1999 KANSAS who returned to Japan with the lineup that the late Robby Steinhardt also returned. Introducing an original recording that vacuum-packs the memorial site.
The performance of “March 11, 1999: Nagoya Bottom Line” was imbued with this work. It is the best audience recording. Although it is not well known, in fact, KANSAS in 1999 was able to come to Japan twice. First, let’s look back on the schedule at that time to recall the situation.

This is the 1999 performance in Japan. The main Japan tour was realized in March, but a few months later Kerry Livgren returned. On New Year’s Eve, I performed at a special event held at a US military base in Okinawa. Of course, the Nagoya performance of this work is the former. Unfortunately, Kelly isn’t there, but it was my first visit to Japan in 1980 with the lobby.
This work recorded at such a site is a superb audience with a clear atmosphere. You can’t mistake it for a sound board because of its ultra-realistic cheers and snare sounds, but you’ll want to mistake it for the strength of the core and the fineness of the details. Anyway, the feeling of air is crystal clear and clear, and the outline of each note of all instruments is clear and vivid, and the feeling of separation is also great. No matter how intricate phrases and rhythms are intertwined, it is wonderful that they never mix. Since the site is a club scale, it is a wonderful recording that transforms the sense of space into a closed room rather than a sense of distance.
The sound depicts a treasure chest of masterpieces centered on the two major masterpieces “LEFTOVERTURE” and “POINT OF KNOW RETURN”. Let’s organize the contents here.

And it is the performance itself that makes you feel the brilliance of the golden age more than such a set. Robby Steinhardt’s violin is especially appealing. David Ragsdale, who came to Japan the previous time (1996), was also wonderful, but the originator has a different presence. It seems that the familiar masterpieces have regained their original brilliance (I want to listen to the Okinawa recording with Kerry Livgren’s participation!).
KANSAS in 1999 reminded me of the legendary first visit to Japan for both famous songs and ensembles. It is a cultural heritage-class brand album that allows you to fully experience the wonderful live performance on a club scale. An original recording that gives you a feeling of a closed room that cannot be achieved by line recording, while having a quality comparable to that of a sound board.
