A stereo soundboard recording that captured Mick Taylor’s 2001 stage suddenly appeared on the Internet and surprised maniacs around the world. After all, the sound quality is excellent. The clearness unique to a digital PA sound board is overwhelming.

With such outstanding quality, I thought it would be possible to release it on a press CD, but due to the age of the DAT master, digital noise was generated from the middle of the finale “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking”, and that was the cause. This time, it was released on CD-R.

Around this time, Taylor released the album “A STONES’ THROW” and performed live activities centered on songs from that album, and as the 21st century entered, she began to perform even more energetically with keyboardist Max Middleton. evolved into.
The stage composition is such that “Secret Affair” from the same album is placed at the opening, and songs from the album such as “Losing My Faith” and “Late At Night” form the core of the set list.
By 2001, this type of live performance had reached its completion, and they were presenting an adult blues rock sound on stage every night.

Taylor also performs lead vocals throughout the song. He has performed on many stages since the release of “A STONES’ THROW”, and his singing is even more confident than what was heard on the album.
On “Going South,” which also served as a solo performance by the band members, Middleton also showed off his wonderful keyboard skills. This time, the perfect stereo sound board conveys Taylor’s guitar and Aun’s breathing.
What’s most amazing is that Taylor plays so comfortably with such an iron-clad band in the background.
It is now a long time ago that Taylor’s live performance at this time was a real tie and audience recording titles were released gradually. The shocking new excavated stereo sound board will make you realize once again the splendor of Taylor’s stage at this time.

この手の録音は演奏のダイレクトさが押し出されて実際のライブ感が薄れてしまう場合がままありますが、今回の録音は各楽器のバランスが非常に良く、それこそこのままオフィシャルでリリースできてしまうのでは？と思うほどのクオリティ。
もっともPAサウンドボードゆえ臨場感の希薄さは否めないのですが、それを補ってあまりある音の良さ。さすがはKrw_Coが公開してくれただけのことはある。
これほど抜きんでたクオリティであればプレスCDでのリリースすら可能かと思えたのですが、DATマスターの経年によってフィナーレ「Can’t You Hear Me Knocking」の途中からデジノイズが発生しており、そこが原因で今回はCD-Rでのリリースと相成りました。

この頃のテイラーはアルバム『A STONES’ THROW』をリリース、同アルバムからの曲を中心としたライブ活動を展開しており、それが21世紀を迎えるとキーボードのマックス・ミドルトンと共にさらに精力的なライブ活動へと進化。
ステージの構成は同アルバムからの「Secret Affair」がオープニングに配置され、さらに「Losing My Faith」や「Late At Night」といったアルバム収録曲がセットリストの中核を成しています。
こうした構成のライブが2001年には完成の域に達し、大人のブルースロックなサウンドを毎晩のステージで披露していたのでした。

そして全編に渡ってテイラーはリードボーカルも披露。『A STONES’ THROW』リリース後に多くのステージをこなしてきただけのことはあり、アルバムで聞かれた以上に自信に満ちた歌いっぷりが板についています。
バンドメンバーのソロ回しを兼ねた「Going South」ではミドルトンも見事な鍵盤さばきを披露。それが今回の完璧なステレオ・サウンドボードによってテイラーのギターと阿吽の呼吸を見せている様子まで伝えてくれます。
こうした鉄壁のバンドをバックにテイラーが気持ち良さそうに弾きまくっているのが何より素晴らしい。
この時期のテイラーのライブがリアタイでオーディエンス録音タイトルが細々とリリースされていたのも今は昔。衝撃の新発掘ステレオ・サウンドボードで改めてこの時期のテイラーのステージの素晴らしさを再認識してもらえることかと。
ストーンズ・カバー「No Expectations」もこの時期のテイラーらしいルーズなバンドアレンジで演奏されているのが魅力的で、なおかつ完璧な音質で楽しめてしまう。
最初に触れたデジノイズは何とも惜しいのですが、それに目をつぶってあまりあるステレオ・サウンドボード録音で2001年のミック・テイラー・ショウをじっくりとお楽しみください。演奏も音質も最高です！
