ディスク１は、本作のメインとなるのは1972年10月1日ボストン公演です。10月ということで、「君の意思のままに」から「屈折する星屑」に繋がるオープニングなどは1973年ツアーでも踏襲されるパターンが既にここに完成しています。ボストンは常にそうなのですが、音質はこの時代を考慮せずとも非常に優れているもので、1972年のオーディエンス録音の中でも最高峰のひとつ。後半は、1972年5月にトライデント・スタジオで行なわれたモットザフープルと共に行なわれたセッションを収録しています。

ディスク2は、1972年のレア・トラック集となっています。5月から7月にかけて行なわれたツアーからの音源で、この時期はまだ試行錯誤を繰り返しており、セットリストも意外なナンバーを演奏していたりと、定型化されていないライヴならではのサプライズが多く、非常に興味深いもの。5月6日ロンドン公演からは「ボブディランに捧げる歌」「アムステルダム」などバンドとの事前のリハが必要のないアコースティック曲、さらにレアなカバー曲「Gotta Get A Job」を収録。この曲は最近になって5月7日ヘムルへムステッド公演のテイクが発掘され、それも収録されています。そして驚きは1972年7月18日アリスバーリー公演で披露されたビートルズのカバー「THIS BOY」です。コーラスワークが美しいオリジナルに対し、ここではボウイ一人の歌唱となっており、元々ビートルズマニアで学生時代に「ビートルズヘアーの少年たち」ということでテレビ出演したこともあるボウイのこの曲の新しい解釈となっています。 　ディスク2の後半は11月25日クリ―ヴランド公演より、ボストン公演などから漏れた楽曲を収録しています。選曲は翌1973年のツアーで定番となるセットリストばかりで、「サフラゲットシティ」を経て「ロックンロールの自殺者」で締めくくるステージのエンディングが完成しています。

ジギーがジギーになる直前の1972年10月1日ボストン公演をメインに、その他同年のステージよりレア・ナンバーを収録した本作は、1972年のステージを俯瞰的に捉えたタイトルとしてボウイ・マニアにとって不可避なタイトルといえるでしょう。美しいピクチャーディスク仕様の永久保存がっちりプレス盤です。
