Yngwie Malmsteen / Nakano Sunplaza 1996 1st Night : Definitive Master / 2CD / ZODIAC
Yngwie Malmsteen visited Japan for the first time in 1996 with Mark Boles, the No. 1 transcendent singer of all time. The first original recording that conveys the scene has been newly discovered. An emergency release has been decided with a permanent preservation press 2CD.
What is engraved on this work is “November 6, 1996: Nakano Sunplaza performance”. This is a superb audience recording recorded in one act of “INSPIRATION Japan Tour”. This tour is also a rich area for famous recordings, and our store has archived various masterpieces. First, let’s organize the collection by schedule and check the position of this work.
・November 2nd “NAGOYA 1996”
・November 4th “INSPIRATION JAPAN TOUR 1996 (Osaka)”
*November 5th “TOKYO 1996 1ST NIGHT (Shinjuku)”
*November 6th: Nakano Sun Plaza ←★This work★
*November 7th “TOKYO 1996 FINAL NIGHT (Nakano)”
*Note: Shows marked with an asterisk (*) have been made into press CDs.
All of the above five performances are live albums with original recordings, but the particularly powerful ones are the press masterpieces “TOKYO 1996 1ST NIGHT (Zodiac 539)” and “TOKYO 1996 FINAL NIGHT (Zodiac 567)”. This work is also the last one to connect the time and complete the “Tokyo Press Trilogy”.
As you may have noticed if you are an avid collector, this show has also been reported as “TOKYO 1996 2ND NIGHT (Shades 1659)”. This work is a reissue of that famous recording. . . Well, no. A different recording by a completely different person. This is a completely new live album that will be released for the first time.
And the sound is incomparable to anything that was released on the same day. “TOKYO 1996 2ND NIGHT” is great enough even if you listen to it now, but this work is direct with several turns on. Even when listening with headphones, there is almost no hall noise, and the outline is crisp and clear. It is a so-called “sound board” type.
If you compare such a sound with a press masterpiece, the previous day’s “TOKYO 1996 1ST NIGHT” may be the closest. However, even though the sounds are very similar, the show itself is superior to this work. In order to understand its meaning, let’s compare it with the press masterpiece “TOKYO 1996 1ST NIGHT” here.
●Original
・Vocal songs: Liar / Queen In Love / I’ll See The Light Tonight / You Don’t Remember, I’ll Never Forget (★) / Rising Force (★)
・Instrumental: Far Beyond The Sun/Black Star
●Cover
・Ritchie Blackmore song: Child In Time/Pictures Of Home/Gates of Babylon
・Jimi Hendrix song: Red House (*) / Manic Depression (*)
・Others: The Sails of Charon (SCORPIONS) / In the Dead of Night (U.K.) / Carry On Wayward Son (KANSAS)
*Note: Songs marked with an asterisk (*) are mainly sung by Yngwie. Songs marked with “★” cannot be heard on “TOKYO 1996 1ST NIGHT”.
…and it looks like this. While the instrumental “Icarus’ Dream Suite Op.4” that was played the previous day was dropped, this work included “You Don’t Remember, I’ll Never Forget” and “Rising Force”. The highlight of this tour is Mark’s singing voice, so the more vocal songs there are, the better, and in fact, their splendor is exceptional. “Rising Force” has been brought back to life in a more classical and dignified way, and “You Don’t Remember, I’ll Never Forget” is one of the masterpieces that was not performed on the return visit to Japan in 1999/2001. . Of course, Mark who sings the cover group that is the core of “INSPIRATION Japan Tour” is also exquisite.
Mark also came to Japan for the “ALCHEMY Tour” and “WAR TO END ALL WARS Tour”, but at that time, the new songs from the album were the main focus. Although that wasn’t bad, the real pleasure of “Classics Sung by Mark” ran out in 1996. Another press masterpiece that permanently preserves such a monument tour was born. A shocking new excavation master that will compete with the final day’s super masterpiece “TOKYO 1996 FINAL NIGHT” for the best masterpiece position. Please enjoy it to your heart’s content.
★Excellent audience recording of “November 6, 1996: Nakano Sun Plaza Performance”. This is a newly discovered original recording that is different from what has already been released, and the sound is direct with several stages on. Even when listening with headphones, there is almost no hall noise, and the outline is crisp and clear. This is a great recording that is like a “soundboard,” and you can enjoy a delicious full show with many covers of famous songs and Mark Bolles singing “You Don’t Remember, I’ll Never Forget” and “Rising Force.”
