JUDAS PRIEST from the “REDEEMER OF SOULS” era opened a new chapter with Richie Faulkner, turning the “EPITAPH Tour” that was supposed to be the end of it. Introducing a new excavation master who can experience the performance in Japan on-site.
This work is inspired by the “March 11, 2015: Nippon Budokan” performance. This is the newly discovered audience recording. Before you know it, 8 years have passed since the “REDEEMER OF SOULS Tour”, and now the official work “BATTLE CRY” has become a symbol. In order to recall that memory, let’s first look back at the overall picture of the world tour.

This is JUDAS PRIEST in 2014/2015. “BATTLE CRY” was recorded at “Wacken Open Air” in the summer, but the Japanese performance was about 5 months before that. The Nippon Budokan was the highlight performance and the 4th performance of the 5-performance Japan tour.
I’m sure some of you have already noticed this show, but this show has already been introduced in the press masterpiece “REDEEMER OF SOULS IN TOKYO (Zodiac 125)”, but of course (?) this work is completely different. It is a completely different recording by a different person, and it is a product that was made into a CD directly from the original DAT that was released for the first time. I think you can imagine that I am introducing this even though there is a press masterpiece, but the sound of this work is of the highest quality. The extremely thick core makes a powerful roar without any sense of distance, and if the details are clear, the sense of separation is also great. Will it enhance the masterpiece “REDEEMER OF SOULS IN TOKYO”? I’m hesitant, but I’m not defeated either. At that time, if this recording had been provided at the same time, which one would have been pressed? It would probably have been a 4-disc set to preserve both permanently.
What is depicted with such a thick press-grade sound is a full show that is surprisingly valuable now. In order to introduce the meaning, let’s organize the set while comparing it with the official work “BATTLE CRY”, which is a symbol of the tour.
●Incarnation of redemption (4 songs)
・Dragonaut (*) / Halls Of Valhalla / March Of The Damned (★*) / Redeemer Of Souls (*)
●Classics (14 songs)
・British Steel: Metal Gods/Breaking The Law/Living After Midnight
・Cry of Revenge: Devil’s Child/Electric Eye/You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’
・Immoral Code: Love Bites (★*) / Jawbreaker / Defenders Of The Faith (★*)
・Others: Victim Of Changes/Turbo Lover/Beyond The Realms Of Death/Hell Bent For Leather/Painkiller
*Note: Songs marked with “★” cannot be heard in the official “BATTLE CRY (video version)”. Songs marked with an asterisk (*) have not been played since this tour.
…and it looks like this. The video version of “BATTLE CRY” is longer than the CD version, but there is plenty of repertoire that cannot be heard there. “Love Bites” has not been played on subsequent tours, and “Defenders Of The Faith” is the last live performance on this day. And even more fresh are the new songs from “REDEEMER OF SOULS.” “Halls Of Valhalla” has been played in recent years, but other than that it is a limited song only at that time.
It is said that JUDAS PRIEST is currently working on its third work with Faulkner. The rapid advance began from this time. This is a live album where you can fully experience the highlight performances. Although the press masterpiece reigns as a classic, this is a new masterpiece that we can’t help but introduce. Please enjoy it to your heart’s content.
★Excellent audience recording of the “March 11, 2015: Nippon Budokan” performance. Although the first release master is different from the press masterpiece “REDEEMER OF SOULS IN TOKYO (Zodiac 125)”, this work is also a press-grade masterpiece. The extremely thick core roars without any sense of distance, and you can also enjoy the now valuable “REDEEMER OF SOULS” number and “Love Bites” and “Defenders Of The Faith” that cannot be heard on the official “BATTLE CRY”.
