It is a 1978 sound board live sound source of Sonny Rollins. During this period, Rollins released albums vigorously from Milestone Label, which can be said to be a good period. Mark Thorskin and Jerome Harris who are participating in this live also participate in the album and the team work is outstanding. Al Foster, who participated here although the drummer had relatively many changes, also participated in the album “Don’t Ask” released the following year, and he may have liked it at this live. Speaking of Al Foster, it is no exaggeration to say that he is the biggest contributor to the Electric Miles Band, and his performance in the Rollins Band is also a must-see. Coltrane’s masterpiece “IMPRESSIONS” is also a must-listen.
In addition, the master was over 81 minutes, but in consideration of cost performance and ease of listening, the talk between songs was cut and edited to fit on one disc. The fade-out of the final track is due to the original master (maybe the length for programs such as radio).

ソニー・ロリンズの1978年のサウンドボード・ライヴ音源です。この時期ロリンズはマイルストーン・レーベルより精力的にアルバムをリリースしており、好調期と言えます。本ライヴに参加しているマーク・ソースキンやジェローム・ハリスもアルバムに参加しておりチーム・ワークは抜群。ドラマーは比較的変更が多かったもののここに参加しているアル・フォスターも翌年発表のアルバム『Don’t Ask』に参加しており、このライヴで気に入ったのかも。アル・フォスターと言えばエレクトリック・マイルス・バンド最大の貢献者と言って過言でない存在で、ロリンズ・バンドでのプレイも要注目です。コルトレーンの名曲『IMPRESSIONS』も必聴。
尚、マスターは81分強ありましたが、コスパと聴きやすさを考慮し曲間のトークをカット、ディスク一枚に収まるよう編集してあります。最終トラックがフェード・アウトなのはオリジナル・マスターに起因（ラジオなどの番組用の尺なのかもしれません）するものです。
