The masterpiece “AMSTERDAM 1972 EARLY SHOW: SOUNDBOARD (Uxbridge 1944)” was released the other day and was very well received. A sister version that will be the sequel will appear as soon as possible. Such a work was recorded on the same day as the previous work, “December 3, 1972 Amsterdam”. The previous work was an early show out of two performances a day, but this work is a late show stereo sound board recording.

This is the 1972/1973 SANTANA. After the completion of “CARAVANSERAI”, Neil Schon & Greg Rowley left to form JOURNEY, and started a tour with a new system with Tom Coster and others. The Amsterdam performance of this work was the 22nd performance of “Europe # 1”, which is the beginning of it.
This work, which conveys such a stage, is a low gene master discovered by the same route as the previous work “EARLY SHOW”. And the quality is similar to its predecessor. The shock is the freshness, not to mention the extra thick and direct feeling peculiar to the sound board. Of course, there is a sense of the times of musical instruments and equipment, but there is no vintage feeling in the tone that is neither cloudy nor overshadowed, and there are almost no dubbing marks or tape deterioration. There is a fresh feeling that the instrument was sounding just now in every corner.
So far, those who have experienced the previous work “EARLY SHOW” will be able to feel it with their own skin, but this work is actually more than that. The key is stereo feeling. It’s not a mix that blows away with a violent pan, but it has a different three-dimensional effect than the previous work, which was a monaural sound board.
Like the previous work, what is depicted on such a stereo soundboard is a show that can be called “the previous chapter of Lotus”. The set is the same as the previous work, but let’s repeat it here just in case.

The previous work (Early Show) had a short conventional edition, so the increase in the number of songs became a hot topic, but this work (Late Show) was hardly known in the first place. In other words, the whole story is the biggest listening. Like the previous work, there is a slight recording omission at the beginning of “Savor”, but this also includes the part where “Stone Flower” reprises after “Xibaba (She-Ba-Ba)”. It is a live album with a higher degree of perfection.
1972 SANTANA with passionate guitars and a variety of percussion. It is a brilliant sound board album that engraves each fine sound in the brain. The late show, which had a more limited distribution than the early show and was hardly known. However, its contents exceeded the previous work in both sound and recording time. There is no doubt that it is a sister work that enjoys two performances a day with “previous work + this work”, but more than that, this work alone is a masterpiece of cultural heritage class. 先日リリースされ、大好評を博した名作『AMSTERDAM 1972 EARLY SHOW: SOUNDBOARD（Uxbridge 1944）』。早くもその続篇となる姉妹篇が登場です。そんな本作が記録されたのは、実は前作と同日「1972年12月３日アムステルダム」。前作は１日２公演のうちのアーリーショウでしたが、本作はレイトショウのステレオ・サウンドボード録音です。
冒頭から「大好評」だの「同日」だのと畳みかけてしまいましたが、前作『EARLY SHOW』を見逃された方のためにも、まずはショウのポジションから始めましょう。

これが1972年／1973年のSANTANA。『CARAVANSERAI』完成後にJOURNEY結成のためにニール・ショーン＆グレッグ・ローリーが離脱し、トム・コスター等を迎えた新体制でツアーを開始。本作のアムステルダム公演は、その序盤である「欧州#1」の22公演目にあたるコンサートでした。
そんなステージを伝える本作は、前作『EARLY SHOW』と同じルートによって発掘されたLowジェネ・マスター。そして、クオリティも前作と似ている。サウンドボード特有の極太感・ダイレクト感は当然として、衝撃なのは鮮度。もちろん楽器・機材の時代感覚はありますが、曇りも陰りもない音色にはヴィンテージ感覚がまるでなく、ダビング痕やテープ劣化もほとんど見られない。隅々までついさっき楽器が鳴っていたようなフレッシュ感覚が宿っているのです。
ここまでは前作『EARLY SHOW』を体験された方なら肌感覚で実感されるでしょうが、実は本作はそれ以上でもある。そのカギはステレオ感。激しいパンで吹っ飛ぶようなミックスでもないのですが、モノラル・サウンドボードだった前作とは異なる立体感があるのです。
そんなステレオ・サウンドボードで画かれるのは、前作と同じく「ロータス前章」とも言うべきショウ。セットは前作と同一ではありますが、念のためここでも再掲しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。前作（アーリーショウ）は短い従来盤があったので曲数増量が話題となりましたが、本作（レイトショウ）はそもそもほとんど知られてきませんでした。言わば、全編が最大の聴きどころなわけです。前作と同じように「Savor」冒頭にわずかな録音漏れがありますが、こちらは「Xibaba (She-Ba-Ba)」後に「Stone Flower」がリプライズするパートもしっかり収録。より完成度の高いライヴアルバムなのです。
情熱的なギターと多彩なパーカッションが乱れ飛ぶ1972年のSANTANA。その細かな１音１音を脳に刻み込むような鮮烈サウンドボード・アルバムです。アーリーショウよりも流通量が限られ、ほとんど知られてこなかったレイトショウ。しかし、その中身はサウンドも収録時間も前作を超えるものでした。「前作＋本作」で１日２公演を味わう姉妹作なのも間違いありませんが、それ以上に本作だけでも文化遺産級の大傑作なのです。そんな衝撃の新発掘Lowジェネ・マスター。どうぞ、存分にお楽しみください。
