故バーニー・マースデン本人が秘蔵していた“Bernie Tapes”で甦る最初期WHITESNAKEの真実！　細心マスタリングによる最高峰更新サウンドを永久保存するプレスCDで４作品同時リリース決定です!!
今回同時リリースとなる４連作は、いずれもWHITESNAKEが始動したばかりの1978年を伝える極初期のライヴアルバム。それもバーニー本人がわざわざ当店を訪れて直接ご提供くださった秘宝中の秘宝なのです。そんな４連作の第三弾となる本作に吹き込まれているのは「1978年７月９日ライセウム劇場」公演。１回限りの超・激レア曲も美味しいオーディエンス録音が（大幅！）アップグレードを果たした決定盤です。
その気になるレア曲の前に、まずはショウのポジション。今回のバーニー・テープ４連作を交えつつ、当時の活動概要から俯瞰してみましょう。

これが1977年／1978年のWHITESNAKE。この時点でのメンバーチェンジは鍵盤だけで、ブライアン・ジョンストン→ピート・ソーリー→ジョン・ロードと交代していきました。本作が記録された「欧州」レッグは『SNAKEBITE』にも参加した２代目ピート時代。ただピートはあくまでサポート参加で正式メンバーではなく、ライヴも繋ぎの６公演のみでした。場数からして激レアなのですが、実は記録は豊富で、当店の定番『SILVER TONGUE（Power Gate-147）』『LOVEHUNTER: LOST REEL MASTERS』でもお馴染みだったりします。ここで更に日程をフォーカスし、そのコレクションも整理しておきましょう。

……と、このようにサウンドボード２種／オーディエンス２種が楽しめるのです。ここで「なんだ、全然レアじゃない」と思われた方は気が早い。本作は、この４本の中でも最もレアなセット・リストなのです。それでは、その内容もチェックしてみましょう。

この「欧州」レッグから「Come On」を演奏し始めたのですが、それ以上に重要なのは２つの激レア曲「Bloody Mary」「Don’t Mess With Me」。この２曲は後にも先にも、この日にしか記録がない（即興アカペラで「Bloody Mary」をちょろっっと歌う事はありましたが、フルは本作だけです）。まさに究極のレア曲なのです。さらに言えば、「Come On」「Bloody Mary」が揃っていることで、EP『SNAKEBITE』の全曲をステージ披露。歴史上１回こっきりの「生演奏版SNAKEBITE」でもあるのです。
レア曲ばかりで長くなってしまいましたが、本作はアップグレード幅も超重要ポイント。初登場したのは20年ほど前の伝説盤『COME TASTE THE BAND（の一部）』だったのですが、もしお持ちでしたらちょっと聴いてみてください。左チャンネルがオフ気味で、右チャンネルに思いっきり寄ったバランスにお気づきになるでしょう。ところが、本作ではこれが非常に自然。これは右チャンネルを左からも流している。。。のでは、ありません。初回CD化ではスポイルされていた左チャンネルの演奏音を最大限に復刻。小手先フェイクではなく、前回盤では聴けなかった「本当の現場音」を甦らせているのです。

The truth about the earliest WHITESNAKEs is brought back to life with “Bernie Tapes”, which was treasured by the late Bernie Marsden himself! Four works will be released at the same time on a press CD that will permanently preserve the highest quality updated sound through meticulous mastering!!
The four consecutive works released at the same time are all very early live albums that convey 1978, when WHITESNAKE had just started. It is also a hidden treasure that Barney himself personally visited our store and offered it to us. This work, which is the third of such four series, is inspired by the “Lyceum Theater July 9, 1978” performance. This is a definitive edition that has been upgraded (significantly!) with delicious audience recordings of one-time only ultra-rare songs.

This is WHITESNAKE in 1977/1978. At this point, the only member change was on the keyboard, with Brian Johnston → Pete Thorley → Jon Lord. The “European” leg in which this work was recorded was during the 2nd generation Pete era, who also participated in “SNAKEBITE”. However, Pete was only a support participant and was not an official member, and the live performances were only for 6 performances. Although it is extremely rare considering the number of times it has been sold, there are actually a lot of records, and it is even familiar from our store’s standard “SILVER TONGUE (Power Gate-147)” and “LOVEHUNTER: LOST REEL MASTERS.” Now let’s further focus on the dates and organize the collection.

*Note: Songs marked with “★” are songs that could not be heard in the sister works “MUSIC MACHINE 1978” and “RAFTERS 1978”. In particular, “★★” is a super limited song that has only been confirmed for this work.

I started playing “Come On” from this “European” leg, but what is more important than that are the two extremely rare songs “Bloody Mary” and “Don’t Mess With Me.” These two songs have only been recorded on this day, both later and earlier (I did sing a little bit of “Bloody Mary” in an improvised a cappella, but this is the only full version). It is truly the ultimate rare song. Furthermore, since “Come On” and “Bloody Mary” are available, all songs from the EP “SNAKEBITE” will be performed on stage. It is also the “live performance version of SNAKEBITE” that has only been performed once in history.
Although it was long because it was full of rare songs, the range of upgrades is also a very important point in this work. It first appeared on the legendary record “COME TASTE THE BAND” about 20 years ago, but if you have it, please give it a listen. You’ll notice that the left channel is a bit off, and the balance leans towards the right channel. However, in this work, this is very natural. This also feeds the right channel from the left. . . So, no. The performance sound of the left channel, which was spoiled in the first CD release, is reproduced to the maximum extent possible. It is not a fake fake, but it revives the “real on-site sound” that could not be heard in the previous edition.

★Audience recording of the July 9, 1978 Lyceum Theater performance provided by the late Bernie Marsden himself. The only recording of the extremely rare songs “Bloody Mary” and “Don’t Mess With Me” that you can enjoy has been brushed up with the latest and meticulous mastering. In the legendary record “COME TASTE THE BAND”, which was the first appearance, the left channel, which was slightly off, was repaired. The balance, which had been too far to the right, has been corrected, and the true on-site sound has been revived.
