BLONDIE in 1979 was proud of the huge popularity of Britain beyond his home country, sending his masterpieces “PARALLEL LINES” and “EAT TO THE BEAT” to No. 1 in the UK in quick succession. A special version of the large classic video that you can witness the heyday is decided to be a gift release.
The feature of this work is “December 31, 1979 Glasgow Performance”. It is a multi-camera pro shot of the countdown live performed in the UK at the height of popularity. Speaking of the “EAT TO THE BEAT” era, the main performance of the official live album “PICTURE THIS LIVE” in Dallas and the popular sound board “LONDON 1980: Pre-FM VINYLS (Uxbridge 1310)” Familiar. In order to sort out such situations, let’s look back on the tour schedule at that time and confirm the position of the show.

● 1979
“May-June” EAT TO THE BEAT “production”
・ June 27-August 26: North America # 1 (44 performances) ← * Official PICTURE THIS LIVE
“September 28,” EAT TO THE BEAT “released”
・ October 4th-13th / December 15th: North America # 2 (4 performances)
・ December 25-31: Europe # 1a (5 performances) ← ★ Coco ★
● 1980
・ January 1-2: Europe # 1b (18 performances) ← * LONDON 1980
・ March 7-22: North America # 3 (3 performances)
・ June 25 + September 21: Europe # 2 (2 performances)
“November” AUTOAMERICAN “released”

This is the process from the completion of “EAT TO THE BEAT” to “AUTOAMERICAN”. “EAT TO THE BEAT” was released near the end of the US tour, and it was time to invade the UK at the end of the year. The Glasgow performance of this work was such a live on New Year’s Eve, and it was a concert about two weeks before “LONDON 1980: Pre-FM VINYLS”.
Such a show was broadcast on TV and reigned as a major staple among the classics that convey the golden age from ancient times. This work is the Japanese broadcast version, which is the highest version. The source of this work is the famous program “Golden Western Music Live” of a certain broadcasting association that was broadcast in 2006. This week, the program’s ROXY MUSIC special feature “STOCKHOLM 1976: JAPANESE BROADCAST” will be released at the same time, but in reality, this work and ROXY MUSIC are a coupling broadcast. This work is one edited only for BLONDIE.
And the origin of the highest peak is quality. Since there is only the 2006 version, both broadcasting and recording are digital, and from the station master to this work, it is made into a DVD without deterioration. The beauty of the image and the sound of the sound board are wonderful, with no words other than “completely official grade”. What is drawn with the highest quality with “super” is the concentration reduction of the blockbuster works “PARALLEL LINES” and “EAT TO THE BEAT”. This video has 11 songs (+ α), which is about half of all 21 songs set on the day, but it is beautifully divided into two parts.

● Love Heartbeat (6 songs in the first half)
・ Dreaming / Slow Motion / Shayla (★) / Union City Blue (★) / Atomic (★) / Eat To The Beat (★)
● Parallel lines of love (5 songs in the second half)
・ Picture This / Pretty Baby (★) / Heart Of Glass / Hanging On The Telephone / Sunday Girl
* Note: “★” marks are songs that could not be heard in “PICTURE THIS LIVE”.

… And it looks like this. As a matter of fact, songs not recorded in “PICTURE THIS LIVE” can be heard in “LONDON 1980: Pre-FM VINYLS”, so this work is rather concentrated. The latest hits of the time, such as “Dreaming,” “Heart Of Glass,” and “Hanging On The Telephone,” are also available (by the way, only these three songs are covered by the official video work “LIVE!” It’s a show that feels like “a compressed version of the two great masterpieces you see.”
Although the highest quality version of such a stage is full, this work also has its own production unique to Japanese broadcasting. At our shop, we are archiving a number of music programs with the finest masters by domestic core record enthusiasts, but “Golden Western Music Live” is the standard. To the last, it is wonderful to make the best use of the live itself and the music itself, and then casually create a unique program with a good taste. There are two contents, one is subtitles after Japan. Not only the Japanese translation of the inter-song MC, but also the names of each member and the song title / composition credits are complete. In addition, each song comes with a brief commentary, and the songs that you have forgotten are revived quickly, and you will not get bored with the unexpected chart results of the hit songs.
And another original production is the solution corner before and after the stage. This program is in charge of commentary with guests associated with the band every time, but since this work was a special feature of coupling with ROXY MUSIC, a certain music critic “Kon-chan” who is also dead now navigates. Since only the comments about BLONDIE have been cut out and edited, it may be a little fragmented, but he will explain with a nostalgic narrative such as the band history and the visual concept of the stage.
It is a video masterpiece that you can enjoy the shining stage of the golden age with the complete official quality of Bikabika. A semi-official piece that is fully equipped with a variety of post-Japanese subtitles and commentary corners, and realizes the delusion that “if the Japanese version is released as an official work …”. Please enjoy it carefully.

《11月『AUTOAMERICAN』発売》

これが『EAT TO THE BEAT』完成から『AUTOAMERICAN』までの歩み。

Dreaming/Slow Motion/Shayla(★)/Union City Blue(★)/Atomic(★)/Eat To The Beat(★)
Picture This/Pretty Baby(★)/Heart Of Glass/Hanging On The Telephone/Sunday Girl

「Dreaming」「Heart Of Glass」「Hanging On The Telephone」といった当時の最新ヒットも取りそろえ(ちなみに、黄金時代の公式映像作『LIVE!』
