Currently, in the collector world, the decisive battle for No. 1 recording is intensifying with the end of the tour. We don’t know when McBride Purple’s official live album will be released, and the definitive FM broadcast / web distribution has not yet been realized. Under such circumstances, the best recording that serves as an official substitute is required. It is this week’s two series that appeared from such a fierce battle. It is a masterpiece that jumped out of the head and jumped out as the most promising candidate for the tour best among the recording group that occurred indiscriminately.

本作は同時リリース２連作の第一弾。「2022年10月20日ロンドン公演」の極上オーディエンス録音です。日本人が未だ知らぬ「マクブライド入りパープル」の真価が分かる予習タイトルが人気を集めているわけですが、今週の２タイトルはぴったりの業物ライヴアルバムです。その気になるクオリティの前に、まずはショウのポジション。今一度、スティーヴ・モーズからマクブライドへの交代劇に揺れた活動概要を振り返っておきましょう。

これが現在までに公表されている2022年／2023年のDEEP PURPLE。現在も日々ショウの予定が増え続けており、来日公演以降の「欧州#3」も充実してきました。現在は今年最後の「欧州#2」を終え、年末年始のオフに入っているところです。そんな現在、コレクター界ではツアー終了に伴ってNo.1録音の決定戦が激化。マクブライド・パープルの公式ライヴアルバムはいつになるか分かりませんし、決定的なFM放送／WEB配信もまだ実現していない。そんな状況下で、公式代わりを務めるベスト録音が求められています。そんな激戦の中から登場したのが、今週の２連作。乱発する録音群の中にあって、頭一つ抜けてツアー・ベストの最有力候補に躍り出た傑作なのです。
もちろん、いずれもハイクオリティながら個性が異なる。本作のポイントはダイナミズム。極太で距離感のない芯が素晴らしく、それと同時にウォームなホール鳴りが厚みを加え、パワフルでドラマティックなライヴアルバムに仕上がっているのです。もちろん、鳴りによってディテールが隠れてしまっては元も子もありませんが、本作にその心配はなし。芯に突進力があり、鳴りを食い破るようにしてディテールまでくっきりと届けてくれるのです。
特に美味しいのは重低音。クリアさでは同時リリースの『GLASGOW 2022（Shades 1653）』ではあるのですが、そちらは出音の関係でベースがやや引っ込み気味のバランス。それに対して本作は重低音から高音まですべてが力強く、ベースにしてもラインもグルーヴもたっぷり味わえるのです。
そんなダイナミック・サウンドで画かれるのは、場数をこなすほどに練度を上げていくマクブライド・パープルのフルショウ。セットは固定で既発群と同一ではありますが、ここで整理しておきましょう。
