30 years ago, the super unit COVERDALE-PAGE made the dreams of British rock fans a reality. A name recording that conveys that too precious live performance will be reprinted and released as a renewal artwork.
Engraved on this work is the “December 15, 1993: Nippon Budokan” performance. It is a superb audience recording that vacuum-packed the whole story. As anyone who has read this article knows, COVERDALE-PAGE’s live performance was only held in Japan. Of course, at our shop, we have archived as many masterpieces as possible from valuable stages all over the world. First, check out the collection along with the historic tour schedule.

That’s all for 7 performances at 4 venues. Nippon Budokan is a symbolic venue where both Coverdale and Paige have performed the most live performances in Japan. This work was not only the second day, but also the second day concert of COVERDALE-PAGE itself.
This vacuum-packed version of such a show is a famous recording that caused a sensation several years ago. The live itself was 30 years ago, but this recording suddenly appeared in 2016 instead of being known from that time. It is the 1st Gene Master announced by the prestigious excavation “krw_co”. Of course, if it’s just a new excavation, it won’t be a sensation. The shock was the sound quality, it was a furiously clear name recording.
In fact, the sound is vivid. The dense on-core density extends straight like a laser beam, and the sharp contours and details are clear to the smallest details. Furthermore, because it is the 1st generation, there is almost no hiss, and the depth of the silent part creates a wonderful separate feeling. Although it is not mistaken for a sound board in terms of timbre, each element is high spec like line recording.
And its brilliance continues to be vivid even now. Actually, remastering was also tried at the time of this release, but there was no room for upgrade. Of course, I could have re-released it with a different version that only slightly changed the nuances, but if it wasn’t an improvement, I would only be self-satisfied. In that case, it was decided to permanently preserve the truth of the master again (the basic processing applied at the time of its first appearance, such as pitch correction and removal of fine noise, is utilized).
The legendary Budokan night is depicted with that clear and beautiful sound. The ZEP songs dyed with deep voice, the white snake number spelled out by Paige in return, and the original songs that fuse the essence of both are wonderful. Let’s organize that legendary set here.

… and it looks like this. The tour itself was only 7 performances, so it was basically the same set. And the performance is really fresh. As expected, it is not enough to have plenty of room only for the second performance, but that does not mean that I am nervous and stiff. Rather, they are excited about the stage that has finally been realized, especially Cavadair, who is having a lot of fun with Japanese MCs. The high tension that seems to be fun is also shown in the performance of the song, and the forward feeling is comfortable.
For both men who boast glorious careers, COVERDALE-PAGE was by no means a hugely successful project. On the other hand, they still talk about those days with pride. Even though a large-scale world tour was not realized, why is it a good memory? It is “musical
It was fun,” was the pure reason. At that time, Nippon Budokan was a strange tension witnessing the sight of the two legendary people acting as a sound, but in fact both men on the stage were the same. This work is a live album where you can feel the joy and fun of it. A press 2CD that permanently preserves the clear sound of the 1st Gene that surprised collectors around the world. 今を去ること30年前、英国ロック・ファンの夢を現実のものにしたスーパー・ユニットCOVERDALE-PAGE。その貴重すぎる生演奏を伝える名録音がリニューアル・アートワークで復刻リリース決定です。

以上、全４会場の７公演。日本武道館はカヴァデール／ペイジ両雄にとって日本で一番多くのライヴを行ってきた象徴の会場。本作はその２日目と言うだけでなく、COVERDALE-PAGE自体の２日目コンサートでもありました。
そんなショウを真空パックした本作は、数年前にセンセーションを巻き起こした名録音。ライヴ自体は30年前になるわけですが、この録音は当時から知られていたのではなく2016年になって突如として登場。発掘の名門「krw_co」によって公表された1stジェネ・マスターなのです。もちろん、単に新発掘なだけならセンセーションにはならない。衝撃だったのはサウンド・クオリティでして、猛烈にクリアな名録音だったのです。
実際、そのサウンドは鮮烈。密度の高いオンな芯の密度はレーザー光線のように真っ直ぐ伸び、くっきりとした輪郭とディテールも微細部まで鮮明。さらに1stジェネだからこそヒスもほとんどなく、無音部の深みが見事なセパレート感まで演出してくれる。音色的にサウンドボードと間違えたりはしませんが、要素の１つひとつはライン録音ばりにハイスペックなのです。
そして、その輝きは今なお鮮烈であり続けている。実は今回リリースに際してリマスターも試されたのですが、アップグレードの余地がなかった。もちろん、微妙にニュアンスを変えただけの別バージョンで再リリースする事もできたのですが、向上でないなら自己満足にしかならない。それならば、再びマスターの真実をそのまま永久保存することになったのです（ピッチ補正や微細ノイズの削除など、初登場時に施された基礎処理は活かされています）。
そのクリアな美音で画かれるのは、今や伝説として語られる武道館ナイト。ディープ・ヴォイスで染め変えられたZEP曲、返礼のようにペイジが綴る白蛇ナンバー、そして両者のエッセンスが融合したオリジナル曲の数々が素晴らしい。ここでその伝説セットを整理してみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。ツアー自体がわずか７公演ということもあり、基本的に同一セットでした。そして、その演奏ぶりは実に瑞々しい。さすがに２公演目だけに余裕たっぷりとはいかないわけですが、だからと言って緊張でガチガチというわけでもない。むしろ、遂に実現したステージに発奮しており、特にカヴァデールは日本語MCも連発してはしゃぎまくっている。その楽しそうなハイテンションは楽曲の演奏にも現れており、前のめりなノリが心地良いのです。
栄光のキャリアを誇る両雄にとっては、決して大成功を収めたプロジェクトでもなかったCOVERDALE-PAGE。その一方で、今でも２人は当時を誇らしく語ってもいます。大規模なワールドツアーも実現しなかったのに、なぜ良い想い出なのか。それは「音楽的に
楽しかった」という純粋な理由だったのではないでしょうか。当時の日本武道館は伝説の２人が音を兼ねる光景を目の当たりにして異様なテンションでしたが、実はステージ上の両雄も同じだった。本作は、その喜びと楽しさを肌感覚で味わえるライヴアルバムなのです。世界中のコレクターを驚かせた1stジェネのクリア・サウンドを永久保存したプレス２CD。ここに堂々の復刻です。
