Steve Hackett embarked on a complete reproduction tour of the symphonic rock masterpiece “FOXTROT”. A super-superb live set that allows you to experience the scene is now available.
This work contains two performances. It is a superb audience 3-disc set with DISC 1-2 for the full recording of “May 3, 2023 Essen performance” and DISC 3 for the superb view image of “May 14 Gothenburg performance”. Last year’s “SECONDS OUT” reproduction visit to Japan is also a new memory “GENESIS REVISITED”, but this time “FOXTROT” reproduction …… It’s not a simple story to say. In order to introduce the situation around that, let’s first organize the current situation with the schedule.

This is the solo performance after 2022 that has been announced so far. It’s a tremendous number of performances that I can’t believe he’s 73 years old, but even this is only a part of Jiyu th. In addition to his solo performances, he has performed regularly with DJABE, acoustic performances, and orchestral performances. It’s like being in your 20s and doing energetic activities, so much so that I’m worried about my health.
Aside from that, the solo tour will basically be the “GENESIS REVISITED” series, but it’s actually progressing three types at the same time. One is “SECONDS OUT + MORE!”, which is familiar from last year’s visit to Japan, one is “SECONDS OUT” reproduction tour with the South American band GENETICS in the background, and “FOXTROT” complete reproduction tour “FOXTROT” that started last fall. at FIFTY + HACKETT HIGHLIGHTS”. The two performances of this work are “Europe # 2”, which is a reproduction tour of “FOXTROT”. It was a concert corresponding to the 9th performance / 17th performance.
Even if they tried their best to find evidence of the audience, they could only find applause between songs. To be honest, the person who recorded it is open to the public, so I’m introducing it as a customer record, but my eardrums and brains are not convinced at all.
A full show of the latest “GENESIS REVISITED”, “FOXTROT + α”, is depicted with such a transcendent sound. As usual, “Part 1 = Hackett’s solo song” and “Part 2 = GENESIS special feature”, so let’s organize the contents here.

What’s more, it’s the camera work that supports the staff footage. In fact, this is a fixed angle that hardly moves. It may seem like it’s not good enough to write like this, but when you actually see it, it’s really good. Originally, there is no stage action in Hackett’s live, but the light show is colorful and extremely beautiful. This work perfectly captures the feast of light, especially in the second part, the waterfall of light rays that seems to have started to move the artwork of “SECONDS OUT” is a masterpiece. And the combination of this fixed angle and perfect superb view looks like a video for checking the actual lighting.
It’s truly a “visual daimyo board” and “moving FOXTROT”. The “GENESIS REVISITED” series has become Hackett’s lifework, but the tastes are still endless. Once again, the dream of a prog player has been brought to life. This work is a super-luxury set that allows you to fully experience the latest tour with a superb live album and a superb view shot from the perspective of the people involved. A 3-disc set that will be the first report and the decision board. Please enjoy it to your heart’s content.
★ A 3-disc set of the best audience with a full recording of “Performance in Essen on May 3, 2023” + superb view video of “Performance in Gothenburg on May 14”. The Essen recording is a super-superb recording that can only be heard on the sound board, and the Gothenburg video is a superb view that captures the whole stage so beautifully that you think it is a staff shoot. It is a decision board where you can fully experience the latest tour with a complete reproduction of the Daimyo board “FOXTROT” as a whole.

そんな本作に収められているのは２公演。「2023年５月３日エッセン公演」のフル録音をDISC 1-2、「同５月14日ヨーテボリ公演」の絶景映像をDISC 3に配した極上オーディエンス３枚組です。昨年の『SECONDS OUT』再現来日も記憶に新しい“GENESIS REVISITED”が、今度は『FOXTROT』再現……と言い切ってしまうほどシンプルな話でもない。その辺の状況をご紹介するためにも、まずはスケジュールで近況を整理しておきましょう。

これが現在までに公表されている2022年以降のソロ公演。73歳とは思えない凄まじい公演数ですが、慈雨th抗これでも一部だけ。ソロ以外にも定例となっているDJABEとの共演公演やアコースティック公演、オーケストラ共演までこなしている。まるで20代の若者のような精力的な活動ぶりに健康が心配になってしまうほどです。
さておき、ソロ・ツアーは基本的に“GENESIS REVISITED”シリーズとなるわけですが、それも実は３種を同時進行している。１つは昨年の来日でもお馴染みの“SECONDS OUT + MORE!”、１つは南米バンドGENETICSをバックにした『SECONDS OUT』再現ツアー、そして昨年秋から始まった『FOXTROT』完全再現ツアー“FOXTROT at FIFTY + HACKETT HIGHLIGHTS”。本作の２公演は『FOXTROT』再現ツアーである「欧州#2」。その９公演目／17公演目にあたるコンサートでした。
【DISC 1-2：エッセン公演の超極上オーディエンス録音】
まず登場するのが「５月３日エッセン公演」のフル録音なのですが、これがもうド肝を抜く極上モノ。とにかく芯が極太でド密着。ヘッドフォンで聴いてもホール鳴り成分が聞き分けられない完全ゼロ距離サウンドなのです。しかも、ディテールも超鮮明ならセパレート感も絶大。それもギターやリズム隊といったパワーサウンドだけでなく、フルートやシンセ、サンプリングした鐘の音やSEに至るまで、あらゆる音が超極太なのです。
全力でオーディエンスの証拠を探しても曲間の喝采くらいしか見つからない。正直なところ、録音した本人が公開しているので客録と言っているのでそうご紹介してはいますが、鼓膜も脳みそもまったく納得してくれません。
そんな超絶サウンドで画かれるのは、「FOXTROT＋α」な最新“GENESIS REVISITED”のフルショウ。例によって「第一部＝ハケットのソロ曲」「第二部＝GENESIS特集」となっていますので、ここでその内容を整理しておきましょう。

【DISC 3：ヨーテボリ公演の絶景オーディエンス・ショット】
続くDISC 3は、そんな最新“GENESIS REVISITED”を独り占めできる絶景オーディエンス・ショット。会場後方からステージ全景を捉えつつ、遮蔽物がまったくない。視点がステージ上のメンバー達とほぼ同じくらいで、１階アリーナ客の遙か頭上を素通りしてハケットと正対する感じなのです。会場の構造が分からないので断言できませんが、客席視点と言うよりは、まるで会場設営カメラによる関係者ショットと言われた方がしっくり来るほどです。
しかも、そのスタッフ映像っぽさを後押ししているのがカメラワーク。実は、これがほとんど動かない固定アングルなのです。こう書くと今いちなように思われるかも知れませんが、実際に観るとこれが実にイイ。もともとハケットのライヴにステージ・アクションなどない一方、ライトショウは多彩で極めて美しい。本作は、その光の饗宴を完全に捉えきっており、特に第二部では『SECONDS OUT』のアートワークが動き出したような光芒の滝が圧巻なのです。そして、この固定アングルと完全絶景の組み合わせが本番の照明をチェックするための映像のようにも見えるわけです。
まさに「目で観る大名盤」「動くFOXTROT」。もはやハケットのライフワークと化している“GENESIS REVISITED”シリーズですが、まだまだ趣向は尽きることがない。今回もまた、プログレ者の夢をものの見事にカタチにしてくれました。本作は、そんな最新ツアーを超絶ライヴアルバムと関係者視点な絶景ショットで丸ごと２公演フル体験できる超豪華セットです。第一報にして決定盤となる３枚組。どうぞ、心ゆくまで存分にお楽しみください。
