SCORPIONS from the Uli Jon Roth era, where the hot eyes are focused on the continuous excavation of “SWISS TV 1977 (Shades 1444)” and “MINDEN 1974 (Zodiac 491)”. This is the 1974/1975 SCORPIONS. “MINDEN 1974” was just before the release of “FLY TO THE RAINBOW”, but this work is just before “IN TRANCE”. It was the 4th performance of “Europe # 2”. Also, this period has received a lot of attention. In addition to the succession of excavations, research by enthusiasts is entering a new phase. In fact, with the excavation of “MINDEN 1974”, one of the enthusiasts contacted the member at that time: Jurgen Fechter. It seems that he was provided with new materials such as the live schedule. Although details have not been released yet, it is certain that the conventional theory was wrong, at least for Jurgen’s tenure. The performance in Cologne of this work was also considered to be after the change of Rudy Leonards, but it seems that it was in the Jurgen era (the above schedule is based on the conventional information. Details such as date and number of performances will be changed soon. May be done).
Anyway, such a Cologne performance is known for the fact that the sound board was left behind, and it has reigned as a staple of the Uri era. This work is also the standard sound board, but it is not a copy or remaster recurrence of the existing group. It is the highest peak version released by the enthusiast who contacted Jurgen mentioned above. Its quality is exactly the highest ever. As expected, it is not the type that is touted as “official grade!”, But the master freshness, which is different from the conventional one, is overwhelming, the core is stronger, and the details are clear in every detail.
Above all, the sense of stability is different. You can enjoy a sharp but glossy sound from beginning to end with almost no twisting or shaking. Moreover, this work is the highest peak of such a new excavation master. It’s pretty fast on the net original sound, and it adjusts the changing pitch as accurately as possible. The gap between “This Is My Song” and “They Need A Million” has also been corrected, and the already excellent stability has been further tightened to achieve a listening response.

そんな本作に収められているのは「1975年４月26日ケルン公演」。そのステレオ・サウンドボード録音です。1975年と言えば、「IN TRANCEの年」として記憶されるわけですが、本作はその１つ前となる“FLY TO THE RAINBOW Tour”。先日のプレス新名盤『MINDEN 1974』とも併せ、当時のスケジュールからショウのポジションを確かめてみましょう。

これが1974年／1975年のSCORPIONS。『MINDEN 1974』は『FLY TO THE RAINBOW』発売の直前期にあったわけですが、本作は『IN TRANCE』の直前。「欧州#2」の４公演目にあたるコンサートでした。また、この時期は非常に注目されている。発掘が相次いだのもさることながら、マニアによるリサーチが新たな局面を迎えているのです。実は、『MINDEN 1974』の発掘に伴ってマニアの１人が当時のメンバー：ユルゲン・フェヒターとコンタクト。ライヴ日程など、新たな資料を提供されたそうなのです。まだ詳細は公開されていないものの、少なくともユルゲンの在籍期間は従来の定説が誤っていたことは確実。本作のケルン公演も従来はルディ・レナーズ交代後とされてきましたが、どうやらユルゲン時代だったようです（上記の日程は従来情報を元にしています。日付や公演数などの細部は近々変更されるかも知れません）。
ともあれ、そんなケルン公演はサウンドボードが残された事でも知られ、ウリ時代の定番として君臨してきました。本作もその定番サウンドボードなのですが、既発群のコピーやリマスター再発ではありません。先述したユルゲンとコンタクトを取ったマニアが公開した最高峰版なのです。そのクオリティは、まさに過去最高。さすがに「オフィシャル級！」と喧伝するタイプではありませんが、従来とは次元の違うマスター鮮度は圧倒的で芯はより力強く、ディテールも細部の細部まで鮮明なのです。
何より、安定感がケタ違い。ヨレや揺れがほとんどなく、鋭くも艶やかなサウンドを終始楽しめる。しかも本作はそんな新発掘マスターの最高峰。ネット原音ではかなり速く、それも変化していたピッチを可能な限り正確に調整。「This Is My Song」「They Need A Million」間のギャップも修正し、ただでさえ優れた安定感をさらにビシッと締めたような聴き応えを実現したのです。
その最高峰更新サウンドで描かれるのは、衝撃作『MINDEN 1974』とも異なるショウ。ここで比較しながら整理してみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。『FLY TO THE RAINBOW』ナンバーを軸としているのは『MINDEN 1974』と同じですが、さらにレパートリーが増加。カバー類も異なっていますが、オリジナルも次作『IN TRANCE』の名曲「Robot Man」が登場している。そして目玉なのは何と言っても未発表曲「Rock ‘N’ Roll Queen」でしょう。「All Night Long」のように、当時の彼らにはスタジオ録音しなかったレパートリーが幾つかあるのですが、この曲もその１つ。ライヴでしか聴けない軽快なブギ・ナンバーを最高峰更新サウンドで楽しめるわけです。
ディーター・ダークスと出逢い、新たなステージへと駆け上がっていった1975年のSCORPIONS。今まさに飛躍を遂げようとしていた時期の彼らが脳みそに侵入してくるサウンドボード・アルバムのアップグレード盤です。このまま2022年は「サソリ年」になるのかも知れない……そんな予感さえ脳裏をよぎる新発掘マスター。どうぞ、存分にお楽しみください！
