共に終えたジャクソン・ブラウンですが、本人も毎晩のステージで触れていたように、やはりデヴィッド・リンドレーの不在という寂しい事実を前に、改めて彼の存在の偉大さを思い知らされました。
そんな来日公演の余韻も冷めやらぬ中で彼とジャクソンによる非常にレアなステージの記録を極上クオリティのオーディエンス録音にてリリースいたします。
1990年代後半のジャクソンはアルバム『LOOKING EAST』リリース時と初のベストアルバム『THE NEXT VOICE YOU HEAR』リリース時にそれぞれ大規模なワールド・ツアーを行うなど、常にバンドを従えて精力的な活動を行った印象が非常に強い。
ところがそうしたリリースの合間である1997年の春、本当に久しぶりにリンドレーと二人だけでヨーロッパを回るツアーを一か月ほど行っていたのです。
先の理由から90年代のジャクソンのアコースティックでシンプルな構成のツアーというのはそれだけで希少（ジャクソン単独のイベント出演は数多くありましたが）な存在だったのですが、そこに輪をかけてリンドレーと二人きりのステージというのはこの時だけであり、マニアには半ば伝説的なツアーとして扱われていました。
おまけに一か月という短いスケジュールが災いし、このツアーのアイテムというのは今まで一切リリースされたことがありません。トレーダー間に出回る音源以外となると、むしろ4月のイタリア公演を捉えたオーディエンスショットのVHSの方が親しまれていたのではないでしょうか。
それだけに今回の3月26日のスウェーデンはマルメでの公演のリリースというのは世界中のマニアが狂喜されることかと。
何が嬉しいって、そのオーディエンス録音のクオリティが実に素晴らしい。二人だけでしかもアコースティックという音数の少なさながらも音像は実に近い。それに音質そのものも非常にクリアーで、プレス盤でも余裕でイケてしまいそうなほど。
いかにもヨーロッパのコンサートらしく曲間の盛り上がりは熱狂的でありながら、演奏中はじっくり聞き入るという臨場感も聞きやすさに一役買ってくれている。
そしてリンドレー亡き今だからこそ、1997年になって二人だけのアコースティックなツアーが実現していたことに驚きを禁じえません。実際レパートリーや演奏のアレンジは70年代半ばまで二人で行っていたライブ活動の再現かと思えるほど。
何と言っても「Come Ye Fair And Tender Ladies / Take It Easy」のメドレー、さらに極めつけの「Cocaine」で締めくくられたエンディングなど、それこそ1975年のメイン・ポイントでのライブを彷彿させるかのよう。
一方でジャクソンはソロ・アーティストとしても十分に名声を獲得していたリンドレーを立てて彼の持ち歌が四曲も盛り込まれている。特にアルバム『化けもの』収録曲はにぎやかなアレンジが見事にシンプルなアレンジへと生まれ変わっており、これも今となっては涙なしに聞かれない演奏でしょう。
そして彼の変幻自在なスライド・ギターをバックに、当時のバンドツアーよりもはるかにくつろいだ雰囲気で歌うジャクソンの楽しそうなこと。当時の彼は非常に精力的なツアー活動を行っていたのですが、そんな時期だからこそ初心に返るかの如く実現したリンドレーとのアコースティック・ショー。
正にマニアが待ち望んだ伝説のツアーが初アイテム・リリースに相応しい極上オーディエンスにて登場。この二人だからこそ繰り広げられた最高のアコースティック・ショーを心ゆくまでお楽しみください。
