Jeff Beck With Johnny Depp / New Jersey 2022 / 2CDR / Uxbridge
Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre, Red Bank, NJ, USA 11th October 2022
Jeff Beck & Johnny Depp have become the eyes of a typhoon with surprising combinations and unexpected chemistry. The latest and best live albums will be released at the same time!
This work is the second in a series of such works. It is a superb audience recording of “Red Bank Performance on October 11, 2022”. Let’s leave the overview of the tour to the commentary on “BOSTON 2022”, which will be released at the same time, here, let’s focus on the North American tour and check the positional relationship between the two works this week.
・September 23-October 4 (8 performances)
*October 6 “BOSTON 2022”
・October 7-10 (3 performances)
*October 11: Red Bank performance ← This work
・October 13-October 23 (8 performances)
-1 week later-
・November 1-12 (9 performances)
*Note: “*” marks are the two works of this week.
This is the ongoing US tour. “BOSTON 2022”, which was released at the same time, was the 9th performance in about two weeks from the start, and the Red Bank performance of this work was the 13th concert after about a week.
This work, which has been perfected at such a show, is truly a masterpiece. The powerful core and sharp outline are vivid like a laser beam, and the feeling of separation is great. Compared to “BOSTON 2022”, the sound contains a slight sense of air, but that is by no means a drawback. The Nari component adds thickness and dynamism to the ensemble, and the pouring feeling of the phrase even creates a psychedelic color. Of course, there is no original or child if the details are clouded by the ringing, but there is no such worry in this work. The air is crystal clear and clear, and it sounds extra sparkling because it has a ringing sound.
Also, the sound enhances the sense of presence. In the second half of this tour, when Johnny Depp appears, the amount of cheering will change obviously, but it is extremely real. Of course, it doesn’t get in the way of the performance (we don’t introduce it if it’s a recording that gets in the way), but you can feel the heat and the temperature change when Depp appears.
The latest full show, which is a step further from “BOSTON 2022”, is drawn with the glowing heat sound. The set has also changed subtly, so let’s organize it while comparing.
First half (instrumental stage)
・ “18”: Midnight Walker / Caroline, No
・Album Songs: Freeway Jam (★)/Loose Cannon (★)/Big Block/Star Cycle/Brush With the Blues/You Never Know/Cause We’ve Ended as Lovers
・Other covers: You Know You Know/Me and the Devil Blues(★)
The second half (with Johnny Depp)
・ “18”: This Is A Song For Miss Heady Lamarr / Isolation / Time / The Death And Resurrection Show
・Others: Rumble/A Day In The Life/Corpus Christi Carol(★)/Little Wing
* Note: The “★” marks are songs that could not be heard in the previous work “UMBRIA JAZZ FESTIVAL 2022”.
… and it looks like this. Frankly speaking, the song selection is the same as “BOSTON 2022”. What is slightly different is the order of the songs in the instrumental section in the first half, where the positions of “Loose Cannon” and “Me and the Devil Blues”, which began to be played on the North American tour, have been replaced. Even after changing the song selection, you can see that they are searching for a more sophisticated flow every day.
This is the first release of the joint tour that moved to the North American leg, and the simultaneous release of two works with a stronger sound than ever before. Both are hard to beat in terms of quality, but if you insist, if you want to pursue a more soundboard-like feeling of closeness, “BOSTON 2022”, is this work a realistic on-site experience? Anyway, it is a two-series work that allows you to experience the scene in a super clear way, even the American-like voices sent to Depp. Please enjoy it together.
★ The best audience recording of “October 11, 2022 Red Bank Performance”. The powerful core and sharp outline are vivid like a laser beam, and the feeling of separation is great. The sound of the hall, which includes a slight sense of air, adds thickness and dynamism to the ensemble, and the feeling of pouring phrases even creates a psychedelic color. New repertoires such as “Loose Cannon” and “Me and the Devil Blues” are also delicious, and you can fully experience the latest show.
