In recent years, “Mike Millard Tape” has been digitized from the master direct or low generation tape. This tape was recorded by Mike Millard, a taper familiar to fans due to the outstanding technology of audience recording. The same label has released several sound sources based on this newly digitized Mike Millard tape, but if you look closely, you can see “Brushed Mike Millard Tape” and “Legendary Mike Millard.” Did you notice that there are two types of tapes? Not all Mike Millard tapes have perfect sound quality, and some of them have a lot of room for improvement, and the “Brushed” series has been significantly improved. Originally, it is almost perfect and there is not much room for sound quality improvement, and the “Legendary” series is the one that keeps the minimum of light editing such as between songs.
This time, Fleetwood Mac is introduced from the “Brushed” series. This is a tour of “Tax” that was held from 1979 to 1980 when I visited Japan. The blues period of Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer is over, the merger of Buckingham Knicks, and the climax after steering to the pop line with the two signboards of Christian McBee and Stevie Nicks. The blockbuster albums “Fleetwood Mac”, “Rumor” and “Fang”, all of which are wonderful contents. Of course, the edited live album of this period was also released officially, but the real thrill of listening through one performance is unique to collector’s items. The songs that were compactly popped together in each studio album and the band part in the live are greatly featured, and Lindsey Buckingham’s guitar is also a lot to show off. A gorgeous horn section also participates in “TUSK”. The reason why it became the “brushed” series this time is that the hiss noise was originally quite strong and it was just “brushed”.
近年マスター直、或いはロウ・ジェネレーションのテープからのデジタル化が進んでいる“マイク・ミラード・テープ”。オーディエンス録音の卓越した技術でファンにはお馴染みのテーパー、マイク・ミラード氏により録音されたテープです。同レーベルからもこの新デジタル化のマイク・ミラード・テープをマスターにした音源が複数リリースされておりますが、よく見ると“ブラッシュド・マイク・ミラード・テープ”と“レジェンダリー・マイク・ミラード・テープ”の二種類があることにお気付きでしょうか。マイク・ミラード・テープも全てが完璧な音質なわけではなく、中にはかなり手を加えて改良の余地があるものもあり、大幅に手を加えて改良されたものが“ブラッシュド”シリーズ。元々完璧に近く音質改良の余地があまり無く、曲間等の軽い編集など最低限にとどめてあるものが“レジェンダリー”シリーズとなります。
今回は“ブラッシュド”シリーズからフリートウッド・マック登場です。来日もあった1979年から80年へかけて行われた『タクス』のツアーです。ピーター・グリーン、ジェレミー・スペンサーのブルース期は終わり、バッキンガム・ニックスを吸収合併、クリスチャン・マクビー、スティーヴィー・ニックスの二枚看板でポップ路線に舵取りしてからの絶頂期。大ヒット・アルバム『ファンタスティック・マック』『噂』『牙』、これらを一堂に味わえる素晴らしい内容。もちろんこの時期の編集ライヴ・アルバムがオフィシャルでもリリースされていますが、やはり一つの公演を通して聴ける醍醐味はコレクターズ・アイテムならでは。各スタジオ・アルバムではコンパクトにポップにまとまっていた楽曲もライヴではバンド・パートも大きくフィーチャーされリンジー・バッキンガムのギターも見せ場たくさん。『TUSK』ではゴージャスなホーン・セクションも参加しています。今回“ブラッシュド”シリーズとなったのは元々ヒス・ノイズがかなり強く、それをまさに“ブラッシュ”したからです。
