“THE HOUSE OF BLUE LIGHT Tour” has been re-evaluated after 35 years. It is the birth of a new masterpiece that allows you to experience the scene in the best possible way.
It was the performance of “Wembley Arena on March 4, 1987” that was imbued with this work. It is the best audience recording. “WEMBLEY 1987 (Darker Than Blue 132/133)” comes to mind when you say “Wembley in 1987”, but this work is a completely different performance. To explain the situation in that area, let’s first look back on the schedule at that time.

This is the 1987/1988 DEEP PURPLE. Ritchie Blackmore’s injury is one of the milestones, but this work is before the injury. It was the first act of the only home country mini tour “UK” leg in the V period. From this leg, not only the aforementioned “WEMBLEY 1987” but also the new masterpiece “EDINBURGH 1987 (Darker Than Blue 295/296)” released the other day has been very popular. Now zoom in to “UK” and check.
・ March 3 “WEMBLEY 1987”
・ March 4: Wembley performance ← ★ This work ★
・ March 6 “EDINBURGH 1987”
・ March 7: Birmingham performance
・ March 8: Birmingham performance
It’s a live album that connects the two press masterpieces in this way to form a trilogy. However, even if the position is a trilogy, the quality is one step ahead. The most wonderful thing is the on-direct feeling. There is no recording position left, but the performance is just around the corner. Even in “WEMBLEY 1987” and “EDINBURGH 1987”, it was a direct feeling that was far from the 80’s, but the dimension of the core that pops out in front is clearly different from the Guigui of this work. What’s more, it’s not just a rushing force, but the tightly packed response doesn’t have a sense of distance, so it doesn’t seem like a recording through space. That is the density of FM broadcasts.
The dense sound that is suitable for calling it a “sound board” is a high-tension full show in which “five golden people” compete with each other. This “British” leg is also known for its rich performance, and especially “EDINBURGH 1987” was talked about the tension that exploded to the point of being out of control. Although this work is not so explosive, the concentration is by no means defeated. To put it simply, the variety of phrases is rich and hard and soft. Jon Lord feels like he’s sandwiching cool phrases at key points, but Ritchie is mischievous. It’s hard to put the feeling of improvisation into words, but the fast-firing running and the wide range of slow long tones make it possible to stir up your concentration with the unexpected phrase carrying.
The biggest surprise at such a full show was the final encore “Smoke On The Water”. After a slightly longer break of over 3 minutes, the members returned to the stage and played that riff … the organ. Yes, Ritchie refused the encore on this day. I think the main set is freaky because it didn’t feel like a slack, but the result is “Smoke On The Water” in the keyboard quartet. It is a live album where you can enjoy the activities of John, who plays two roles by using the organ and synth properly, with a very thick direct sound.
England where there was only one performance of Knebworth in the “PERFECT STRANGERS” era. It is a live album where you can experience the energetic home country tour that was finally realized three years after the reunion. A new masterpiece that boasts an outstanding direct feeling as one in the permanent preservation trilogy. Please enjoy it to your heart’s content.
★ The best audience recording of the “March 4, 1987 Wembley Arena” performance. It’s a show between the press masterpieces “WEMBLEY 1987” and “EDINBURGH 1987”, but the quality is one good. Anyway, the performance is close, the core pops out in front, and there is no sense of distance in the tightly packed response. That is the famous recording of FM broadcasting. Ritchie refuses the encore while improvising. The rare keyboard quartet “Smoke On The Water” is also a new masterpiece that you can enjoy with the best sound.
★★ THE HOUSE OF BLUE LIGHT TOUR The best sound quality board. The content is also the best. This is amazing! !! !!
