From 1978, when he created that famous song “Paris no Sanpomichi”, to 2011 with “BACK TO THE BLUES”. A collection of rare tracks left by Gary Moore for 23 years! A reprint of the legendary compilation Daimyo with a new look.
A total of 16 songs and 67 minutes of hidden treasures are engraved in this work. It is a press CD that collects precious album outtakes and the highest peak master of demo / rough mix, and permanently preserves it with definitive specifications that can be officially released as it is. In order to understand the superiority and inferiority of the rare track collection, it is best to introduce the dreadfulness of each song. The 16 tracks of this work can be roughly divided into 7 types, so let’s look at each individually.

● 1978 THIN LIZZY demo (1 song)
・THIN LIZZY Demo: Bad Is Bad
The first thing to appear is the 1978 unreleased song “Bad Is Bad” that officially joined Phil Lynott’s THIN LIZZY. Gary joined LIZZY three times in 1974/1977/1978, but the previous two times were all about supportive activities. Unlike that, 1978 was also a full-fledged participation in that “BLACK ROSE”.
“Bad Is Bad”, which was produced immediately after joining, was recorded in Memphis during a US tour, with members including Phil Lynott, Mark Nauseef, and Huey Lewis. A light shuffle number, Phil’s unique vocals, Gary’s guitar, and Huey’s blues harp are the best opening numbers.

● BACK ON THE STREETS session (4 songs)
・BACK ON THE STREETS Outtake: Track Ten / Road To Pain
・Gary Vocal Version: Don’t Believe A Word / Parisienne Walkways
After joining THIN LIZZY, Gary released his 1st solo album “BACK ON THE STREETS” with Phil’s help while touring. This work contains the outtakes “Track Ten” “Road To Pain” and “Don’t Believe A Word” “Parisienne Walkways” sung by Gary in the main.
The instrumental outtake “Track Ten” has been known for a long time, but this work is recorded as an upgrade master. “Road To Pain” is a hidden masterpiece with Gary’s song and full of emotion that also leads to Virgin era ballads. “Don’t Believe A Word” and “Parisienne Walkways” are rare tracks recorded on the American first analog board of “BACK ON THE STREET”, the version that Gary mainly sings instead of Phil. Both have different mixes and “Parisienne Walkways” is longer than 20 seconds, and you can fully enjoy Gary’s guitar.

● SOLO IN SOHO demo (1 song)
・Jamaican Rum
The collaboration with Phil in 1978/1979 was extremely creative and left behind a large number of masterpieces. “BACK ON THE STREETS” and “BLACK ROSE” are typical, but Phil’s 1st solo album “SOLO IN SOHO” should not be forgotten. “Jamaican Rum” recorded there is also a treasure by the golden combination “Phil / Gary”. Included in this work is a demo version recorded in Nassau in May 1979.

● G-FORCE session (2 songs)
・The Woman’s In Love (demo) / Trust Your Lovin’ (single B-side song)
Gary left THIN LIZZY in July 1979 and formed his own band G-Force. This work includes the demo take “The Woman’s In Love” at the time of his debut album “G-FORCE” production and “Trust Your Lovin ‘” which was the B-side song of the single “You”.
Unlike the completed version, “The Woman’s In Love” has Gary on vocals. In addition, Glenn Hughes, who participated in G-FORCE at the beginning of the formation, left a demo of “The Woman’s In Love”, but it is a different take. On the other hand, “Trust Your Lovin’” is an official track even though it is a single B-side. It is a melodious and catchy hidden masterpiece with a high degree of perfection and an impressive dynamic bass.

● Rare tracks from the VIRGIN label era (4 songs)
・Don’t Take Me For A Loser (Gary Burden Demo) / Teenage Idol (Original MIX) / Don’t Ever Give Your Heart Away (Glenn Hughes Demo) / Wild Frontier (Rough MIX)
Finally transferred to VIRGIN, and the golden age of hard rock began. In this work, rare tracks from “CORRIDORS OF POWER”, “VICTIMS OF THE FUTURE”, “RUN FOR COVER” and “WILD FRONTIER” are recorded one by one.
First, the demo “Don’t Take Me For A Loser” of “Corridors of Power” recorded in the first half of 1982. That Gary Burden is singing here! Baden had been fired from MSG at the time and was recalled to Michael Schenker in August 1982. This take seems to have been produced in the meantime. If Schenker had gotten along with Graham Bonnet, Big Ambition could have been a “double Gary” production of Moore and Baden.
The following “Teenage Idol” is the first version of “VICTIMS OF THE FUTURE” Japanese edition only, and is a completely different mix from the currently distributed album. It is a valuable take that has never been digitized before this work, especially the difference in guitar solos is a must-listen.
From “RUN FOR COVER” is the demo “Don’t Ever Give Your Heart Away” recorded when Glenn Hughes and Gary joined. Originally, this song was created by Glenn and Mel Galley for TRAPEZE, and in 1987 Mel was also playing as MGM (formalized in PHENOMENA’s “BLIND FAITH” in 2010). Although Glenn provided it for the project with Gary, it seems that the recording in “RUN FOR COVER” was postponed because it did not match Gary’s color.
Also includes rare tracks from Irish HR’s masterpiece “WILD FRONTIER”. It is a rough mix of “Wild Frontier” that was recorded only on the promo board, and the mix of the guitar is different while the content is almost complete.

