13: Twice in a Lifetime-Recorded March 14, 1985 with Paul, Eric Stewart and Martin Chambers (The Pretenders). The saxophone is believed to have been put in by Roxy Music’s Andy Mackay. It was supposed to be the theme song for a movie directed by Bud Yorkin, starring Gene Hackman, but it ended up being unused.

“Say Say Say” was mostly written after Michael Jackson jammed with Paul. The next day, I helped Paul finish the lyrics. Recording began as an acoustic demo at AIR Studios in London in May 1981. In April 1982, Michael recorded a new demo with a studio musician in Los Angeles. Paul liked this version so much that he only added vocals in February 1983. After releasing “Thriller” and most of its singles, “Say Say Say” was released on October 3, 1983.
6: Ode to a Koala Bear-Alternate mix, Paul sings “Koala style bear” instead of “Koala type bear”. In Australia, it was recorded and released on 7 “of” Say Say Say “.

◉ Album commentary
The concept of this work has been decided to some extent since the last recording, and although it was originally planned to be released as a set of 2 with “Tug of War”, it was a single unit because the record company showed disappointment. It will be released at. After finishing the recording of “Tug of War” at the end of 1981, Paul took a few weeks off to record the new song to be recorded in this work at a studio in London from January of the following year. After that, he spent time on finishing work such as remixing the previous work and promotion, and resumed recording in September of the same year. The recording was done for a long time until January 1983. Initially scheduled for release in March, the release date was significantly delayed due to McCartney’s busy filming and other work at the time. It is produced by George Martin following the previous work “Tug of War”, and the members of the recording are almost the same. In this work, he co-wrote and competed with superstar Michael Jackson in “Say Say Say” and “The Man” due to the worldwide hit of “Thriller”. “Say Say Say” was released as a single and became a big hit, winning first place in the United States and second place in the United Kingdom. He also co-wrote “Hey Hey” with Stanley Clarke.

◉アルバム解説
本作の構想は前回のレコーディング時からある程度決まっており、当初は『タッグ・オブ・ウォー』とのセットで2枚組で発売する予定であったものの、レコード会社が難色を示した為に単体で発売されることとなった。1981年末に『タッグ・オブ・ウォー』のレコーディングを終えた後、ポールは数週間休暇を取り、翌年の1月からロンドンのスタジオで本作に収録される新曲のレコーディングを行った。その後、前作のリミックスといった仕上げ作業やプロモーションに時間を費やし、同年の9月からレコーディングを再開。 レコーディングは1983年の1月までと長期にわたって行われた。当初は3月の発売が予定されていたが、当時のマッカートニーが映画撮影やその他の作業で多忙だったために発売日が大幅に遅れることとなった。前作『タッグ・オブ・ウォー』に引き続きジョージ・マーティンがプロデュースしており、レコーディングのメンバーもほぼ同じである。本作では『スリラー』の世界的ヒットにより、スーパー・スターとなったマイケル・ジャクソンと『セイ・セイ・セイ』、『ザ・マン』で共作・競演。『セイ・セイ・セイ』はシングル発売され、米国1位・英国2位を獲得する大ヒットとなった。 他にはスタンリー・クラークと『ヘイ・ヘイ』を共作している。
