◉ Album commentary
“Off the Ground” is Paul McCartney’s album released in 1993. After the 1989-1990 world tour “The Paul McCartney World Tour” was over, recordings were made with the tour’s support members. This work rehearses the entire song, records it in one take, and minimizes overdubbing, making it a work that emphasizes band sound. “Mistress and Maid” and “The Lovers That Never Were” are songs that were produced during the previous work “Flowers in the Dirt” and participated in the recording of this work. Although not, it is a collaboration with Elvis Costello. “C’Mon People” was arranged and conducted by George Martin, and “Mistress and Maid” and “Golden Earth Girl” were arranged and conducted by Karl Divis (co-author of “Liverpool Oratorio”). In addition, the two songs “Biker Like an Icon” and “Peace in the Neighborhood” were taken up during the rehearsal held around November 1991, and were first recorded in this work. It’s a broken song. As a secret track, “Cosmicary Conscious”, which was produced during the Beatles’ stay in India in 1968, is recorded.

◉アルバム解説
『オフ・ザ・グラウンド』（Off the Ground）は、1993年に発表されたポール・マッカートニーのアルバムである。1989年から1990年にかけて行われたワールド・ツアー『The Paul McCartney World Tour』の終了後、ツアーのサポート・メンバーと共にレコーディングが行われた。 本作は1曲全体をリハーサルし、ワンテイクでレコーディングを行ったり、最小限のオーヴァーダビングで済ませるようにするなど、バンド・サウンドを重視した作品に仕上がっている。「ミストレス・アンド・メイド」「ザ・ラヴァーズ・ザット・ネヴァー・ワー」は、前作『フラワーズ・イン・ザ・ダート』の際に制作されていた楽曲であり、本作のレコーディングには参加していないものの、エルビス・コステロとの共作となっている。「カモン・ピープル」はジョージ・マーティン、「ミストレス・アンド・メイド」「ゴールデン・アース・ガール」はカール・ディヴィス（『リヴァプール・オラトリオ』の共作者）がオーケストラの編曲・指揮を担当した。 また、「バイカー・ライク・アン・アイコン」、「ピース・イン・ザ・ネイバーフッド」の2曲は、1991年11月頃に行われたリハーサル時に取り上げられたもので、本作では最初にレコーディングが行われた楽曲である。 シークレット・トラックとして、1968年のビートルズのインド滞在の際に制作されたという「コズミカリー・コンシャス」が収録されている。