● Rare tracks from the blues era (4 songs)
・STILL GOT THE BLUES Demo: Still Got The Blues/Oh Pretty Woman/Midnight Blues
・BACK TO THE BLUES Outtake: Livin’ With The Blues
In the 90’s, Gary made a big shift from hard rock to blues. This work contains 3 demo songs of “STILL GOT THE BLUES” in 1990 and 1 outtake song of “BACK TO THE BLUES” in 2001.
First of all, the demo of “STILL GOT THE BLUES” was recorded on the advance tape. “Still Got The Blues” fades out slightly before the finished version, but the remaining two songs are a different mix that is quite different from the finished version. “Oh Pretty Woman” has Gary’s impressive shout from the intro, and “Midnight Blues” has a different mix such as spatial processing.
The last is the outtake “Livin’ With The Blues” from “BACK TO THE BLUES”, a rare number recorded only in the charity album released exclusively in Ireland. The crying guitar tone that can be said to be a Gary clause is a masterpiece reminiscent of “Picture Of The Moon”.

This is the previous 16 songs, about 68 minutes long treasure collection. From super valuable takes that had not been made into CDs until then to rare takes that were hardly known in Japan, the whole story was compiled with the highest quality, making it a big decision board. A legendary studio album that still has nothing to surpass even now, more than 10 years after its first appearance. Here is a majestic reprint!

●1978年THIN LIZZYデモ（１曲）
・THIN LIZZYデモ：Bad Is Bad
まず最初に登場するのは、盟友フィル・ライノットのTHIN LIZZYに正式加入した1978年の未発表曲「Bad Is Bad」。ゲイリーのLIZZY加入は1974年／1977年／1978年の三度あったわけですが、前２回はサポート的な活動に終始。1978年はそれとは異なり、あの『BLACK ROSE』へと続く本格的な参画でもありました。
そんな加入直後に製作された「Bad Is Bad」は全米ツアー中のメンフィスで録音され、メンバーはフィル・ライノット，マーク・ナウシーフ，ヒューイ・ルイスら。軽妙なシャッフル・ナンバーで、フィルの個性的なヴォーカルとゲイリーのギター、そしてヒューイのブルースハープが最高なオープニング・ナンバーです。

●BACK ON THE STREETSセッション（４曲）
・BACK ON THE STREETSアウトテイク：Track Ten／Road To Pain
・ゲイリー・ヴォーカル・バージョン：Don’t Believe A Word／Parisienne Walkways
THIN LIZZYに加入したゲイリーはツアーをこなしつつ、フィルの助力を得て1stソロ・アルバム『BACK ON THE STREETS』を発表。本作にはそのアウトテイク「Track Ten」「Road To Pain」と、ゲイリーがメインで歌う「Don’t Believe A Word」「Parisienne Walkways」が収録されています。
インストのアウトテイク「Track Ten」は古くから知られていましたが、本作はアップグレード・マスターで収録。「Road To Pain」はゲイリーの歌入りでVirgin時代のバラードにも通じる情感溢れる隠れた名曲です。「Don’t Believe A Word」「Parisienne Walkways」は『BACK ON THE STREET』のアメリカ初回アナログ盤収録のレア・トラックで、フィルではなくゲイリーがメインで歌うバージョン。どちらもミックスが異なる上に「Parisienne Walkways」は20秒以上長く、ゲイリーのギターもたっぷり堪能できます。

●SOLO IN SOHOデモ（１曲）
・Jamaican Rum
1978年／1979年でのフィルとのコラボレーションは極めてクリエイティヴで、名曲・名作を大量に遺しました。『BACK ON THE STREETS』『BLACK ROSE』が代表的ですが、忘れてはならないのがフィルの1stソロ・アルバム『SOLO IN SOHO』。そこに収録された「Jamaican Rum」も、黄金コンビ「フィル／ゲイリー」による秘宝なのです。本作に収録されているのは、1979年５月にナッソーで録音されたデモ・バージョンです。

