Bryan Ferry / Los Angeles 1994 Pre-Fm / 2CD / Uxbridge
Pantanges Theatre, Los Angeles, CA, USA 8th December 1994
Bryan Ferry in 1994, who sent out “MAMOUNA”, which participated in Brian Eno, Phil Manzanera and Andy Mackay, and embarked on the biggest world tour of his career. A sound board album that serves as an official substitute for that era is now available.
“December 8, 1994 Los Angeles performance” is recorded in this work. It is the super-superb stereo sound board recording. Speaking of “MAMOUNA Tour”, it is a large-scale tour that is unparalleled even if solo / ROXY MUSIC is combined, and it is memorable that the visit to Japan has been realized. First, let’s unravel the whole picture and check the position of the show.
● 1994
《“MAMOUNA” released on August 31》
・September 28-November 1: Europe #1 (22 performances)
・November 6-December 12: North America #1 (26 performances) ← Coco
● 1995
・ January 24-February 16: Europe # 2 (19 performances) ← * WOLVERHAMPTON 1995
・ February 20-March 9: Singapore / Australia (11 performances)
・ March 12-22: Japan (8 performances)
・ March 25-April 8: North America # 2 / South America (11 performances)
・November 6-27: Europe #3 (19 performances)
This is 1994/1995 Bryan Ferry. “BETE NOIRE Tour” and “AS TIME GOES BY Tour” were also full-fledged, but still about 70 performances. On the other hand, “MAMOUNA Tour” was a huge world tour with about 100 performances. The Los Angeles performance of this work is the time when the turnaround is approaching. It was the 23rd performance of “North America # 1”, and it was the 45th performance in total.
This show is also known for being broadcast on FM, and is a staple that has given birth to various pre-existing groups. This work is the sound board of the champion who reigns at the highest peak. There are several reasons for the “king”, but first of all it is a full-length version. This live has been rebroadcast several times, but the content was different due to the transmission frame. Some versions were less than half of the show. Under such circumstances, the source of this work is the longest version broadcast. Not only is it long, but it is a complete recording of the full show on the day.
And the sound that penetrates the perfect form is the proof of the “king”. Unlike the pre-existing group, it is the ultimate gene product that has been digitized directly from the analog master before broadcasting. In fact, the sound can only be called “completely official class”. As a matter of fact, even if you say “official grade” in a single word, it is a bit of a stretch. Especially in modern times, official releases of excavated sound sources and BBC sessions are not uncommon, and there is a considerable range. Under such circumstances, the official class in this work is “Pin”. Unlike excavated sound sources, it is a “masterpiece class” sound that is firmly built and regularly released.
“What’s more, it’s natural.” Analog master records record sound with physical grooves, so they are extremely resistant to deterioration over time, and if the quality of the record is good, the master sound itself can be preserved for decades. Especially in the case of this work, the quality of the board seems to be special, and the transfer accuracy that one needle patch is not found is tremendous. You can fully enjoy the fresh and glossy sound world without digital processing.
The full show of the precious “MAMOUNA Tour” is depicted with such a perfect sound. From this tour, the press masterpiece “WOLVERHAMPTON 1995 (Uxbridge 1808)” is also familiar, but that is not a full one but an excerpt. The full live album has much more songs and volume. Let’s organize them by comparing them here.

… and it looks like this. There are so many famous songs that it is meaningless to say “○○ is delicious” one by one. In fact, of the 17 songs that can be heard in this work, nearly half of the 8 songs are repertoires that could not be heard in “WOLVERHAMPTON 1995”. With this alone, you can understand how this work is a definitive live album.
The volume of songs surpasses even that of a press masterpiece, and the sound quality is on par with official masterpieces. It is exactly the big decision board that will be “an official substitute for the MAMOUNA Tour”. The highest peak of the soundboard album where you can fully experience the biggest tour in Ferry’s life. Please enjoy it to your heart’s content.
★ Super-superb stereo sound board recording of “December 8, 1994 Los Angeles performance”. It has been digitized directly from the analog master disk of the full show broadcast on the day, and the number of songs volume and sound quality are perfect. 8 songs out of 17 songs are repertoire that can not be heard even on the press name board “WOLVERHAMPTON 1995”, and it is the birth of a big decision board that will be “an official substitute for the MAMOUNA Tour” both in name and reality.
