1989 DURAN DURAN landed at Tokyo Dome, where the compatibility of “Big Egg” was still fresh. Introducing the definitive board that archives the sound board and pro shot with the best master.
Of course, this work was recorded on “February 22, 1989: Tokyo Dome performance”. This is a 3-disc set with the stereo sound board recording on DISC 1-2 and the multi-camera pro shot on DISC 3. They also experienced Korakuen Stadium in the previous “THE STRANGE BEHAVIOUR Tour”, but the show at Tokyo Dome was only once later and earlier. First, let’s look back on the schedule at that time.

This work is the highest quality set of its full sound board and TV broadcast pro shot.
Actually, the quality is iron wall. The main full sound board (DISC 1-2) is completely official grade, and the mix and recording are perfect. In the TV broadcast pro shot, the stereo feeling that was a little closer to the center spreads dynamically, and it is perfect enough to be released as an official work as it is.
On the other hand, the TV broadcast Pro Shot (DISC 3) is also the highest level of visual beauty ever. It is a master that has been popular as a gift title in our shop for a long time, but it seems that it has been digitized from the recording master itself, and there are no dubbing marks or deterioration over time. Although there is no momentary image distortion, it is less than zero comma, and if no white line noise is found, no voice noise is felt. そんな本作が記録されたのは、もちろん「1989年２月22日：東京ドーム公演」。そのステレオ・サウンドボード録音をDISC 1-2に、マルチカメラ・プロショットをDISC 3に配した３枚組です。彼らは１つ前の“THE STRANGE BEHAVIOUR Tour”でも後楽園球場を体験していますが、東京ドームでのショウは後にも先にも一度きり。まずは、そんな当時のスケジュールから振り返ってみましょう。

以上、全５公演。すでにロジャーやアンディが去って正式メンバーは３人になっていたわけですが、それでも日本人気は絶大。同じ1989年２月にはVAN HALEN、プリンスも初の東京ドーム公演を行っており、それに続く大規模公演となりました。そんなショウはTV放送プロショットが大定番として君臨してきましたが、実はそれとは別にフルのサウンドボードでも残されました。本作は、そのフル・サウンドボードとTV放送プロショットを最高峰クオリティ・セットなのです。
実際、そのクオリティは鉄壁。メインとなるフル・サウンドボード（DISC 1-2）は完全オフィシャル級で、ミックスも収録も文句の付けどころがない。TV放送プロショットではややセンターに寄っていたステレオ感もダイナミックに広がり、このままオフィシャル作品としてリリースして欲しいほどの完璧ぶりです。
その一方、TV放送プロショット（DISC 3）も過去最高峰の映像美。当店では以前からギフト・タイトルとしても人気を博してきたマスターなのですが、録画マスターそのものからデジタル化されているらしく、ダビング痕も経年劣化も見られない。瞬間的な画像の乱れも皆無ではないものの、それとてゼロコンマ以下ですし、白線ノイズ１本も見当たらなければ、音声ノイズも感じられない。ミント・クオリティのオフィシャルVHSから起こされたかのような鮮やかな発色と映像美で当時がそのままに甦るのです。
そんな「オフィシャル代わり」クオリティで描かれるのは、輝ける80年代の集大成。前述のように、サウンドボード篇はTV放送プロショットよりも長尺ですので、併せて整理しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。デビュー作から当時の最新作『BIG THING』に至るまで前作からセレクトされており、そのほとんどがヒット曲という豪華ぶり。映画『007 美しき獲物たち』に提供された「A View To A Kill」、サイド・プロジェクトARCADIAの「Election Day」やTHE POWER STATIONの「Some Like It Hot」や「Get It On」まで網羅。文字通り、彼らの10年を濃縮したような豪華絢爛なショウなのです。
