Speaking of Bob Dylan’s 1975 Rolling Thunder Revue, the long-awaited box set was released four years ago, but it was also a set consisting only of live performances recorded on multi-tracks. . As a result, the sound sources were biased toward recording from the middle of the tour, and it became clear that there were many shows for which multi-track recording was not performed.
On the contrary, even in the latter half of the tour, there were many days when multiple recordings were not made, and it was the currently popular “DEFINITIVE DOUBLE E’S” that was released to fill the gap, but ironically, Rolling… “NEW HAVEN 1975” did not lose its value with the release of Thunder Box. It was a masterpiece that captured the stage when the tour was getting on track with a good audience, and at the same time it was a masterpiece that represented the first half of Rolling Thunder. And it was released about 10 years ago, and it is also an item that has been sold out for a long time due to its reputation.
In fact, it was a title that was sold out before the official Rolling Thunder Box was released, and after the release of the box, it became a masterpiece with even more requests from enthusiasts for its re-release.

It’s been nearly 10 years since that release, and isn’t it about time for a re-release? That’s why I asked “Graf Zeppelin” to brush up the sound source this time. This time he also showed his skill brilliantly, but needless to say, it was reviewed from the original sound source at the time of re-release. The secret to its popularity is the outstanding freshness of the 1975 monaural audience recording, but the remastering by “Graf Zeppelin” has made it even clearer. In addition, this time it is recorded from the scene where Bob Neuwirth introduces it before the appearance of Dylan at the opening, and the content has clearly evolved into an upper version.
In addition, “Graf Zeppelin” has been completely reviewed regarding bonus tracks. The previous release included rare numbers from the dates after New Haven, but this time the same New Haven has a more unified content by including a bonus take of the night part. There is a lot of repertoire here that was not sung during the daytime session, and not only can you listen to classics such as “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall” and “Blowin’ In The Wind,” but also “I Don’t Believe” performed by Dylan. The gentle singing in “You” is exquisite.
On the other hand, from the Hartford performance, which was well received in the previous release, regarding the performance bonuses of other artists, “Graf Zeppelin” has changed from the sound source stage to a waistful sound quality that has been reconstituted. One of them is “It Makes No Difference” that Rick Danko sang before the live show at The Band, but it’s even more history now that the obituary of the author Robbie Robertson has arrived. It has become a serious scene.

And after all, with regard to the main part of New Haven, the trial run period of Thunder Review is over, and it seems that the band has become able to play with confidence because of the high-quality sound audience. Of course, it is not a sound image that can be described as a “sound board”, but this clear and fresh recording state is really easy to hear. It is to be reminded again that it is an excellent audience in the first half of the tour.
In addition, I am lucky that the historic live premiere of the immortal masterpiece “Tangled Up In Blue” was captured with such an easy-to-hear sound quality. From such a scene, you can see Dylan’s confidence that the tour has started to progress smoothly, but rather the heartwarming happening that happened with too much momentum is the last Disc-1 “One More Cup Of Coffee”. Here Dylan wanted to try a different tempo than usual and started singing, but the masterpiece scene of returning to the original rhythm was rejected by the confused rhythm team.
The great appeal of this sound source was capturing such happenings with outstanding ease of listening. From the release at that time, it was a highly honored release with the first half of Rolling Thunder Review in 1975, but this time it has been reborn as a version suitable for its re-appearance in 2023 with a splendid production by “Graf Zeppelin”. . A re-release of a masterpiece that captures the peace and harmony unique to the first half of the tour that cannot be experienced with the Rolling Thunder Box!
