This is the whole view of “THE LAMB LIES DOWN ON BROADWAY TOUR”. The flow is roughly from North America to Europe, and the European edition is subdivided into continent → UK → continent. The Southampton performance of this work was the third concert in his native England.
What is special about this work that recorded such a show? It’s quality without rectification. In fact, this recording is regarded as “Broadway’s best audience” by GENESIS completers around the world. Moreover, the previously cut “Anyway” has also been recorded, and it is the latest master that has updated the longest and highest peak quality. In fact, its quality is miraculous. Above all, the core that is on, the detailed details, and the illusion that cannot be said are invaluable. First of all, the core, but this is already amazing. There is a nuance of spatial recording in terms of timbre, but it does not give a sense of distance, and it approaches the sight in front of me. And the details that accompany it are also super clear. Anyway, the outline of each note of every instrument is so clear that it doesn’t mix even if it overlaps. Especially surprising is the base. The attack sound is rugged and violent, and the vibe is so detailed that you can feel the vibration of the floor shaking. What’s more, it doesn’t vibrate even at peak, and even in the part that plays a deep bass to the synth to assist such a bass, the sound does not become cloudy or muddy. It’s beyond the common sense of audience recording in the 70’s… It’s the vividness that makes me wonder if a 70’s microphone can pick up this kind of sound.
And the illusion. This is really really great. Even though the quality is fiercely high, the feel is not a direct connection of the mixing house, but a faint sense of space. The mood created by this creates a dim scene. That’s right, for example, the image of walking through the passage drawn on the jacket work (right side) of “Dazzling Broadway.” It is mysterious, but it can cause anxiety. That’s why the Mellotron that pops into it is warm like sunlight and the pop melody feels the temperature. The sound board is ideal for drawing the subtleties of the live performance itself, but it requires a sense of “space” in order for the sound to stir up the “scene”…. Such “description power because it is an audience” is wonderful.
Furthermore, the performance itself is also important. As mentioned above, the tour was from North America to the UK, but the full length sound board is almost in North America. However, the performance of the band is more familiar to Europe/UK who have improved their skills. Of course, the British tour soundboard “DEFINITIVE LIVERPOOL 1975 (Virtuoso 368/369)” also reigns, but this work is also a site experience board.

Actually, part of “Fly On A Windshield” was missed, and “Lily white Lilith” was only the last part. Unfortunately, it is not a complete recording without a moment’s love. However, even if you push it, the core maniacs of the world love and cannot stop because it is possible to experience the “story scene”. This is the live album that enthusiastically sought after many years of searching for “the supreme experience” and recorded “Anyway” to update the highest peak ever. “I want to stand on the Broadway tour scene” “I want to take on the story drawn with the best performance”… Such a dream of a maniac. これが“THE LAMB LIES DOWN ON BROADWAY TOUR”の全景。大まかに北米→欧州の流れであり、欧州編は大陸→英国→大陸に細分されます。本作のサウスハンプトン公演は、母国イギリスでの3公演目にあたるコンサートでした。
さらに言えば、演奏そのものも重要。上記したようにツアーは北米→英国の流れでしたが、全長サウンドボードはほぼ北米でのもの。しかし、バンドの演奏は練度を上げた欧州/英国の方がこなれているのです。もちろん英国ツアーの大名盤サウンドボード『DEFINITIVE LIVERPOOL 1975(Virtuoso 368/369)』も君臨していますが、本作はその現場体験盤ともなるものなのです。

実のところ「Fly On A Windshield」の一部が録音漏れとなり、「Lilywhite Lilith」もラスト・パートのみ。残念ながら一瞬のスキもない完全収録とはいきません。しかし、それを押しても世界のコア・マニア達が愛して止まないのは「物語の現場」を体験できるからに他ならない。マニア達が長年に渡って探し求めた「体験感の至高」を詰め込み、「Anyway」まで収録して過去最高峰を更新したライヴアルバム、それが本作なのです。「ブロードウェイ・ツアーの現場に立ちたい」「最高の演奏で描かれる物語を浴びたい」……そんなマニアの夢の結晶。どうぞ、永久保存プレス2CDで存分にご体験ください。
