でもそれが有り得たのです。詳しく情報を追ってみるとこれは海外のフロイドマニアの間で” Stratcat58’ “なる名称で知られていたテープ(恐らくリール・テープ)で、この大元のマスター・ソースをプロのレコーディング・スタジオを使用してクリーンアップしたメタルテープのカセットマスター(Maxell metal cassette / 1st Gen)がまず存在し、それを借り受けて更に別のカセット(Maxell XLII-90)にコピーしたものが今回の使用ソースとなっている様なので、確かに今回の使用音源は2ndジェネである様です。これは流出情報を知らなければ、まさかこの音質が2ndとはにわかに信じられないでしょう。それほどの透明度、演奏音の近さと明瞭感、そして音域の幅と厚みは驚くべきものがあるのですが、ただ欠点が無かったわけではありません。このStratcat58’テープの唯一の欠点と言えるのが「太陽讃歌」の欠落です。またピッチも補正し切れていない箇所があった為、当レーベルが最新機材を駆使してそれら欠点の厳密な補正と修正に乗り出し、原音を最高値で出す為の丁寧な最新リマスターを決行しました。「太陽讃歌」に関しては前記した同日公演の既発Sirene盤の該当部分を改めて精査し、2015年最新リマスターを施す事でStratcat58版ソースの音に近いクオリティを実現し、それを追加収録する事で全てのクオリティを現状考えられる最高レベルまで引き上げる事に成功しました。これによってこの日の公演の全容が過去最高のハイグレードなサウンドで欠落無く聴き通せる様になった訳ですが、この傑出した仕上がりを2CDでプレスしたものがまさに本タイトル、つまり当Sigmaレーベル初登場の70年フィラデルフィアになったのです!!

再生ボタンを押すと、とても45年前の録音とは思えない明瞭にして威力ある「Astronomy Domine」が素晴らしいな透明度の中から浮かび上がってきます。実際に既発のSirene盤と聴き比べて戴くと分かりますが、ただでさえ近かったあの演奏音が更に手前に出て至近距離のサウンドとなっているのですから驚きを隠せないでしょう。サウンドの輪郭もシャープに際立ち、明瞭さのアッパー感も瞬時にお分り戴ける筈です。これによって曲が持つミステリアスな姿が更に生々しくその姿を現しますので、その興奮に強く打ち震えて戴けるでしょう。「Cymbaline」では音と音の隙間にこそ演奏の意図が感じられる様な、雑味の無い音色が曲を通して響き渡ります。静音部の流麗な動きも既発盤以上に追えるようになり、途中にある女性の足音と吐息、ドアを開け閉めするシーンもその映像的な音響効果が信じ難いほどの明瞭さと間近さを伴って耳元に広がります。「A Saucerful Of Secrets」もまた透明度の高さとサウンドの鋭さがパーフェクトに出ている傑出した一曲です。リズムレスで進行する前半部はそれぞれの響きが創造力を喚起させるサウンドとして立体的に飛来し、後半ではエコーを掛けられたギターの歪んだ単音やシンセの薄い音の膜が一枚ずつ幾重にも折り重なって、深く厚いところへ降りてゆく音の描写に美しい陰影を幾つも見付けて戴けるでしょう。「Interstellar Overdrive」はミステリアスな浮遊感がパーフェクトな音像で甦り、弾力と厚みのあるこの深い響きが魅力です。途中から入る弱音の対話、すなわち『THE JOURNEY』組曲にも使用された「The Labyrinths Of Auximenes」に相当するシーンも既発盤以上に近くて明瞭な音で現れるので是非御注目戴きたいと思います。尚、00分08秒～09秒付近に左チャンネルで一瞬の音抜けがあるのですが、これは今回のソース特有のドロップ部分で、大元のソースは既発Sirene盤と同一ながら派生してきたルートが違っている目印となっており、あえて残してあります。これは「ユージン…」の00分56秒～57秒で左チャンネルに一瞬だけ現れるノイズも同様です。どちらもSirene盤にはありませんので、お持ちの方は違いを確認してみるのも面白いでしょう。

「Fat Old Sun」では、あのいかにも英国的でリリカルな曲想が潤いある音色で揺れ動く様子にウットリされるでしょう。メンバー全員が柔らかいタッチで音を綴り、軽々しく情熱を出しすぎないよう抑制している様子が伺え、曲の元々の意味を探る様な演奏が高解像度の麗しい音でお愉しみ戴けると思います。「ユージン…」は御存知の通り前曲「Green Is The Colour」の終曲部からそのままメドレーで始まるという、この時期ならではのプレイ・スタイルです。音を極限まで削ぎ落とす事によって生み出される緊張感や、低音を無くす事で得られるミステリアスな浮遊感が広がりのある響きで進行する様子に思わず息を呑むでしょう。またここは後半でニックが激しく叩き込んでいるのも特徴で(※特に6分44秒～)、それらの音のひとつひとつにも鋭い奥行きを感じて戴けると思います。また終曲手前でアクセントの様に何度か入る、惨劇後の息を整える吐息もそれぞれ既発盤より鮮明に現れるので御注目下さい。「太陽讃歌」は残念ながらこのStratcat58’テープには未収録だった為、この曲のみ既発のSirene盤から2015年最新リマスターを施した上で追加収録しております(※演奏は間違いなく同日のものです)。この仕上がりもまた公式級の音像となっており、陰鬱で呪術的なあの主旋律が万華鏡の如くパラレルに回る姿がマスター・サウンドさながらの音質でお愉しみ戴けるでしょう。終演後20秒間の観客の拍手、ロジャーの” Thank You “という言葉まで実に2分近く収録されているのも特筆されます。またこの録音では音群移動装置の効果からか、リズムレスになる中間部で効果音が急に右チャンネルから鮮明に浮き出す特徴的なシーンがあり(※8分38秒～終曲付近まで)、その間に左チャンネルで微かに鳴り続ける別の効果音とのコラージュ・融合感も素晴らしい音像を形作っていますので、この様子も是非チェックしてみて下さい。

本タイトルを聴いて恐らく誰もが思うことは「音が良いねぇ」「凄い録音だねぇ」「Yeeshkul !」といった、幸せなアッパー感だと思います。ただ、長くブートレッグ音源を聴いてきた方や自分でテープ録音した事がある方なら分かると思いますが、例え巧く録音に成功したからと言っても、そのアナログテープの品質を約45年間維持し続けるのは大変なことです。つまりアナログ録音が長期間に渡って状態良く残ってきたという事はそれだけ大切にされてきたということに他なりませんし、一部のマニアの間で知られていたこのStratcat58’なるマスターテープも、保有者によって長年大切にされ、その品質管理がしっかり為されてきたのでしょう。それを強く伺えるクオリティの高さがここにありますし、実際この収録音を聴いて戴ければ単に音質が優れている以上の、テープ管理の良さが背後に伺える筈です。だからこそ当レーベルもいつも以上に丁寧で厳密なブラッシュアップを施して、これに記録されていた原音本来の魅力を最高値で惹き出す事に努めた訳です。それによって最高のサウンドの輝きを実現した本作は、70年フロイドが持っていた音の選択眼やサウンド・イメージの不思議な組み立て方に至近距離で迫れる、この公演の新しいスタンダードになると確信していますので、今週末は是非とも本作をお試し下さい。限定ナンバリングステッカー付き・美麗なピクチャーディスク仕様で、遂にSigmaから過去最高の仕上がりを誇る70年フィラデルフィア公演が初登場致します!!
