From February-March 1971, the third US tour of Faces, which was held in conjunction with the release of the album “LONG PLAYER”, a live performance in California that recorded a day not mentioned in the literature is recorded. Recorded the Sacramento performance on March 13, 1971 for 43 minutes with good sound quality for the time. Direct recording from a master cassette (SCOTCH 60-minute tape) recorded by a Japanese who was traveling to the United States at that time. (At the beginning, you can hear conversations between Japanese people. Speaking of 1972, the masterpiece live “A Nod Is As Good As A Wink …” Rod will release the solo masterpiece “Every Picture Tells a Story”. It was recorded only in the latter half of the show, but there are plenty of things to listen to, such as the early version of Stay With Me, which has not been recorded yet, and Richmond, where you can listen to Ronnie Lane’s vocals. It’s an old-fashioned sound, but it has less hiss noise and is fresh, so it’s easy to listen to. Like the main story “Reading Festival 1972”, this is a very valuable take that is unbearable to core fans.

It contains a sound source that has never been released until now, but that should be because it was recorded by a Japanese who was dispatched overseas to see this concert at that time. It is a typical 70’s monaural audience recording, and the sound quality is not particularly good, but as you can see from the photo of the original cassette tape on the back jacket, there is no hiss noise and the sound quality is very easy to hear. Is. Recording only the second half of the show was like recording something that came to my mind while watching the concert, and I accompanied the person who recorded it in the ending part of “It’s All Over Now” when the recording started. You can hear the conversation of the person. Moreover, in the middle of “Around The Plynth”, it is strange that the sound sways only there, perhaps because an American asked me “Are you recording this?” The content is quite valuable, apart from the incomplete recording, especially the prototype of “Stay With Me” which seems to have not even been recorded, let alone before the release, during the long medley that begins with “Around The Plynth”. The place where is appearing is a listening thing. Of course, it is not a full chorus performance, and the arrangement and lyrics are quite different, and I am surprised by the light performance that is quite different from the later version. Of course, there is no call and response with the audience. The only later version will be reminiscent of Ian McLagan’s keyboard phrases in the second half. You can also hear Ronnie Lane’s vocals on “Richmond”. Originally, the item itself that recorded the sound source of this period was hardly released, so it is very valuable content for fans even though the concert is incompletely recorded.

アルバム「LONG PLAYER」リリースに合わせて行われた1971年2月～3月の、フェイセズ3回目のUSツアーより、文献にも記載されていない日を収録したカリフォルニアでのライブを収録。1971年3月13日サクラメント公演を、当時としては良好な音質で43分に渡って収録。当時、渡米していた日本人が録音したマスターカセット（SCOTCH の60分テープ）よりダイレクト収録。（冒頭では日本人同士の会話も聞こえます。71年と言えば、傑作ライブ「A Nod Is As Good As A Wink…」ロッドがソロの傑作「Every Picture Tells a Story」をリリースするまさにのりにのっていた時期。収録されているのはショウ後半のみになりますが、まだ録音もされていないStay With Meの初期ヴァージョン、更にはロニー・レインのボーカルが聴けるRichmond等聴きどころは満載。時代がかったサウンドですが、ヒスノイズも少なく、鮮度も良いので聴きやすいサウンドと言えます。本編「Reading Festival 1972」同様にコアなファンには堪らない大変貴重なテイクを収録した一枚。

今まで全くリリースされていなかった音源を収録しているが、それもそのはず、当時、海外へ派遣されてこのコンサートを見た日本人によって録音されたものだからだ。典型的な70年代のモノラル・オーディエンス録音で、特別良好な音質と言うわけではないが、裏ジャケに元のカセットテープの写真が写っていることから分かるようにヒスノイズも無く、非常に聴きやすい音質である。ショウの後半のみの録音というのが、いかにもコンサートを見ている途中で思い付ついて録音したような雰囲気で、録音が開始された「It’s All Over Now」のエンディング部分ではその録音した人物と同行した人物の会話が聴こえる。しかも「Around The Plynth」の途中では、アメリカ人に「これ録音してるの？」と訊かれて少し動揺したのか、そこだけ音が揺れるのがおかしい。内容は不完全収録ということを差し置いてもなかなか貴重で、特にその「Around The Plynth」から始まる長いメドレーの間にはまだリリース前どころか、録音すらされていなかったと思われる「Stay With Me」のプロトタイプが登場するところは聴きものだ。当然フルコーラスの演奏ではなく、しかもアレンジや歌詞はかなり異なっており、後のヴァージョンとはかなり違う軽快な演奏に驚かされる。勿論、観客とのコール＆レスポンスもない。唯一の後のヴァージョンを偲ばせるのは後半のイアン・マクレガンのキーボード・フレーズぐらいだろう。また「Richmond」ではロニー・レインのボーカルが聴かれる。元々、この時期の音源を収録したアイテム自体が殆どリリースされていなかっただけに、コンサート不完全収録ながらファンにはとても貴重な内容だ。
