From the US tour accompanying the 1974 blockbuster “Shock Treatment”, the performance in New Haven, Connecticut on September 3 was completely recorded for 1 hour and 20 minutes with an official-grade ultra-high-quality stereo sound board recording. The 1972 Pittsburgh performance released the other day also had the best sound and content, but this edition is also recorded with the best content and sound quality that surpasses the previous work. From the opening Keep Playin’That Rock N’Roll, Edgar Winter’s electric piano and Rick Derringer’s angry guitar play are already involved, and the band voltage is already at its peak, and you can enjoy a tremendously energetic live from the first song. The rhythm combination that has been trained in live performances for many years is perfect, and the band’s ensemble is also the strongest. The interaction between vocals and guitar in the new Do Like Me is amazing. One of the listening places is the 6th track instrument where you can fully enjoy Rick Derringer’s various guitar playing. Anyway, Rick Derringer’s intense riffs and solo play that color the whole show are just the best words. In the second half, Frankenstein, who became the number one hit in the United States as an instrumental number, will be performed in a long version of 14 minutes. The entanglement of Edgar’s synth and Rick’s guitar is also extremely exciting. The last is Nu’Orlins / Long Tall Sally’s 10-minute intense rock’n’roll to close the show. It is one of the highly recommended pieces that you can enjoy the scaled-up mature Edgar Winter band with realistic best line recording.
1974年大ヒット作「Shock Treatment」に伴うUSツアーより、9月3日コネチカット州ニュー・ヘイヴン公演をオフィシャル級の超高音質ステレオ・サウンドボード録音で1時間20分に渡って完全収録。先日リリースされた72年ピッツバーグ公演も最高のサウンドと内容でしたが、本盤も前作を上回る最高の内容と音質で収録されています。オープニングのKeep Playin’ That Rock N’ Rollからエドガー・ウインターのエレピにリック・デリンジャーの怒涛のギタープレイが絡み、既にバンド・ボルテージは最高潮、一曲目からとてつもなくエネルギッシュなライブを楽しむことができます。長年のライブで鍛え上げられたリズム・コンビネーションもばっちりで、バンドのアンサンブルのまとまりも最強。新作Do Like Meでのボーカルとギターとの掛け合いは凄い迫力。リック・デリンジャーの多彩なギタープレイがたっぷりと楽しめる6トラック目のインストも聴き所のひとつ。とにかくショウの全編を彩るリック・デリンジャーの強烈なリフとソロプレイはまさに最高の一言です。後半にはインストゥルメンタルナンバーとしては異例の全米ナンバーワン・ヒットとなったFrankensteinが14分ものロングヴァージョンで演奏されます。エドガーのシンセとリックのギターとのヴァイブレーション溢れる絡みっぷりも最高に刺激的。ラストはNu’Orlins / Long Tall Sally の10分間に及ぶ強烈なロックン・ロールでショウを締めます。スケールアップした円熟期のエドガー・ウィンター・バンドの姿をリアルな最高ライン録音で楽しめる大推薦の一枚です。

1974年のニューヘイヴンのライヴを収録している。音質はオフィシャル級のサウンドボードで、全く問題ないレベルだ。名盤「Shock Treatment」をリリースしてのツアーと言うことで、バンド・メンバーにリック・デリンジャーが参加している。エドガーの見せ場としてはやはりNo.1ヒットのFrankenstein で、今回もキーボード、サックス、パーカッションの三役をこなしている。この曲でもエドガーの繰り出す縦横無尽なサウンドにリックのギターが見事にはまっており14分という演奏時間が短く感じられるほど盤度のアンサンブルは素晴らしい。どの曲もロックンロールの楽しさに溢れており、演奏も素晴らしいものばかりだ。万人にお薦めしたい1枚である。
