In 1991, Michael Schenker broke new ground in acoustic music with his partner Robin McAuley. The best sound board / pro shot decision board set is now available.
This work contains two records of one show. It is a two-disc set with DISC 1 for the newly excavated stereo sound board recording of “November 4, 1991 Frankfurt performance” and DISC 2 for the multi-camera pro shot. I think that some people have already come to the pin, but the video of this show has been a famous classic for a long time. However, this time, a completely different superlative FM soundboard master was discovered.
Before the quality that bothers me, first of all is the position of the show. Speaking of their acoustic live, the official work “UNPLUGGED” LIVE and our shop’s gift board “ACOUSTIC GIG IN JAPAN 1991” are familiar, so let’s take a look at the whole activity together.

This is Michael Schenker in 1991/1992. McAULEY SCHENKER GROUP’s 3rd album “M.S.G.” was an electric masterpiece, but the group collapsed while management was reluctant to release it. In the end, the tour was only unplugged with Michael & Robin’s combination and a trio organized with Spencer Secom as support. This work is the beginning of such unplugged activities. It was the second stage of the promotional tour “Europe #2”.
As mentioned above, this show was broadcast on TV and became a standard professional shot, but it was also broadcast on FM radio. This work is set with the highest peak master of the FM sound board and TV pro shot. Let’s introduce each one individually.
The sound is “completely official grade” without questions. Not only is there no dubbing deterioration, but the storage condition was good, so you can not feel any deterioration over time. The vividness of receiving the broadcast radio waves at that time directly … No, it is surprising that it was such a high-quality broadcast. It’s a crazy story, and even if you alternately play one song at a time with the official “UNPLUGGED” LIVE, it doesn’t sound bad at all. [DISC 2: The highest peak master of the classic TV pro shot] The replacement DISC 2 is a TV broadcast pro shot that will be a video version. The gift board “ACOUSTIC EVENING IN FRANKFURT” was set with the familiar best master. Some people may have experienced it on the gift board, but this master is still wonderful. Although the analog sense of the times is undeniable, the freshness without dubbing marks is exquisite, and the visual beauty without a single white line noise still holds the highest peak.
Here’s the status of unplugged pro shots for collectors. Their professional shot video is the official “UNPLUGGED” LIVE and this work is the two major classics, but there are also other TV appearances in Japan and Canada. The above-mentioned gift title “ACOUSTIC GIG IN JAPAN 1991” is a compilation of such professional shots. In other words, it is complete with three of “official + this work + ACOUSTIC GIG IN JAPAN 1991”.
The Frankfurt performance was a big classic along with the official “UNPLUGGED” LIVE. It is a decision board that sets the FM stereo broadcast and TV broadcast pro shot. An absolute work by McAULEY SCHENKER GROUP with few soundboards/pro shots. Please, please fully enjoy this work of Best Master.
* A 2-disc set with DISC 1 for the stereo sound board recording of “November 4, 1991 Frankfurt performance” and DISC 2 for the multi-camera pro shot. DISC 1 is a stereo broadcast version that is different from the monaural TV broadcast. DISC 2, a large standard pro shot, is also set with the best master. It is an absolute work along with the official work “UNPLUGGED” LIVE.
相棒ロビン・マッコーリーとアコースティックの新境地を拓いた1991年のマイケル・シェンカー。その極上サウンドボード／プロショットの決定盤セットが登場です。
そんな本作に収められているのは１つのショウの２つの記録。「1991年11月４日フランクフルト公演」の新発掘ステレオ・サウンドボード録音をDISC 1、マルチカメラ・プロショットをDISC 2に配した２枚組です。もうピンと来ている方もいらっしゃると思いますが、このショウの映像は以前から有名な大定番。しかし、今回は従来とはまったく異なる極上級のFMサウンドボード・マスターが発掘されたのです。
その気になるクオリティの前に、まずはショウのポジション。彼らのアコースティック・ライヴと言えば、オフィシャル作『”UNPLUGGED” LIVE』や当店のギフト盤『ACOUSTIC GIG IN JAPAN 1991』もお馴染みですので、併せて活動全景を俯瞰してみましょう。

これが1991年／1992年のマイケル・シェンカー。McAULEY SCHENKER GROUPの3rdアルバム『M.S.G.』はエレクトリックの傑作だったわけですが、マネジメントがリリースを渋っている間にグループは崩壊。結局、ツアーはマイケル＆ロビンのコンビに、スペンサー・セコムをサポートに迎えたトリオ編成のアンプラグドのみになりました。本作は、そんなアンプラグド活動の序盤。プロモツアー「欧州#2」の２公演目にあたるステージでした。
前述のように、このショウはTV放送されて定番プロショットとなっているわけですが、他にFMラジオでも放送。本作は、そのFMサウンドボードとTVプロショットの最高峰マスターでセットしているのです。それでは、それぞれ個別にご紹介していきましょう。
【DISC 1：ステレオ放送だった新発掘FMサウンドボード】
本作のメインとなるのは、新発掘のサウンドボード・アルバム。TV放送ではモノラルでしたが、ラジオはステレオ放送でした。しかも、本作はその最高峰マスター。ドイツの名録音家として名を上げている「G.Mann」コレクションから発掘されたエアチェック・マスターで、一切のダビングを経ていない大元カセットからダイレクトにデジタル化されているのです。
そのサウンドは、問答無用の「完全オフィシャル級」。ダビング劣化がないばかりか、保存状態も良かったのか経年劣化もまるで感じられない。当時の放送電波を直接受信しているような鮮やかさ……いや、これほどハイクオリティな放送だったのかと驚かされるほどです。むっちゃけた話、本物オフィシャルの『”UNPLUGGED” LIVE』と１曲ずつ交互に再生してもまったく聴き劣りしないのです。
【DISC 2：大定番TVプロショットの最高峰マスター】
代わってのDISC 2は、映像篇となるTV放送プロショット。ギフト盤『ACOUSTIC EVENING IN FRANKFURT』でもお馴染みのベスト・マスターでセットしました。ギフト盤で体験された方もいらっしゃるかも知れませんが、このマスターはやはり素晴らしい。時代柄アナログ感覚は否めないものの、ダビング痕のない瑞々しさは絶品で、白線ノイズ１本もない映像美は今なお最高峰の座を譲りません。
ここでコレクター諸兄のためにアンプラグドのプロショット状況について。彼らのプロショット映像はオフィシャル『”UNPLUGGED” LIVE』と本作が２大定番となるわけですが、その他にも日本やカナダのTV出演もあります。そうしたプロショットを集成したのが上記にもあるギフト・タイトル『ACOUSTIC GIG IN JAPAN 1991』です。つまり「公式＋本作＋ACOUSTIC GIG IN JAPAN 1991」の3本でコンプリートです。
オフィシャル『”UNPLUGGED” LIVE』と並ぶ大定番だったフランクフルト公演。そのFMステレオ放送とTV放送プロショットをセットした決定盤です。サウンドボード／プロショットの少ないMcAULEY SCHENKER GROUPの絶対作。どうぞ、ベスト・マスターの本作で存分に御堪能ください。