●G-FORCEセッション（２曲）
・The Woman’s In Love（デモ）／Trust Your Lovin’（シングルＢ面曲）
1979年７月にTHIN LIZZYを脱退したゲイリーは自身のバンドG-FORCEを結成します。本作には、デビュー・アルバム『G-FORCE』製作時のデモ・テイク「The Woman’s In Love」とシングル『You』のＢ面曲だった「Trust Your Lovin’」を収録しています。
「The Woman’s In Love」は完成版と異なり、ゲイリーがヴォーカルを務めている。なお、結成当初のG-FORCEに参画していたグレン・ヒューズとも「The Woman’s In Love」のデモが遺されましたが、それとも異なるテイクです。一方の「Trust Your Lovin’」はシングルＢ面とは言っても公式トラック。完成度も高く、躍動感のあるベースも印象的なメロディアスでキャッチーな隠れ名曲です。

●VIRGINレーベル時代のレア・トラック（４曲）
・Don’t Take Me For A Loser（ゲイリー・バーデン・デモ）／Teenage Idol（オリジナルMIX）／Don’t Ever Give Your Heart Away（グレン・ヒューズ・デモ）／Wild Frontier（ラフMIX）
いよいよVIRGINに移籍し、ハードロック黄金時代がスタート。本作では『CORRIDORS OF POWER』『VICTIMS OF THE FUTURE』『RUN FOR COVER』『WILD FRONTIER』からのレア・トラックを１曲ずつ収録しています。
まず、1982年前半に収録された『CORRIDORS OF POWER』のデモ「Don’t Take Me For A Loser」。ここで歌っているのは、あのゲイリー・バーデン！　当時のバーデンはMSGを解雇されており、1982年８月にマイケル・シェンカーに呼び戻されました。このテイクはその合間に製作されたと思われるもの。もしシェンカーがグラハム・ボネットと上手く行っていれば『大いなる野望』はムーアとバーデンという「ダブル・ゲイリー」による作品になったかも知れません。
続く「Teenage Idol」は『VICTIMS OF THE FUTURE』日本盤初回のみのバージョンで、現在流通のアルバムとはまったく異なるミックス。本作以前にはデジタル化された事がなかった貴重テイクで、特にギターソロの違いは必聴です。
『RUN FOR COVER』からはグレン・ヒューズとゲイリーが合流した際に収録されたデモ「Don’t Ever Give Your Heart Away」。元々この曲はグレンとメル・ギャレーがTRAPEZE用に作った曲で、1987年にはメルがMGMとしても演奏していました（2010年にPHENOMENAの『BLIND FAITH』で公式化）。グレンがゲイリーとのプロジェクト用に提供したものの、ゲイリーのカラーに合わず、『RUN FOR COVER』への収録が見送られたのだと思われます。
そして、アイリッシュHRの名作『WILD FRONTIER』からもレア・トラックを収録。プロモ盤のみに収録されていた「Wild Frontier」のラフミックスで、ほぼ完成版に近い内容ながらギターのミックスが異なります。

●ブルース時代のレア・トラック（４曲）
・STILL GOT THE BLUESデモ：Still Got The Blues／Oh Pretty Woman／Midnight Blues
・BACK TO THE BLUESアウトテイク：Livin’ With The Blues
90年代になるとゲイリーはハードロックからブルースへ一大転換。本作では1990年の『STILL GOT THE BLUES』デモ３曲と、2001年『BACK TO THE BLUES』のアウトテイク１曲を収録しています。
まず『STILL GOT THE BLUES』のデモですが、これはアドバンス・テープに収録されていたもの。「Still Got The Blues」は完成版より若干手前でフェイドアウトする程度ですが、残り２曲は完成版とは結構違う別ミックス。「Oh Pretty Woman」はイントロからゲイリーの印象的な掛け声が入っていますし、「Midnight Blues」は空間処理などのミックスが異なります。
最後は『BACK TO THE BLUES』のアウトテイク「Livin’ With The Blues」で、アイルランドで限定発売されたチャリティ・アルバムのみに収録されたレア・ナンバー。いかにもゲイリー節といえる泣きのギター・トーンは「Picture Of The Moon」を思わせる名曲です。

以上、前16曲・約68分に及ぶ秘宝集です。それまでCD化されていなかった超貴重テイクから国内ではほとんど知られていなかったレア・テイクまで、全編が最高峰クオリティで集成した一大決定盤。初登場から10年以上が経った現在でもなお超える物のない伝説のスタジオ・アルバム。ここに堂々の復刻です！
