Michael Schenker in 1997 held a conceptual 25th anniversary concert that traced the history of glory with masterpieces. The original DAT master that allows you to experience the scene is a new discovery.
The performance of “March 20, 1997: Nakano Sun Plaza” is imbued in this work. It is a superb audience recording that vacuum-packed one act of “25th Anniversary Michael Schenker Story”. Of course, speaking of the 25th anniversary performance in Japan, the official work “THE MICHAEL SCHENKER STORY LIVE” is familiar, but this work is a completely different performance. First of all, let’s check each other’s positional relationship on the schedule at that time, which was also “MSG visit to Japan for the first time in 13 years”.

A total of 5 performances. The official work was also performed at Nakano Sun Plaza, but this work was the day after the same venue. This work, which contained such a scene, is a shocking super-superb sound. This is the latest work in the Nagoya DAT master series, which has been producing masterpieces and masterpieces in a row. The vocals have a sense of space, so it must be an audience recording, but the rhythm corps and guitars have a completely zero sense of distance. It’s hard to say that the previous day was a genuine official, so it’s hard to say “sound board class”, but I still want to affirm ….
The glorious history of Schenker spelled out in the now-lost “Gibson V” is depicted with a sound that is just like a sample of a “guitar album”. The set list is the same as the official board and follows the history of 25 years in chronological order. However, it is not only that, so let’s organize it again here.

The first half consists of playing one song from each album from “LONESOME CROW” to “WRITTEN IN THE SAND” in chronological order (4 songs only for the latest work “WRITTEN IN THE SAND” at that time), and the second half is a regular concert. It was a random song order style like. In addition, each part has its own taste, and in the first half of the “WRITTEN IN THE SAND” number, the original Leif Sundin makes a beautiful wet voice, and an unplugged corner is set up at the beginning of the second half. “Never Ending Nightmare” and “Positive Forward” are also shown.
And the point in terms of performance is probably the late David Van Landing. The way he sings “Assault Attack” brilliantly with a powerful high tone is a masterpiece, and it is regrettable that a studio work featuring him was not made (McAULEY SCHENEKR is struggling even with that landing. GROUP number.I didn’t notice it because the original Robin sang it without difficulty, but it may actually be quite a difficult song).
This is a live album that traces the “glorious history of famous songs” while enjoying the beautiful sound of Gibson V. Because it is the day after the official work, it has to be a little maniac, but the sound quality and listening response are super high. It is the birth of a new masterpiece that further enhances the reputation of the “Nagoya DAT series”.

栄光の歴史を名曲で辿るコンセプチュアルな25周年コンサートを開催した1997年のマイケル・シェンカー。その現場を極上体験できるオリジナルDATマスターが新発掘です。
そんな本作に吹き込まれているのは「1997年３月20日：中野サンプラザ」公演。“25th Anniversary Michael Schenker Story”の一幕を真空パックした極上オーディエンス録音です。もちろん25周年の来日公演と言えば、公式作品『THE MICHAEL SCHENKER STORY LIVE』でもお馴染みなわけですが、本作は完全な別公演。まずは「13年ぶりのMSG来日」でもあった当時の日程で互いの位置関係を確認してみましょう。

以上、全５公演。公式作も中野サンプラザ公演だったのですが、本作は同会場の翌日でした。そんな現場を封じ込めた本作は、衝撃的なまでの超極上サウンド。名作・傑作を連発している名古屋DATマスター・シリーズの最新作なのですが、ド密着なギター・サウンドがとんでもなく強力！ ヴォーカルには空間感覚もあるのでオーディエンス録音には違いないのですが、リズム隊やギターは完全にゼロ距離感覚。前日が正真正銘のオフィシャルだけに「サウンドボード級」とは言いにくいのですが、それでも断言したい……と申しますか、他楽器を差し置いて前に出まくるギターに関しては「オフィシャル以上」でさえあります。
まさに「ギター・アルバム」の見本のようなサウンドで画かれるのは、今は失われてしまった「ギブソンＶ」で綴る栄光のシェンカー史。セットリストは公式盤と同じで25年の歴史を時系列に追っていくもの。ただし、それだけでもないのでここで改めて整理してみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。前半は『LONESOME CROW』から『WRITTEN IN THE SAND』までの各アルバムから１曲ずつ時系列に演奏していく構成（当時の最新作『WRITTEN IN THE SAND』のみ４曲）で、後半は通常コンサートのようにランダム曲順スタイルでした。さらにそれぞれのパートにも趣向があり、前半の『WRITTEN IN THE SAND』ナンバーではオリジナルのリーフ・スンディンがウェットな美声を聴かせ、後半の冒頭ではアンプラグド・コーナーを設置。「Never Ending Nightmare」や「Positive Forward」も披露しています。
そして演奏面でポイントなのは、やはり故デヴィッド・ヴァン・ランディングでしょう。力強いハイトーンで「Assault Attack」を見事に歌いこなす様は圧巻で、彼をフィーチュアしたスタジオ作品が作られなかったことは今さらながら惜しまれます（そのランディングをもってしても苦戦しているのがMcAULEY SCHENEKR GROUPナンバー。本家ロビンが難なく歌っていたので気づきませんでしたが、実はかなりの難曲なのかも知れません）。
ギブソンＶの美音を目の前感覚で味わいながら「名曲で綴る栄光の歴史」を辿っていくライヴアルバムです。公式作品の翌日なためにややマニアックにならざるを得ませんが、サウンド・クオリティも聴き応えも超極上級。「名古屋DATシリーズ」の名声をさらに高める新名盤の誕生です。
