Our shop’s THE POLICE soundboard series that has been archived by the best master. Introducing an FM soundboard album that further enhances the collection.
What is recorded in such a work is “Berlin performance on April 6, 1980”. It is the stereo sound board recording. As you may know if you have noticed this article, the initial THE POLICE cannot limit the tour only by “○ year”, and in 1980, the “REGGATTA DE BLANC Tour” and the “ZENYATTA MONDATTA Tour” are divided depending on the time. . Let’s take a bird’s eye view of what position this work is in, along with the representative works of each leg.

This is THE POLICE in 1980. Speaking of 1980, the legendary first visit to Japan is symbolic above all, but the Berlin performance of this work is about two months later. It was the 6th performance of “Europe # 2”, which is the final stage of the first half “REGGATTA DE BLANC Tour”. We have already reported “Europe # 2” with the masterpiece “LYON 1980: FM REEL MASTER (Uxbridge 1946)”, but this work was also the show before that.
This work, which conveys such a stage, is a vintage but furiously vivid real sound board. Although “LYON 1980” was lively performance, the finish by mix and effects was also official style. On the other hand, this work is full-blown. Although this work was originally an FM broadcast, it feels like a live broadcast studio live, judging from the sharpness of the performance sound and the rough balance (actually one size larger than the Budokan) It’s a hall concert for 2000 people).
The point more than such a sticky sound is the complete recording of the full show. The latest work “LYON 1980: FM REEL MASTER”, which has been quoted from earlier, was edited in less than an hour according to the broadcast frame, but this work is overwhelmed by the volume of the number of songs. Let’s organize them by comparing them here.

… and it looks like this. Not only is the number of songs simply increasing, but “Driven to Tears” of “ZENYATTA MONDATTA”, which will start production in three months, has already been performed. This song has begun to be played from the Oceania leg, and this work can be enjoyed with a valuable early version directly connected to the brain.
The sound with a slightly vintage feeling is not as good as the official grade, so I missed the permanent preservation press, but the complete recording is large. A live album where you can fully enjoy the full show at the end of the “REGGATTA DE BLANC Tour”, which is different from the first visit to Japan, with a brilliant soundboard. Please, please fully experience with this work of the best master.

そんな本作に記録されているのは「1980年４月６日ベルリン公演」。そのステレオ・サウンドボード録音です。本稿に目を留められた方ならご存知と思いますが、初期THE POLICEは「○年」だけではツアーが限定できず、1980年も時期によって“REGGATTA DE BLANC Tour”と“ZENYATTA MONDATTA Tour”が分かれる。その中で本作がどんなポジションにあるのか、各レッグの代表作と共に俯瞰してみましょう。

これが1980年のTHE POLICE。1980年と言えば、何よりも伝説の初来日が象徴的ではありますが、本作のベルリン公演はその約２ヶ月後。前半“REGGATTA DE BLANC Tour”の最終盤となる「欧州#2」の６公演目に当たるコンサートでした。当店ではすでに名作『LYON 1980: FM REEL MASTER（Uxbridge 1946）』で「欧州#2」をレポートしておりますが、本作はその１つ前のショウでもありました。
そんなステージを伝える本作は、ヴィンテージ的ながら猛烈に生々しいリアル・サウンドボード。『LYON 1980』は演奏こそ生々しかったものの、ミックスやエフェクト類による仕上がりはオフィシャル風でもありました。それに対して本作は本生丸出し。本作も元はFM放送なわけですが、ド直球な演奏音のムキ出し感と荒っぽいバランスからすると、まるで生放送のスタジオ・ライヴのようにさえ感じられます（実際には武道館より一回り大きい1,2000人クラスのホール・コンサートなのですが）。
そんなムキ出しサウンド以上にポイントなのが、フルショウの完全収録。先ほどから引き合いに出ている直近作『LYON 1980: FM REEL MASTER』は放送枠に沿って１時間弱に編集されていましたが、本作は曲数ボリュームで圧倒しています。ここで比較しながら整理してみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。シンプルに曲数が増えているだけでなく、３ヶ月後には製作を始める『ZENYATTA MONDATTA』の「Driven to Tears」が早くも披露されている。この曲はオセアニア・レッグから演奏去れ始めており、本作は貴重な初期バージョンを脳みそド直結サウンドボードで楽しめるのです。
ややヴィンテージ感のあるサウンドはオフィシャル級に半歩及ばず、そのために永久保存プレス化は逃しましたが、完全収録は大きい。初来日とも異なる“REGGATTA DE BLANC Tour”終盤のフルショウを鮮烈サウンドボードでとことん味わい尽くせるライヴアルバム。どうぞ、ベスト・マスターの本作で存分にご体験ください。
