69年6月20日の英ニューカッスル公演をメインに、3月22日英バーミンガム公演より3曲と、米コロンビア公演より1曲を収録したZEP’69年レア・ライブ・コンピ盤がプレス盤にて登場です！
元々は数年前にリリースインフォをしたものの延期となっていたものですが、タイトルを変更した以外は当初の企画通りの形態でリリース決定です！勿論プレスのボーナスディスクも付属(下記参照)！

メインのニューカッスルの部分は極めてマニア向けの音源ですが、海外のコレクターから提供を受け制作。ネット音源よりも一部曲間カットが少ない(Pat’s Delight~How Many間は初のノーカット収録)などのアドバンテージはありますが、元々音質的には厳しく、極めて上級者向けの音源です。モノラル・オーディエンス録音で演奏そのものは至近距離で捉えた音源ですが、録音時点での低音の潰れが目立ち、またヒスノイズも多い音源です。今回のCD化にあたり低域を若干イコライング処理で緩和、ヒスノイズも僅かに除去してはいますが、やり過ぎると楽音が浮き沈みおするなどの不自然なサウンドとなり、逆に劣化してしまいますので、影響の出ない範囲で、処理は僅かにとどめていますので、ヒスノイズと低域の潰れに関してはある程度の忍耐を要します。なお、既発で頻発していた「バチバチ」と言ったデジタル的な音の歪み、劣化はありませんので、その点はいつも通りの必要最小限の本レーベルの丁寧なマスタリングで仕上がっています。6曲目はロバートのハーモニカをフィーチャーした小曲です。MCではハーモニカを貸してくれないか？会場内が暑くてハーモニカのピッチが狂っている、などと言っているようです。

Disc2の後半に収録されたバーミンガム公演は短い収録時間が惜しまれますが、当時としては上質なモノラルオーディエンス録音でありながらあまりリリースに縁のない音源です。
こちらもネット音源ではなく海外のコレクター提供の音源を使用。ネットではないアングラでは、ニューカッスルとバーミンガムの2音源がカップリングされて流通していました。音源的には、ネット版と殆ど同じでありますが、細かい点を上げますと、ネット版ではフェード処理されていた音源の両端部分のテープノイズが若干長い程度で、幻惑の演奏終端は演奏そのものがフェードアウトではなくカットアウトとなっている程度の違いです。既発では狂っていたピッチもここでは丁寧に補正されノーイコライングで収録しております。

かなりのマニア向けな音源ですが、これら収録の日はまともなブートが一切出ておらず酷いイコライジングを施した物が出ていませんでしたので、これが決定盤です。

Disc2最後のコロンビア公演も90年代からリリースされている胸いっぱい1曲のみで、まずまず良好といえるモノラルオーディエンス録音です。ネット音源を丁寧にリマスター収録。
もとの音源にあった、ちょっとした音切れを極力丁寧に補修。定位もモノラルらしく出だしのところで左に寄る以外はセンターで安定した定位で鑑賞頂けます。これが現状ベストと言える仕上がりです。

レアな当時のプロモLPからダイレクトに復刻。
当時のレギュラーリリース盤にも見られるスタンパー(PRクレジットあり)ですが、極上盤から収録。
抜けがよくドラムが意外と派手目なUK盤とはまったく対照的なサウンドで、定説では控えめで繊細なUK盤に対し、とにかく派手目なUS盤と言われますが、聞く場所(コミュニケーションあたりのドラム)によっては実は全くの逆であることが分かります。またミックスに関しても一応同じはずなのでしょうが、各楽器の分離、配置など、かなり異なるのも面白いところです。

またステレオの左右のチャンネルの問題についても念のため触れておくと、ここでは2014年最新ミックスと同じもの(1曲目Good Timesのイントロハイハットは右ch)で、当時のUK盤とUS盤または日本グラモフォン盤LPなどは全て同じ(＝2014年版と同じ定位。)であり、恐らく70年代の再発に際しUS盤と日本盤が反転、その後90年代のCDリマスターでも反転、ということではないでしょうか。
本限定ボーナスCD用の4面ジャケも同梱仕様です。
