Rod, who was at the peak of superstardom after releasing the blockbuster “BLONDES HAVE MORE FUN”, traveled around the world. It was released as “L.A. FORUM 1979 FINAL NIGHT: MIKE MILLARD 1ST GENERATION TAPES” that captured the enthusiasm, but it became clear this time that he had recorded other shows as well.
Such a newly discovered show will be held on June 19th at San Diego’s Sports Arena. Strangely enough, the date and same venue where Millard recorded ZEP’s stray performance two years ago, but as was the case with ZEP in 1977, Millard on this day also serves as a rehearsal for the coming LA Forum. I guess I participated in the war.
So, compared to this channel’s “L.A. FORUM 1979~”, the sound image is a little deeper, but it still maintains a sufficiently mirrored quality, and I can assure you that it is sufficiently excellent.
What makes me happy is that in the previous “L.A. FORUM 1979~”, Millerd was late for the live and failed to record the first two songs, but this time it’s completely recorded. It can be said that it was a rehearsal and rather a result of challenging the recording without being overwhelmed.
In addition, the sound image becomes thicker from the middle, and the powerful sound produced by Gary Grainger, the guitarist who supported the rod’s heyday, is a masterpiece. After all, the mirrored quality exploded.
Then, in the scene unique to this tour, where the final stage of “(I Know) I’m Losing You” shifts to “Layla”, his guitar can be tasted with tremendous force.
In addition, the JEMS team recalled that “the popularity of the rods at the time was amazing” at the time of this release, but it is also unique to Millard that they have captured the enthusiasm unique to such a peak tour with a harmonious balance.
As I mentioned at the time of the release of “L.A. FORUM 1979~”, this tour seemed to be at its peak and was blessed with official items, but the whole picture of the stage that could not be reproduced with them was revealed with high sound quality. The value of this mirrored recording is immeasurable in terms of making it.
As if to make up for the disappointment of the previous “L.A. FORUM 1979~” where the first two songs were not recorded, this time the complete recording of the best mirrored audience document was delivered. The enthusiasm and excitement unique to the heyday, the state of the rod and the band that unfolds the performance in such an intoxicating situation is vacuum-packed!
