Focusing on genres such as jazz and blues, which had few collector’s items at the time, the valuable titles of the BMM label, which was extremely popular with fans, are now available in the regular low-priced reissue series Necromancer.
The last live of Mingus’ career on June 3, 1977 in Buenos Aires, remastered from the broadcast master, official quality sound board. He mainly plays songs from the famous late “Changes”, and his ally Dannie Richmond, who has returned to the drummer, is on the list. I’ve been away from Mingus for a while, but I’d like to team up again for the past few years. Mingus said in his lifetime that “Richmond not only supports the rhythm accurately but also plays with creativity”, and the rhythm section is also breathtaking. In particular, “Four Henry Kearney” dedicated to jazz giant Henry Kearney from “Changes 2”, which is not a bird, is a dramatic masterpiece that was often played in the 70’s and started with a minor bass riff.
当時コレークターズ・アイテムがほとんど無かったジャズやブルースといったジャンルに焦点を絞り、ファンから絶大な人気を誇ったBMMレーベルの貴重タイトル群が、正規廉価再発シリーズ・ネクロマンサーに登場です。
ミンガスのキャリアの中で最晩年1977年6月3日ブエノスアイレスで行われたライヴを、放送用マスター、オフィシャル・クオリティーのサウンドボードからリマスタリング収録。後期の名盤名高い『チェンジズ』からの曲をメインに演奏しており、ドラマーには帰ってきた盟友ダニー・リッチモンドが名を連ねています。一時期ミンガスの元を離れていたものの、この数年前からまたタッグを組むように。ミンガスは生前「リッチモンドはリズムを正確にサポートするだけにとどまらず創造性あるれるプレーをする」と言っており、やはり息もピッタリのリズム隊。特にトリをかざる『チェンジズ2』からジャズの巨人ヘンリー・カーニーに捧ぐ“フォー・ヘンリー・カーニー”は70年代にはよく演奏されておりマイナーのベース・リフから始まるドラマチックな名曲です。
